[center][b]Chapter 5: Hidden Adam[/b][/center]

Kaith walked around Traverse Town, having been populated over the last ten years. He was investigating the ships that deliver a miracle product that belong to Cain Co. and some of the effects of this product intrigued Kaith's commander. "It couldn't be, could it?"

"[i]You mean Adam and Plasmids, right?[/i]" A voice in his head asked.

Kaith sighed. "Of course! After what happened back there, Lukgar, who would repeat that tragedy?"

"[i]There was Isaac but you killed him. Ron but he died in that explosion. Ryan but according to Jack, he killed him and Fontaine who was killed by the Little Sisters.[/i]" Lukgar chuckled at the last part.

Kaith rolled his eyes. "Let's just investigate. Now where to find some info?"

"I'd be welcome to answer your question. " Kaith turned around and saw a young man in his 24's with cut, messy brown hair that fell to his shoulders, bright green eyes wearing a black cap on his head, a dark brown shirt with a dark blue jacket over it, a yellow scarf, light blue jeans and brown boots. The young man was grinning at Kaith. "Name's Kai. Investigative reporter seeking a story. I've got some info if you want."

"I've heard of you. You're a very popular reporter for the Radiant Garden Times. What do you want in exchange for the info?" Kaith said.

Kai grinned further. "Straight and to the point. I like that. You just take me with you and I'll tell you what I know."

"[i]Something's creepy about this guy! I think we met him before![/i]" Lukgar said.

Kaith knew Lukgar had a point. He remembered meeting Kai before although this is the first time they meet and where? He shook his head then looked at Kai. "You got a deal. What can you tell me about Cain Co. and it's products?"

"If heard they're a wonderful thing. I'd like to try one meself." Kai replied. "Their called Plasmids and are made of some stuff called Adam."

Kaith stood there, his helmet hiding his shock. "[i]No! That's impossible! Someone knew about Adam and that hell hole?![/i]"

"[i]That a big ten-four! We gotta find out who owns Cain Co. and how he knew of that place.[/i]" Lukgar said and Kaith agreed.

"Kai! Do you know were the ship transporting the Plasmids docked?" Kaith asked.

"Sure do!" Kai said, excitedly. "I know a secret passage in the Gizmo shop that leads there. Just follow me." Kai walked ahead and Kaith followed.

The two fouynd the secret passage underneath a clock and walked through it for an hour before reaching a docking hangar where large men in old diving suits were carrying the cargo out of the ship. Kaith growled as he looked at the men. "Big Daddies! That means the Little Sisters are here as well."

Kai looked at Kaith confused. "You mean Cain Co.'s mascots. I heard they have an important job in searching for Adam."

"They do! Let's see if we can follow those Big Daddies." Kaith suggested. The two quietly followed the Big Daddies. On the way, Kaith noticed the Brutes patrolling the halls. "Brutes are here as well. I thought most of them were killed by the Flood."

"[i]That means whoever knew of the Brutes also knew of that hellish place. It could only be the work of an External Interference.[/i]" Lukgar said.

Kaith had also come to the same conclusion and resumed following a Big Daddy with Kai in tow.

A Man in his late 30's with brown hair combed back, dark brown eyes wearing a simple businessman's suit looked over the manufactering line before returning to his office. He walked to his desk and touched a button on the intercom. " Jennifer. Please cancel my three o' clock and iof anyone calls, tell them I'm busy unless it's lord Cain or anyone with a message from him."

"Understood, Mr. Brier." Jennifer said through the intercom. Brier then pressed a button, the bookcase moving to the right to reveal an elevator and went down to an open room were Big Daddies were sleeping in capsules on the wall. However, these Big Daddies were different from the ones above, having armor instead of the diving suits, black knight helmets with visors in the eye areas and were carrying heavy weaponry, some with big shields for defense, others with large cannons for long distance attacks and the rest with big axes, broadswords and energy swords for close range combat. Brier smirked to himself as he saw one wake up.

