- 'Sup, doods!
- March is coming closer, meaning three things:
- One, it's starting to warm up again. The snow that piled on me last week has melted quite a bit. I had to work from home on Tuesday afternoon and all day Wednesday because getting out of my driveway was a no-go. Quite frankly, I could get used to that. If I could find a job from home, I could be a lot more productive with my YouTube channel... and get a lot more sleep in the process.
- Two, the major Tetris Attack tournament is about to start. This two-month bustle I am about to undertake is definitely one of the things that gets me going every year. This beginning part will be more interesting than before due to the flat bracket I put in place. I'm one of the top four players that have a bye from the first two rounds. The first few matches will be a lot closer on paper than in the previous tournaments. Some people have dropped from the tournament, though, so it's gonna start out a little slower than I anticipated. That might be a blessing, though doods, because...
- And three, it only took two and a half years, but I am finally ready to move my Puzzle League tutorial series into video production! I've had this thing hanging over my head for a while now. I got preoccupied with the other things I was trying to add to the channel. Now, I am fully motivated to move forward with pushing the tutorial series into the next stage. We'll see how much time I do end up getting during the Tetris Attack tournament to work on this part.
- In other news, that was quite the move Twitch pulled, wasn't it, doods? Fortunately for me and you, most of the speedruns on my Twitch page I would want to save have been saved on YouTube. I've downloaded the rest that I can and cleaned up my page so I can make highlights again. It's a scary proposition for more than a few creators, however. Several have hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of highlights and uploads that they made specifically for Twitch consumption. Now, Twitch is limiting those videos to 100 hours in total. Even videos you have saved that Twitch no longer has the video file to play count towards the limit. I had about a dozen of those that I had to get rid of, too. I learned the error of my ways several years ago and keep local recordings of all of my broadcasts...
- ...including the YouTube members only stream I did on Saturday to finish up my tutorial scripts. I might need to do more of those in the future to get stuff done, huh?
- Now if you'll excuse me, doods, I need to get back to my Shorts. I need to schedule some more soon.
- Today's (permanent) extra streaming goals:
- Goal #1: record footage for my Puzzle League tutorial series. The scripts are done! I am now challenging myself to find time amidst my tournament duties to work on recording the gameplay. I would then need voice-over on top of that. In a perfect world, I would be done with all of that by the end of next month. Maybe I do members only streams to get this done?
- Goal #2: release the Puzzle League tutorial series YouTube shorts once a day until they're all done. I really do think I need to time the release of the series with a ramping up of my streaming schedule so that I can take advantage of whatever there is to gain from releasing the shorts. I have come to realize that if I am going to make my target date, I need to put this above everything else because I don't have as much time or motivation during the week as I thought I would.
- Goal #3: clean up my own stream layout. Most of the framework necessary for a semi-proper stream is done now thanks to streaming the process, though I'm not currently motivated to stream any other part of it at the moment. Next major objective is to make alerts. I have stream reaction clips to put in. Emotes, one or two alternate overlay themes, and alternate timer themes would come soon after. As soon as I think of things to put in, I will add them to the list. NEW: I added a list of reactions I want to add in my Discord server. If you have any time to kill and want to contribute, check out my Discord.
- Goal #4: catch up on video archives that I have yet to upload since I restarted streaming. I may put them on a separate channel.
- Goal #5: edit personal best videos in Tetris Attack Easy – V-Hard (post commentary recorded) and Normal (post commentary recorded)—and everything I did in Pokemon Puzzle Week—and that S-Hard PB—and that V-Hard WR—and that Easy – S-Hard WR—and that TA Easy PB—and another Easy – V-Hard PB. Standalone archival videos are already attached to my speedrun profile. I'm hoping to make eye-catching productions from each speedrun. I'm considering it to be my personal test to be a YouTuber. I am failing miserably right now.
- Goal #6: finalize the tournament layout once and for all in a way that I can adapt for every game we might play. Until someone volunteers to help broadcast the matches in my stead, this is not actually a top priority. I feel like making this happen will encourage others to help out, not the other way around. There has been virtually no interest so far.
- This week's schedule:
- Friday @8pm-12am ET – Friday Night Salt Mines – Gotta Promote That Major Edition, Doods
- Saturday @2pm-4pm ET – twitch.tv/puzzlespeedrun – TA2025 Opening Round Day 1
- Sunday @2pm-4pm ET – twitch.tv/puzzlespeedrun – TA2025 Opening Round Day 2
- That’s my life story for the week. Until next time, everyone, be decent to each other. Later, doods!
