1. DADA LECTURE:
 2. Hello everyone! I'm very excited to be invited by your professor to talk to you today about zombies! As some of you may know, I am from Savannah, Georgia. Georgia is located in the southern part of the United states where zombies roam. It is also where you can find the Zombie trail, so naturally, all witches and wizards from my neck of the woods are trained to deal with Zombies. There is little chance you'd ever encounter a zombie unless you go to that region, but nevertheless, it's a very useful bit of information to have should you ever find yourself facing off with a zombie!

3. Zombies are Dark Creatures, native to the Southern United States. If you see a "zombie" and you aren't in that region, you're seeing an Inferius. Which is similar to zombie, but not quite the same thing. You can tell them apart from an Inferius by their greyish skin and rotten smell. Inferi were created from magic, not infection, and are skeletal and have some of the physical traits as the human they were made from. Zombies also have an insatiable hunger for living flesh. Inferi aren't hungry for humans, they are simply puppets who do their violently do their master's bidding. Both of these creatures are highly dangerous, but in a lot of ways, Zombies are the more dangerous creature of the two because an Inferius won't attack if you leave it undisturbed. Zombies are hunting for you.

4. Zombies were once people who were infected by another zombie. Being infected by a zombie works the same way as being infected by a werewolf. Their saliva, mixed with your blood, will infect you. While it is important for the wound to be cleansed, it is almost impossible to stop the infection once bitten. Only very rarely has amputating a limb every actually worked in stopping the bitten from transforming into a zombie themselves. Once infected it is important to understand that once the transformation from human to zombie is complete - the human they once were was gone. If ever faced with a zombie, do not ever try to reason with it or even attempt to communicate with it, even if that zombie was once your own sister. It is important to dispose of a zombie immediately to contain them.

5. In order to dispose of a zombie, you must damage the Frontal Lobe because that is the part of the brain that remains animated after the rest of the brain has shut down. Some uneducated individuals think that simply hitting a zombie in the head with something like a golf club will suffice. I'm here to tell you that this is wrong and a fast way to become infected yourself. The best way to dispose of a zombie is to perform the full body-bind curse (Incantation: Petrificus Totalus) on the zombie to immobilize it. This is the only spell strong enough to hold a zombie. Please do not attempt to use the Freezing charm, it simply isn't strong enough. After paralyzing the zombie, use the Reductor Curse on the head. The skull is one of the thickest bones in the body and the curve of our skulls are perfectly designed to take a lot of blunt force trauma. The Reductor Curse (Incantation: Reducto) will blast the skull into pieces. This process, as you can imagine, is very messy, so it is best to stand back.

6. Some Muggles (or No-Maj's, as we like to call them) are obsessed with the idea of a "Zombie Apocalypse" where a mass infection begins and zombies take over the globe. I am here to tell you that this will never happen. MACUSA has a branch of highly trained aurors who hunt and dispose of zombies. While there have been outbreaks, the most recent in Florida back in 2012, we have always managed to contain them before any outbreaks reach catastrophic levels. While it is difficult to completely get rid of Zombies, there always seems to be one or two left behind, it is a situation that we have under control, just like any other Dark Creature. I would also like to point out again that zombies are only native to the Southern United States. Any other "zombie sightings" in the world are really Inferi and should be dealt with accordingly.

7. If you happen to come across a real zombie, it is important to first dispose of the creature. After that, you need to contact MACUSA's Body for Protection of Magical Species. They handle all magical creatures, including Dark Creatures. It is important to know that if you've come across one zombie, there is almost definitely another one somewhere near by. The Body for Protection of Magical Species will work with the US Auror Division to hunt down and dispose of the other zombies in the area. They will also work with the Federal Bureau of Covert Vigilance and No-Maj Obliviation to make sure that any Muggles involved in an outbreak are obliviated and can get back to living their lives. If you are interested in studying zombies further, or would like to see one up close in a safe environment, we do have the Zombie Trail. It's a popular destination for Zombie enthusiasts, where hikers can encounter real zombies. While these zombies are real and dangerous, they are controlled by the staff of the park. In other words, while it is a thrilling adventure, no visitor has ever been infected while on the trail. All zombies dwelling in that area were transported there from other parts of the country instead of being disposed of in the usual manner.

8. Thank you so much for letting me come to your lesson today!
