Episode 32

Meet the Family

(Kevin's Driveway)

(Kevin and Kyle finish loading the car with suitcases and stuff)

Kyle: We'll be gone for three weeks.
Kevin: Think you can hold down the fort while we're gone?
Tikal: No problem!
Ryan: You guys have a good time.

(Kevin and Kyle get in the car with the others and drive away)

(Clockwise wipe)

(The car drives down the highway; "Dangerous" by Shark Island plays on the stereo)

Cream: Where are we going?
Kevin: We're going to our Mom and Dad's place for a few weeks.
Kyle: You guys are going to see where we used to live. You'll love it!
Tails: Really?
Kyle: Sure! Palmetto Beach is Heaven on Earth!  It's got amusement parks, resort wear shops, mini-golf, water parks, arcades, and white sand beaches.
Sonic: I'll pass on two of those.

(Shadow looks out the left window of the car, they pass a big sprinkler spraying water on crops)

Shadow: Hmm?

(Amy is starring out the right window. A boy is chasing a girl with a running water hose)

Amy: ?

(Tails is facing ahead. The car's sprinklers spray water on the windshield. The windshield wipers wipe the water off)

Tails: (Thinking) Uh-oh.
Amy: Uh, Kyle?
Tails: What?
Amy: I made a pee-pee.
Kyle: Don't worry, we're about five minutes away from home. When we get there we'll change your diaper.

(They pass a sign reading: "Welcome to Palmetto Beach--South Island's Gem Port"; Song ends)

(Beach House)

(The car pulls into the driveway)

(They get out and walk to the door; Kyle knocks)

Woman's Voice: Come in!

(They go in)

(Living Room)

(They see Melissa, Kevin's mother)

Melissa: Kevin? Kyle?
Kevin: Mom!

(They hug)

Melissa: Hey, Hideo! The boys are here!

(Hideo, Kevin and Kyle's father comes in)

Hideo: Kevin! Kyle! Welcome home!
Kyle: Uh, Kids, Vanilla, this is our Mom, Melissa, and our Dad, Hideo.
Hideo: Oh, so you're Vanilla. Kevin told me much about you.

(Vanilla bushes with her hand behind her head)

Vanilla: These are the babies. That's Amy, Knuckles, and Rouge.
Kevin: This is Tails and Cream.
Kyle: And this twosome's Sonic and Shadow.
Melissa: They're so cute
Kevin: Yeah, but right now I've gotta change three of them. Shadow, Amy, Tails, come along.

(Later...)

(Amy is chasing Sonic)

Amy: You can't escape me, Sonic!
Sonic: Leave me alone, Amy!
Melissa: Those babies sure do love to go around like that, do they?
Hideo: Kinda reminds me of Kyle when he was their age
Knuckles: How's that?
Melissa: All the time, Kyle and Kevin was always running around so much, it's fun to see.

(Amy's still after him; She tackles him from behind; Melissa giggles)

(Amy cuddles with a very reluctant Sonic)

Sonic: Let go! Let Go! I can't breathe!
Melissa: I gotta get a shot of this.
Vanilla: Now, Amy, Sonic needs some air.

(Flash)

Hideo: This is going in our album.

(Shadow is looking around the room)

Tails: What's wrong?
Shadow: I'm bored. There has to be something to do.
Kevin: Do you have anything fun for the babies, Dad?
Hideo: Hmm...

(Vanilla picks up Cream)

Vanilla: Well, I'll give them a bath while you think of something.
Sonic: A bath!? No way!

(Vanilla takes his hand and drags him in)

Vanilla: Knuckle, you too!
Knuckles: Coming!
Sonic: There's no fun taking a bath!
Kyle: Ever heard of good clean fun?
Sonic: Very funny, Kyle!
Kyle: I know, that's why I said it.
Kevin: Well, he does have a point.

(Shadow watches with a smirk)

(A few seconds later, Sonic darts out without his diaper)

Kevin: Oh, no you don't!

(Sonic is dragged into the bathroom by his tail)

Sonic: I don't wanna take a bath! Don't give me a bath! I want my Lawyer! I want my Mommy! I want my LAWYER'S Mommy!

(He starts crying)

(A little later...)

(Kevin dries Sonic off while Vanilla gives Cream and Amy a bath, Knuckles walks up; Sonic is softly sobbing)

Knuckles: Boy, I feel great! Nothing like a nice warm bath!
Shadow: That wasn't so bad, wasn't it?
Sonic: It was!
Shadow: Will you quit being a...
Sonic: *Sniff* Kevin, make them stop!
Kevin: Aw, come on, take it easy! You made it through, you're going to be okay. C'mon, I'll give you a Mr. Nut candy bar!
Sonic: No!
Kevin: How about a cookie?
Sonic No!
Kevin: What'll I have to do to make it all better?
Sonic: I want you to beat up Knuckles!
Knuckles: What!? Ooh, good luck with that one!
Melissa: There will be no fighting here.

Tails: Ooh, look what I found!

(It's an old video game console)

Rouge: What is it?
Kyle: Oh, I see you found our old video game stash. Me and Kevin use to spend time playing games in front of the TV.
Kevin: You've found our old Nintega Gaming System II.
Kyle: Let's just hook together and fire it up.
Tails: Is that what it's called? I thought it was discontinued until it becomes used as an alternete musical instriment.
Kyle: It was discontinued, for the NGS3.
Shadow: Let's see what's in the box! Wow! "Racer's Dream", the original "Ninjitsu", these are great!
Tails: Some of these you can't even get outside Japan!
Hideo: Well, we visited their grandparents in Nagoya a few times...

(Later, that night...)

(Kyle and Shadow are playing "Street Fight", a 2D side-scrolling beat'em up similar to "Double Dragon")

Kyle: Oh yeah! Oh yeah! Watch out for that punk, Shadow!
Shadow: You can't beat me!

(Shadow knocks out the punk)

(Another set of punks come in from both sides with bats and knives)

(Kyle's sprite tosses a steel barrel at them)

(Shadow lays the smackdown on two punks coming from the left side of the screen)

(The boss comes up from the background: A bald, muscular guy in a muscle shirt weilding chains)

(They take out the four on-screen punks)

(Shadow's sprite decks the boss with a pair of flying kicks)

Melissa: I'd say Shadow's a prodogy.

(Kyle's sprite kicks the boss. Shadow's sweeps. Shadow gets hit)

Knuckles: *cheering them on* Yeah! Get at their faces!
Sonic: Come on! Come on!

(Kyle socks the boss, beating him)

(Both sprites pose. Message: "Stage 1 Complete")

Kyle: Great work!
Rouge: Hey, Kyle, what's with that big cup in your room?
Kyle: What?

(Kyle's Room)

(There is a large trophy on the shelf over his TV)

Kyle: Oh, my trophy!
Sonic: Trophy?
Tails: "Winner of the 23rd Annual Palmetto Beach Video Gaming Tournament, 2013, Kyle Azuka."
Kyle: Maybe you should enter, Shadow.
Shadow: Really?
Hideo: Don't you have to be a certain age.
Kyle: Nah, there's no age limit. Shadow would do great.

(Shadow smiles)

Kyle: I just hope... he can beat the guy who beat me...

(The kids look towards Kyle in suspense)
