Update on Xenos passing away

Today, I talked to Kristian, Xenos's brother.

He appreciated a lot that we are reaching out to him and he said Xenos would've appreciated it too.

First of all I wished him and the family our condolences.

Secondly, I asked if there's a place we can leave messages or anything. He recommended Xenos' Facebook over at https://www.facebook.com/tor.pettersen

Kristian will put some English text there and turn it into a memorial page when he gets the chance.

Personally I don't have a FB account so it's difficult for me to see what's going on there, but if you want to post anything there go right ahead.

I also have Kristian's mail account now, he said if there's anything else he can do I can e-mail him. I don't think I'll contact him further unless any of you have a specific reason or something.



Kristian told me the story of what happened, I'll type it out here as best as I got it because the phone line was a bit wobbly.

The following took a lot of effort for Kristian to tell, I could hear he had trouble with it. Just like I had trouble hearing it and it'll probably be difficult for you to read this.

You can skip the next part if you don't feel ready to handle it right now, I put all the practical stuff above.

So, as you already know Xenos was called in for the lung transplant. Now, this was a combined lung transplant and heart surgery, they also had to close the hole between his heart chambers (the congenital problem).

But they found out the new set of lungs was too small. I think Kristian said something about the veins of normal lungs being 3 cm in diameter but these were only 5 mm. Maybe I understood wrong. Either way, by the time they found out about the heart surgery was already far underway and his fixed heart just couldn't work with the old lungs.

So the doctors tried their best to stabilize the pressure in the heart chambers but after 3 days it was just not possible anymore and Xenos passed away.


It's just very sad. I don't know what else to say.
