  1. ROBERT DARIN LAVENDER
  2.
  3. Robert Darin Lavender, age 42, of Genoa Arkansas, passed away February 4, 2020, at his residence.
  4.
  5. Darin was born March 8, 1977 in Texarkana, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Sheila Lavender. He was survived by two uncles, Ron Dupree of Hooks, Texas, and Rodney Gannaway of Genoa, Arkansas, two cousins Sonya Ayers of Plano, Texas and Shelly Byrd of Redwater, Texas, a number of other relatives, an innumerable amount of friends, and four adorable fur children.
  6.
  7. Darin was the proud owner of Know It All Trivia. He was the man who actually first introduced trivia to the Texarkana area, and quickly brought in untold numbers of new patrons to multiple bars and restaurants in the area. You could find Darin and one of his co-trivia masters of ceremony: Clay Monts, Jesse Capps, Josh Foster, Chris Ford, or Jason Walz, many nights of the week at places like Pop’s Place, Fat Jack’s, and The Arrow Bar; entertaining, and making us all just a little bit smarter about a multitude of subjects.

  9. Darin had been a musician for the better part of his life. Over the years he had been in multiple, well-known, Texarkana area bands which were each made up of his close friends, including Wiseguy- which included Beau Shoulders, Craig Kidd, and Dave Campbell, Grey Sky Campaign- made up of the same members with the exception of a replacement of one member by Frank Pryor, and Giganto- which was comprised of Kelly Moore, Marc Runion, and Michael Runion; but his latest foray into music was with the beloved band Old Flames. With his bandmates Jim Reed, Marc Runion, and Michael Runion, these four collectively created an amazing new sound that also harkened back to the good old days of 90’s alternative rock. The Old Flames worked a full year and a half in the studio on recording and mixing; with Darin being the driving force behind them to get what would be his first full-length album recorded and released. He would be proud of this final piece of art being his legacy.

  11. Our extraordinary Darin left behind an untold amount of people who knew and greatly loved him. Even when it came to people who had only ever met Darin briefly, he left them with a beautiful, permanent mark on their lives. He was a man that exuded kindness, love, generosity, and a peace that just seemed to surround him wherever he went. He was a man that would give you the shirt off his back, or the last $5 he had, even if he didn’t know you. When he passed from this world, a hole was left in each and every heart of us who knew Darin, and he will be missed more than the words on this page could ever say. We only wish he would have known just how big of an impact he left on so many more people than he could have ever imagined.
  12.
  13. A celebration of his life will be at 3:00 PM Saturday, February 22, 2020, at the Texarkana Funeral Home Arkansas Chapel.
