Glögg
Ingredients
- 5 liters of svagdricka (Wikipedia). This can be emulated by mixing dark beer and lemonade.
- 5 raw potatoes, peeled and sliced.
- 50 g of regular baker's yeast (not dried).
- 2.5 kg of granulated sugar.
- 500 g of raisins.
- 1 bag (around 15 g) of whole cloves.
- 1 bag (around 20 g) of cardamom seeds.
- 5 cm of fresh ginger.
- 1 cinnamon stick.
Equipment
- One clean 10+ liter bucket (plastic works fine).
- Clean bottles.
- Plastic film.
- (Optional) Siphon.
Steps
Step 1
Mix all ingredients together in the bucket.
Step 2
Cover the bucket with plastic film and make small air holes in the film.
Step 3
Let the bucket rest in room temperature for 3-6 weeks.
Step 4
Carefully pour into a jug or use a siphon to avoid the sediment that has formed at the bottom. You can also use a strainer while pouring.
Step 5
Fill the bottles. The bottles can be stored for a couple of years.
Step 6
Heat up and serve with raisins and scalloped almonds. Enjoy!
