- >Day 124 at sea
- >While you had always loved life on the water, you had to admit that life in the Navy is, well
- >Shit
- >It didn't help that you and about half your classmates had been forced to enlist, too
- >You continue to scrub at the ship's side rail, making sure you get underneath this time
- >Else you'd be flogged again
- "No, wait, I'm sorry, I didn't mean it!"
- >You look up from your cleaning, turning towards the source of the commotion
- >It's that Norman kid, being hauled over to the main mast by the quartermaster
- >They hold him against it, and tear the back of his shirt open as the captain brings out the Cat O' Nine tails
- >He must have fucked up bad
- >You turn back to your scrubbing, drowning out Norman's wails by whistling your favourite sea shanty
- >Eventually, after many hours of back breaking labour, the right side rain is shined to perfection
- >You stand back to admire your handiwork
- >Surely, this is the most beautiful part of the shi~
- "Ship spotted off the starboard bow, two points!"
- "Colours?"
- "She's not flyin' any!"
- >Your knowledge of nautical terms is a little rusty, but you do remember that starboard = right
- >You scan along your side of the ship, and sure enough, you spot a sloop, with no flag raised
- "Captain, orders!"
- >The captain lowers his telescope, and turns to face the crew
- "Prepare the cannon's, a~"
- >A loud shot is heard, and the captain's body falls to the ground, a bullet wound in his head dripping blood onto the deck
- >The quartermaster steps forward, and begins barking orders
- "Standard battle procedure! Bring out the muskets, prepare the cannons. Go!"
- >The deck erupts into a cacophony of shouting as the ship prepares for battles
- >Before long, the pirates have pulled up alongside, and you can hear them shouting across at the crew above deck
- >You've been placed in charge of one of the cannons, second from the bow
- >On your left is Sunset Shimmer, who is visibly trying to focus on the ensuing battle
- >And to your right is some guy you don't know
- >You look over your shoulder at the Master Gunner, who is standing halfway on the steps to the upper deck
- "Steady, men..."
- >The pirate sloop draws further along your own ship, and now you can see the pirates, who are manning their own cannons
- "Hold..."
- >Some of the pirates are waving their cutlasses
- >Menacingly
- >You steal a glance over at Sunset, who has dropped the tough girl act and looks like she's about to cry
- "FIRE!"
- >The Master Gunner's shout echoes throughout the hull, and you light the fuse
- >You stick your fingers in your ears as the sound of cannons firing fills the hull
- >The pirates do the same, and in no time the side of the ship has been ripped open
- >You scramble to your feet, preparing to load another cannonball, when an explosion blasts you backwards and into a pile of destroyed crates, hitting your head on a beam
- >Over the sound of cannon fire and muskets above deck, you can hear the sound of your fellow crewmen
- >Most, if not all, are screaming in pain, nursing a bullet wound or, in one case, a missing leg
- >You see the quartermaster rush down the stairs, carrying a handful of cutlasses and pistols
- "Everyone, the pirates have boarded the ship! Take a sword and defend this vessel with your life."
- >He tosses one to you, and it clatters to the ground next to you as you pick yourself up
- >You pick it up, and climb the stairs out onto the upper deck
- >It's a complete mess; splintered wood, dead pirates and dead navy men litter the ground
- >This is not what you signed up for
- >Oh wait
- >You didn't sign up at all
- >A pirate rushes at you, his sword raised above his head
- >This is what you've been training for these past 4 months
- >The pirate brings his cutlass down for your arm, and you bring yours up to meet it
- >He was clearly not expecting you to retaliate, and his arm bounces away
- >You take your chance and trip him up, sending the pirate falling to the ground
- >He tries to get back up, but you jam your cutlass through his chest, and he moves no more
