  1. Simisear
  2.
  3. Hello everybody, it’s foo here back with another overlooked buff video and today we’re covering a Pokemon in need, Simisear. Japan voted this Pokemon the least favourite pokemon EVER, so please, if you can find it in your hearts, show your support for this surprisingly decent, derpy Pokemon who is trying its best with some neat little buffs.

  5. So to understand how hard this lil guy is trying, we need to know what Simisear did before the buffs (aside from crying itself to sleep)
  6. Simisear is fire type, giving it a rocks weakness but a nice offensive typing. As with the other Simi’s, Simisear has a nice 101 speed stat, creeping above the all-important 100 speed tier threshold. It also has can use both of its attacking stats to deal very nice damage. Its bulk is certainly lacklustre though, so if you aren’t KOing the opponent, watch out!
  7. Its abilities are Gluttony and Blaze. More on Gluttony later, but Blaze was generally the most used ability to power-up fire type moves when low HP.
  8. The most common set was NP sweeper, but it could be a mixed wallbreaker too.
  9. So what about the buffs?
  10. 1. 50% berries
  11. One weird buff that came Simisear’s way is the combination of its Gluttony ability and the pinch berries that heal 50% health. It now auto-heals 50% health at 50% or below, and has Recycle to make this more reliable. Not having recovery previously means this is a pretty neat addition to Simisear’s moveset. Though it doesn’t have the best bulk, it does get access to Will-o-Wisp, meaning a utility set is possible. It would be cool to see if a stallbreaker Simi is usable…
  12. 2. Belch
  13. In combination with the above, Simisear now gets Belch as an egg move. This is a very powerful poison type move that can only be used if the Pokemon has consumed a berry. It could be useful for breaking through fairies. It already gets Gunk Shot, but Belch can benefit from NP and is not as inaccurate either. More situational, but maybe worth a try on a Salac set?
  14. 3. Flare Blitz
  15. This is the real game changer. Simisear now has very powerful physical STAB (previously only Fire Punch/Flame Charge. This makes 100% physical sets a lot more viable with coverage like Superpower, Gunk Shot, Knock Off. It also means mixed sets are much harder to switch in on – physical or special wall? As most Simisears have previously been special as it gets NP, the opponent might expect special and you can catch them off guard. The scope of different sets you can run is really exciting, so give it a try!
  16. 4. Z-Moves
  17. Though Simisear does not get many useful status Z-Moves (it could already boost speed with Flame Charge) it uses many inaccurate but powerful moves that can really benefit from the addition of Z-Moves. Things like Focus blast or Fire Blast can be turned into their respective Z-Moves to break through opponents on a NP set, or alternatively Gunk Shot can be used on a physical set. All these avoid the shaky accuracy for a terrifying nuke. Also notable is Flare Blitz Inferno overdrive takes no recoil. Definitely a decent user of Z-Moves so check it out!

  19. So that’s Simisear, hopefully you can now see it’s positive qualities and I’ve convinced you that the Japanese poll is wrong! Let me know what you think in the comment section and whether you’re a Simisear fan or not.
  20. I want to talk about the another Simi in this series, but I will come back to it later.
  21.
  22. That’s all for now, thanks for watching, I’ve been foo, you’ve been awesome and hopefully see you next time!