Kaith had already hacked into the system, searching for info as Kai wrote everything down on a small notpad. Kaith looked through the database but found nothing he already knew except something about using Big Daddies as soldiers and slammed his fist at the keyboard. "Damn! Who's crazy enough to actually make Big Daddies into weapons of war?"

"[i]I agree. They were bad enough when guarding the Little Sisters.An army of those things would be unstoppable.[/i]" Lukgar added.

"I don''t know but I'm getting the scoop of a life time." Kai replied with excitement. "I can see the headlines. 'Cain Co. creates Big Daddies as weapons of war.' I'm gonna be famous."

Kaith ignored Kai then found a map leading to a hidden elevator. "Looks like that elevator can lead us to where they're making those specific Big Daddies. Problem is, we need an Executive I.D. to be able to use it."

"No problem mate. I got one right here." Kai took out an I.D. and showed it to Kaith who nodded and the two left. They soon found the elevator and using the I.D. went down to the lowest floor. The two found themselves in a room with Big Daddies sleeping in capsules and looked around. Kai took out a camera and began snapping shots. "This is just bloody amazing."

Kaith shrugged. "If you say so." That's when he heard a high pitched sound that was similar to a whale then he looked around with extreme caution. "Go find a place to hide, Kai. I think one of those Big Daddies woke up." Kai did what Kaith told him and Kaith found himself face to face with a Big Daddy. It's visor glowed red as it hefted it's axe the charged at Kaith with great speed. He dodged the attack then snapped his fingers and the Big Daddy was instantly on fire. He then took out a shotgun and began firing Electro Bucks at the Big Daddy, electrocuting it in the process. He then snapped his fingers, burning the Big Daddy and skshot another Electro Buck at it. He kept doing this until the Big Daddy was close to death. At this time, Kaith was almost out of Electro Buck ammo then switch to his UNSC Magnum and shot armor piercing rounds at the Big Daddy, killing it quickly. He then heard clapping from behind and saw Brier behind him. "Are you the one in charge of this place?"

"That's right, Mr. Zivaku. Yes, I know who you are. Our leader is very interested in you." Brier said.

"He is?" Kaith asked the he realized the truth. "So he did survive."

"That's right. Now if you don't mind, I'd like you to give your unconditional surrender." Brier said as he shot electricity from his hand at Kaith, paralyzing him. Kai panicked and quickly jumped out of his hiding place and tackled Brier. Kaith quickly recovered from his paralysis and charged at Brier who took out a gun and began shooting at him. Kai ran over to the console and saw a vial with green liquid then tossed it at Kaith who was firing back from a corner. He caught then knew what Kai was up to as he injected himself with the liquid. A green ball then materialized on his left hand and he kept shooting at Brier, distracting him from an opening capsule.

"Is that really the best you can do, Cruxis Angel?" Brier asked then ducked under the green ball and sneered at him, running away from his spot and kept shooting at him. "You can't trick me with a plasma grenade."

"Wasn't trying to." Kaith said as Brier heard a growl from behind him and saw and enraged Big Daddy charge at him and was stabbed several times by it's energy sword. Kaith took this chance to place an explosion on the room then activated it and quickly escaped with Kai. The two managed to escape from the facility just before it exploded. "That should cripple them."

"I'll say and thanks for the adventure, Kaith. Hope to work with you again." Kai said then left.

"[i]Well, that was interesting.[/i]" Lukgar said.

Kaith nodded. "Yeah but there's one thing bothering me. How did you survive, Rivers?"

In a desert, a ship landed firmly and from it walked out Telary and Ridley. The dragon looked around, grinning. "This is my kind of place."

Telary growled. "This isn't a vacation, you idiot. We're here to find any alchemy artifacts. Now order the men."

Ridley nodded and gave the order to the men to search. "We should find those ruins, soon."

Telary smirked as he looked at Ridley. "Good. Now I should have an edge against the Resistance. My Dark Empire will soon surpass the Phantom State led by that foo, Cain."
