  1. ➤ GROUP NAME: dulcet
  2. ➤ COMPANY: star empire entertainment
  3. ➤ PARTICIPATING MEMBERS:
  4. ▬ BELLE (SONG CHAERYOUNG) ⁝ @hansolberry
  5. chaeryoung, known by her stage name belle, is the introverted and reserved main vocalist of dulcet. in a world full of lively and outspoken people, belle prefers to stay in her own little bubble where she just wants to focus solely on her passion, which is music. due to that, she is the wallflower of dulcet—nevertheless, many fans still appreciate and love belle and her heartfelt singing endlessly.
  6. ▬ KAORI (NAKAMURA KAORI) ⁝ @kkulfm
  7. kaori is the arrogant main rapper and main dancer of dulcet. she is the group’s beagle because of her loud and extroverted personality which heavily contrasts that of belle’s. she is known to have a malicious aura and drop rather rude remarks that get mistaken as harmless jokes—but are they really just harmless?
  8.
  9. ➤ DEBUT DATE: december 23, 2014
  10. ➤ TOTAL NUMBER OF MEMBERS: initially, dulcet had debuted as a five-piece girl group. unfortunately, two members made the grand decision to leave during the flirt era in june of 2016, due to dulcet’s adversity as a successful k-pop idol group. since then, dulcet has continued on with three members.
  11. ➤ DEBUT SONG: happily ever after - red velvet
  12. ➤ ERAS:
  13. ▬ HAPPILY EVER AFTER (december 2014)
  14. happily ever after is arguably dulcet’s most successful song and era. although the song never reached first place on any music show it came as close as third place, and its mini album was well-received by the general public. the bar was set high for the future of dulcet.
  15. ▬ DARLING DARLING (may 2015)
  16. in comparison to happily ever after, darling darling was a mediocre era that left many anticipating fans and netizens disappointed. the song was rarely ever played on radio stations—when it was played, it was on rather small radio stations—the song didn’t even reach top ten on music shows, and album sales had dropped noticeably. as a result, there was a loss of public interest in dulcet.
  17. ▬ DULCE (september 2015)
  18. despite darling darling’s shortfall of a comeback, dulcet still released their first ever full-length album. surprisingly, it did better than darling darling did by charting eighth at highest and selling a few thousand more copies. nonetheless, the harm from darling darling had already been inflicted, and dulce’s increase in success was so minimal that it did virtually nothing for dulcet.
  19. ▬ SWEET TALK (february 2016)
  20. thinking that the problem was their innocent and pure theme, dulcet’s next comeback had an entirely different concept. a handful of other successful girl groups had recently acquired a girl crush concept, making dulcet believe that they would become just as successful if they did so, too. however, the so-called ‘luring’ concept seemed to work the other way around, taking them to a brand new low that they had never experienced before—not even with darling darling.
  21. ▬ FLIRT (june 2016)
  22. the members of dulcet did not want to go through with flirt as another girl crush themed comeback due to sweet talk’s whole fiasco. however, star empire had already planned for a repackage album from the time of sweet talk. expectedly, flirt garnered the same reception as its senior.
  23. ▬ ONCE UPON A TIME (december 2016)
  24. going back to their roots, dulcet's most recent comeback, once upon a time, paid homage to the happily ever after era. its mini album had charted higher and sold more than dulcet's last comebacks did, however, it just couldn’t come as close to happily ever after's success.
  25.
  26. ➤ GROUP INTRODUCTION: “dul, set… annyeonghaseyo, dulcet-imnida!”
  27. ➤ CONCEPT: dulcet’s overall concept is considered “sweet” and “pure”. there was a change to a stronger girl crush concept that only lasted for two comebacks, sweet talk and flirt, during 2016.
  28.
  29. ➤ ANY SCANDALS:
  30. ▬ around two weeks into the sweet talk era, a video of kaori had been uploaded online. it featured her cursing at a few fans, who were waiting outside of a music show, and naming them the reason for dulcet’s downfall. of course, it had only inflicted more negative attention on dulcet and made them even more disliked by the general public.
  31. ➤ GROUP COLORS: #EAAC9C (coral pink), #F5EF96 (yellow iris)
  32. ➤ COMMON LINE DISTRIBUTION:
  33. ▬ as the main vocalist of dulcet, it’s a given that belle sings most of the singing lines. because of that, she receives an ample amount of center-time in their dances. whenever it comes to rap and dance breaks, kaori proudly handles all of said parts with ease.
  34. ▬ DISTRIBUTION PERCENTAGES
  35. line distribution: 50% belle, 30% haeun, 20% kaori
  36. center distribution: 45% kaori, 30% belle, 25% haeun
  37. ➤ GROUP DYNAMIC:
  38. ▬ if anything, the members of dulcet strictly have a business relationship with each other. their personalities, especially belle’s and kaori’s, differ greatly from one another, and the saying “opposites attract” definitely does not happen to be the case with dulcet. the bridge that brings the gap between belle and kaori together is haeun, the third member of dulcet. but since haeun is not going to be participating on encore alongside her bandmates, needless to say, it’s going to be interesting.
  39. ➤ SUCCESSES:
  40. ▬ dulcet’s debut song, happily ever after, was an immediate hit, nearly ranking first on music shows.
  41. ▬ recently, belle was praised for her powerful vocals after uploading a solo singing cover on dulcet’s youtube channel.
