  1. For the last 3 years I have been working as a waiting list co-ordinator within Endoscopy and I now feel that with the experience I have gained in this time, I am ready to progress and find different challenges.
  2. During the time in my current position I have gained a number of skills and abilities that I believe have helped me grow.
  3.
  4. Due to the very busy nature of the waiting list co-ordinator role I have to be both methodical and organised to ensure tasks are completed. I plan my time but am able to adapt to unexpected situations or demands by prioritising my work load accordingly. I have built very good relationships with my office team workers and the nurses and staff on the ward, and especially with the consultants who come to me with queries or special requests regarding their own lists or patients. Each list I am responsible for filling holds its own criteria that has to be considered so attention to detail is of the utmost importance.
  5. I understand confidentiality and make sure that each interaction I have with any personal records are maintained in accordance with all NHS guidelines.
  6. I have learnt how to use my in depth knowledge of the procedures we carry out, and the time frames involved, to solve possible complex situations, liaise with patients and staff to make sure all parties are aware of what is happening. I can identify when to escalate or ask for help with troublesome patient cases and ensure that patients feel that their needs and circumstances are taken into consideration with tact and delicacy.
  7. I use the e-mail system and the telephone to communicate clearly with colleagues both in this hospital and Milton Keynes as I am responsible for selecting patients that are suitable for out-sourcing. I then update the sytems and ensure the correct details are sent across, updating spreadsheets and forwarding on any results to the relevant secretarys.
  8. I have the responsibility of delivering high priority monthly financial reports that have to be consistently accurate and this showcases my ability to be trusted, and deliver to a tight schedule. I consider myself to be conscientious with a good work ethic, and the enthusiasm to motivate others to act similarly.
  9.
  10. In summary I believe my key skills to be a trustworthy, hard working individual who also excels also in a team. I feel my abilities would be well suited to this position.
