  7. Here's a blast from the past
  8. >Be anon
  9. >Working at the gas station
  10. >Fking Stolas if all demons walks in
  11. >With some pink bitch
  12. >She looks mad
  13. >You wonder why
  14. "So uh... Stolas."
  15. >"Mortal."
  16. "So who's your friend?"
  17. >Stolas lets out a heavy sigh
  18. >Clearly he's been dealing with some trouble
  19. >"This little miscreant has caused a fuss here on earth, and because she falls under my jurisdiction I had to deal with the fallout."
  20. "What'd she do?"
  21. >"She created a mutant fish at a beach, and led to the biggest headache of my life."
  22. "Wouldn't I have heard of that?"
  23. >"No. We mixed the news reports and wiped anyones memories of the incident."
  24. "So why is she here?"
  25. >>"Fk you."
  26. >"She's here to work alongside you at this, let's face it, dump. As punishment of course."
  27. >>"Bullsht!"
  28. >Stolas glares at her and she shrinks under his gaze
  29. >"Say hello to your new coworker, Verosika Mayday."
  30. "This doesn't feel like a punishment."
  31. >"She's a popstar, rich, and a spoiled beelzejuice addict. Doing menial labor is definitely a fitting punishment, working fir a human just salts the wound."
  32.
  33. Might post more if i feel like it
  34. -
  35. >suddenly, another bird demon walks in
  36. >Octavia
  37. "...Hello?"
  38. >"Hello, Anon." she greets you with a small smirk, before giving her father and Verosika the once-over "I see dad has neglected to introduce you to your OTHER new co-worker."
  39. "Oh?"
  40. >stepping aside, she reveals the sulking form of Blitzo
  41. >immediately, the two lesser demons seem to stare daggers at each other
  42. >oh boy, this'll be "fun"
  43.
  44. >Stolas looks hesitant
  45. >"Tavi, I'm not sure that..."
  46. >"NO, father!" the owlette said firmly "The bet was his idea they were the ones who went up without a disguise, and both sides agreed to keep the event a secret. The fact that he went back on his word and TATTLED to you isn't an excuse!"
  47. >at that, Verosika seems even more furious, while Blitzo notably shrinks slightly, and resumes his sulking
  48. >with a defeated sigh, Stolas just nods
  49. >"Very well... I mustn't be biased..."
  50. >but he leans in close to the imp
  51. >"I'll by back for you soon, Blitzy~!"
  52. >"Three weeks."
  53. >"WHAT?!"
  54. >"WHAT?!"
  55. "What."
  56. >"...What?"
  57. >"Her punishment is one month, no Beelzejuice, and seeing that it was a reciprocating provocation, it's only fitting that he spends at least three weeks here."
  58. >the owlette scoffs
  59. >"Besides, given their history, I wouldn't be surprised if either of them does something that would extend BOTH of their punishments..."
  60. "...Yeah, as if I'd do that, sure."
  61. >the four demons blinked, having apparently forgotten you were there
  62. >"Pardon?"
  63. "No offense, but I'd rather not be working with two demons any longer than necessary. Especially after the ruckus YOU TWO caused!"
  64. >your words sharpen at the two owls, causing the other two to stop their fuming and perk up, momentarily
  65. >"L-Let's not elaborate on that!" Stolas replies, hastily "...But I get your point. I know Blitzy has an ill reputation in your store, but I assure you..."
  66. >and he stares, long and still, at the imp, who shrinks under his gaze
  67. >"...He will be of no trouble..." he said, in a low, solemn voice
  68. >Blitzo hastily nodded
  69. -
  70. >"...And as for the little miss..." the Goetian continued "If she know what's good for her, she'll keep her head low, and her mouth off the bottle."
  71. >Verosika said nothing in response, but you could tell she had a choice few words about the matter
  72. >you, on the other hand, didn't have to hold your tongue
  73. "Right."
  74. >you began, dryly
  75. "So, once again, Hell walks into my life, now dumping a petty thief and a recovering alcoholic on me to babysit while they're in "time out"... And you've already decided that I, ME, will have to spend more time with them if they fk up! Is that it?!"
  76.
  77. >the air of assurance (and frankly, arrogance) surrounding both owls slowly melted away - for demons, they were fairly moral
  78. >you were not done, however
  79.
  80. "I have no choice in the matter! Literally! This is my only job, the store isn't mine, but it sure as HELL isn't any of yours! If I loose it because of them...!"
  81. >you wanted to say "these two", but given that they'll probably won't change their minds at all, you decided to be a touch more polite with your future co-workers
  82. >"I assure you, Anon, that your employment is safe and sound..." Stolas replied, assuring, before changing his tone "Or, at least, it depends solely on your behavior. Ms. Mayday?"
  83. >with a sigh, the succubus transformed - looking like a layer of dust was suddenly burned off her skin, taking her clothes along with it -, her form quickly setting on the familiar face of "Veronica Mayday", erstwhile pop sensation of the East Coast
  84. >you never were interested in pop music (everything after Jacko was just garbage, and even Jacko wasn't a high bar to reach), but the stories of her sudden appearance and disappearance piqued your curiosity, especially after demons started popping into your store
  85. "Right."
  86. >you nodded
  87. "And him?"
  88. >you asked, motioning towards Blitzo
  89. >"I don't have one." the imp shrugged, before his eyes widened, and he shot a finger at the smaller owl, with a sardonic "HA!"
