  34.
  35. 1) meeting requirement - what it takes to show the purple on galaxy mat
  36. 2) unlock requirement - what it takes to actually be able to talk to and start using the engineer (bring whatever is listed to them)
  37. 3) each engineer can have a "max grade" in a specific equipment and lower max grades in others. IE Elvira can have a max grade of 5 in FSD's and a max grade of 2 or 1 in shield generator and thrusters. You have to unlock these grades
  38. 4) The max grade is tied to the engineers "rep or rank". Unlock the engineer at grade 5 by doing bluepritns or whatever is listed on the site. So for example if you upgrade FSD to 3 then
  39.
  40.
  41. ALL the other FSD and shield generator and thruster patterns get unlocked up to lvl 3 as well (up to the max grade they can be unlocked)
  42. 5) When you upgrade any pattern it goes towrds the enginners entire "grade access" aka rank/rep. This is then applied to all patterns they have and will be unlocked up to that grade level
  43. 6) You can use lvl 1 paterns repeatedly to unlock higher and higher
  44. 7) Ideal method of upgrading:
  45. A) Use lvl 1 pattern to go to rank 3 or possibly 4. You can use the same pattern again and again and then discard the changes instead of applying them.
  46. B) Once at rank 3 or 4 use that rank 3 pattern to go to 4 and 4 pattern to 5 to 5. Will only take 3-4 attempts to do so
  47. 8) Even if you max out a lvl 1, 2 , or 3 pattern you can still use these patterns to lvl up the other ones as its all tied back to the engineer person.
  48. A) Unlock each one
  49. B) Max out each engineers grade as much as you can before moving onto the next with the materials you have on you. Especially if that engineer unlocks more engineers.
  50. c) Once all engineers unlocked figure out blueprints you want to apply and the materials you have vs the materials you need so you can grind for those materials.
  51. 8) All required landing pads are L. However with the ones requiring rep I would recommend getting a small/medium ship to expand your mission options there.
  52. 9) Honestly before you start this I personally would recommend you try to get an elite rank first. You will gian a lot of materials needed by doing this and you will have gained the money
  53. 10) Be aware that you may need to log out / log in for enginneers to update the counters correctly.(hopefully) to make it easier to do these unlocks. Alternatively you can do this starting out and use this guide and such as a way to start playing all aspects of the game and actually attempt to make a little bit of money.
  54.
  55.
  56. Unlock order:
  57. -------------------------
  58. ***Anyone with a (grade 3-4) means you need to unlock that to unlock the engineers below
  59. ***The top non indented engineers are publically available the indented - means you must unlock from the engineer its indented under
  60. ***All rep unlocks require you to get to the required rep and then pick up an "engineer" mission from the mission board for that rep and deliver it to a random system 1 jump away.

  415. =========================================
  416.
  417. Mining https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6awHAOP76o
  418. -----------------
  419. ***Mine at least 500 tons of ore
  420. - Mine close to a system that has a station with controlling faction: Alioth Independents
  421. - Sell the 500 tons at this station to get Allied with Alioth Independents faction and unlock Alioth permit needed for Bill Turner
  422. - Mine Pristine Reserve Metalic rings for: Platinum, Painite, Palladium, gold
  423. 10 units of Painite
  424. - Metalic rings
  425. 50 units of Bromellite
  426. - Ice rings
  427.
  428. Gather Materials:
  429. To get the basic materials (nickle, iron and so forth) you can either collect them while mining or do the following:
  430. 1. Get an SRV hanger on your ship with an SRV
  431. 2. Look in system map for planets and see if they have nickle, iron and the materials you want
  432. 3. Land in your shipa nd get out in your SRV
  433. 4. Start Scanning for Materials
  434. A) Dismiss your ship as it appears as a signal on your wave scanner
  435. B) If you see ANYTHING on your wave scanner that means there is something in that direction
  436. C) If you wave scanner is blank in part of the area nothing is that way
  437. D) Try to make the signal be in the middle of your wave scanner
  438. E) If you are far away it will take up the entire width of the wave scanner
  439. F) As you get closer it will be come narrower and narrower
  440. G) when it is really narrow keep an eye on your radar for a white square. This is the resource
  441. H) One you see it lock onto the chunk of rock
  442. I) Shoot the chunk of rock to break it into pieces
  443. J) Lock onto each piece and run it over with cargo scoop open to pick up the piece
  444. K) Repeat. If nothing is on wave scanner in any direction keep driving in a random direction or pick a new spot on the planet
  445. ***The |||| that appear usually on the top of the waver scanner is normally a man made object so canisters/ crashed ship
  446. ***The distance is determined by how narrow or wide the signal is on your scanner not if its on the top or bottom of the wave scanner

  448.
  449. 1,100,000 credits worth of combat bonds
  450. - combat bonds appear to work from anywhere.
  451. - it appears you do NOT need to have the same type of combat bonds but just a cumlative amount across all your combat bonds
  452. - Juri Ishmaak used 100k from tambe corp
  453. - Colonel Bris Dekker used 185,200 from Tambe corp and 814800 from LTT 12787 JET CREATIVE CORP
  454. - To recap you need a total of 1,100,000 combat bonds (not bountys) from anywhere to give to Juri Ishmaak (100k) and Colonel Bris Dekker (1 million).

  457.
  458. Also if anyone is interested in time it took me 2-3 weeks to complete this whole process. However about 1/3-1/2 of that was spent researching all of this, what to do HOW to do each part and find things and so forth. So hopefully this can shave a week or so off of your grinding :3
  459.
  460. I had already achieved Elite trading rank and gotten to Duke and Admiral or whatever with Empire and Federation as well. I'd unlocked and purchased both Cutter and corvette and outfitted both before I started this. If you are just starting out the grind for the higher ranks with Empire and Federation do take a while :/ Just have to keep doing lots of missions. ....Lots...and Lots....QQ. That will be the biggest grind in my opinion if you have not gotten those Fed and imperial ranks.
  461.
  462. If you want to know the best way to grind it Im not sure.....I know when I did it I basically found 2 systems where all the stations (or almost all) offered data missions between the systems....and you just fly from station to station stacking "data delivery" and a few cargo delivery missions, go to the other system, turn in at each station and pick up the same missions going back as you turn in the original ones. Rince repeat. Actually made decent money doing it but yea was a pain. Took forever.
