- So BT is proposing that we allow changing the FPS cap mid run to make coverslides more consistent. This is because he consistently flies way too far with the Vault 111 cs regardless of what video settings he has. I would like to know if everyone is for or against this change.
- Note: this stuff only matters if you're going for WR. You can still ignore the slide completely and get a decent time if you just want to have fun with the video game.
- Potential Solutions
- ===================
- Allow FPS to be changed mid run
- - FPS stays below 60 so run speed remains constant
- - Available to all runners
- - Should make the cs more consistent and more have more similar results across computers
- - This uses a 3rd party app to effect the game, which is implicitly banned
- - No one really likes doing this
- - Could be "abused" by hotkeying FPS and changing it all over the run
- - Makes the run less beginner friendly
- - Changing FPS many times in a short period can cause crashes and instability
- Force FPS to be constant throughout the run (but can be sub 60)
- - eg keep FPS at 45 the entire run
- - Makes cs more consistent
- - Could make other things less consistent
- - Less fun to play
- - Shares issues with above solution, but feels a little less bad
- Run CPU heavy apps in the backgound and don't tell anyone
- - eg benchmarking software, OBS local recording at very high quality
- - Incredibly stupid but technically not against the rules
- - Easy to hide
- - Can achieve the same effect as lowering FPS
- - Not viable in the future
- Buy older hardware
- - Dumb, but would allow you to more consistently get the 111 cs
- - In the future when everyone's PC is too good to do this, would you expect everyone to buy older parts just to do this run?
- Ban V111 cs
- - I don't think anyone would want to do this as it's dumb
- Go digging in the inis for something that would make this work without needing to change it mid run
- - Less bad than using an external program to modify
- - No guarantee anything will work