  90. -
  91. >...only for Stolas to tap on his head, causing the same "dust-burning fire" to run down his body
  92. >when it cleared, what stood in place of the imp was a short gremlin of a man, looking to be in his later 30s, early 40s, with a large, elongated skull, bugged-out eyes, a non-existent chin, elongated arms, and an undersized torso
  93. >Stolas seemed pleased with his work, while the rest of you looked on in horror
  94. "...Care to try again?"
  95. >at your muttering, the demon looked up, and eyes widening as he gauged your reactions, he quickly tapped on Blitzo again
  96. >his form changed even more rapidly this time, and soon, a more human-shaped human stood before you
  97. >he was still shorter than you (and Veronica/Verosika - the woman was a fking skyscraper), but his head now had a more normal shape (though still bald, as his horns disappeared), his body and arms were proportional, and his eyes were passable as well
  98. "He's still a gremlin."
  99. >you mused
  100. "Kinda like DeVito, but skinny. And not nearly as funny."
  101. >at that, both Octavia and Verosika let out a chuckle
  102. >Stolas himself had to suppress a smirk
  103. >"...Very well, Anon. So... One month, three weeks, keep Miss Verosika off the juice..."
  104. "I don't even know what Beelzejuice is!"
  105. >"...and keep Blitzy in line."
  106. >"Easier said than done." Octavia mumbled "It's not like YOU did a "Stellar" job with that, dad."
  107. >the owl winced at the word usage
  108. >"...Right."
  109. "And if they DO cause trouble..."
  110. >"Then, their punishment shall be extended in Hell." the Goetian nodded "It wouldn't be fair to punish you as well, since you're not there yet."
  111. "Now, that's more like--... Wait, what do you mean "yet"?!"
  112. >"Oh, would you look at the time! Come on, Tavi, we gotta go!"
  113. >"Uh, yeah, bye, Anon! See you soon!"
  114. "Wait!"
  115. >they were gone
  116. -
  117. >letting out a sigh of supreme tiredness, you looked at your two newfound "colleagues"
  118. >Verosika barely glanced at you, her eyes scanning the liquor section of the store, and looking visibly more disappointed with every second
  119. >Blitzo eyed you indifferently, tugging at his clothes, still settling into his altered human form
  120. "Right..." you grumbled, catching their attention "Lemme get your shirts..."
  121.
  122. >the station had no uniform policy (seeing that only you worked there), but you figured you might as well make them feel "welcome"
  123. >the shirts were your bog-standard golf-type flannel, lined with a smoother material on the inside so it wouldn't be too itchy, but it made them all the more hotter to wear - thank God for air conditioners
  124. >simple, two-tone color - not too bland, not too eyehurting, simple company logo
  125. >honestly, they were meant to be novelty stuff they gave out to employees, which is why they were more presentable than the usual company stock
  126. >not that they'd be going out in public anytime soon
  127. >you could tell that the fact that the shirts came from their own plastic scheme, folded and fresh, was a welcome surprise for the two, but they kept it on the down low - wouldn't wanna show you any appreciation
  128. >soon, the issues revealed themselves, though
  129. >Blitzo's shirt was too big, whilst Verosika's was a male shirt
  130. >you suggested that they swap, but they just looked at you in disgust
  131. >with a shrug, you turned around, walking into the "office" part of the station - really, just a storage room with an old table shoved in, filing cabinets lining a wall, an aging, beige monitor occupying most of the table's left side
  132. >no window, the tubes have burned out, so you had to dig through papers in what little light poured through the open door
  133. >by the time you returned, the two had seemingly followed your advice, as Verosika now had the larger female shirt on
  134. >alas, Blitzo's was still too big to him, but you couldn't really give a fk
  135. -
  136. >you stand before them now, with a clipboard
  137. "Right, let's not make this more painful than it is. I don't really need any help here, so just one of you being at the counter with me is enough. The other can wash up, restock stuff, or just fk off into the breakroom."
  138. >"breakroom"
  139. >just another hovel, with some lawn chairs and a vending machine
  140. "I have to be present at all time."
  141. >you added, pointing at the camera overlooking the counter
  142. "You don't. I don't know. Did Stolas fudge the numbers or something?"
  143. >the other two shrugged
  144. "...Hope you're not getting paid out of my share."
  145. >you grumbled
  146. "Anyways... Work starts at 6, ends at 11... And I'm guessing yours does too, because the frogmouth didn't mention anything about the shift change. If you have a phone or anything, feel free to use it, just don't whack off or anything. Toilet's at the back, employees can enter from the inside, I manage the storage... That's about it."
  147. >"E-kHEMM!"
  148. >you groaned, and looked at Blitzo, who stood before you, arms crossed
  149. "What?"
  150. >"What about the pumps?"
  151. >you shrugged
  152. "It's self-service. They only come in to pay and shop. Besides..."
  153. >and you pointed towards the door
  154. "You wouldn't want to get outside."
  155. >eyebrows raised, both demons looked to the side, and were quickly taken aback at the Exterminators crowding before the door
  156. >"...Fk, forgot about 'em..." Blitzo murmured
  157. >"WHAT THE FK ARE THOSE DOING THERE?!" Verosika shrieked
  158. >you shrugged
  159. "Beats me. The place having a door to Hell probably attracts them."
  160. >"So... We're stuck IN here..." the succubus muttered
  161. "Pretty much."
  162. >you nodded
  163. >"For 17 hours a day, for the next month." Blitzo added
  164. "Yup."
  165. >you gotta admit, the spreading dismay on their faces was quite amusing
  166. "Well, only three weeks for you, but..."
  167. >he immediately jumped on it, pointing at the succubus with a sardonic "HA!", to which she could only scowl
  168. >inwardly, you groaned
  169. >this'll be a LONG month
