- [22:32] <NomDeNarrateur> [Some time ago, on Maidcraft: Not an RTS]
- [22:33] <NomDeNarrateur> [Laure has blown up a lot of people and is currently hiding in a bit of cover]
- [22:34] <Crix`> [If maidcraft was an RTS, I would play it]
- [22:34] <NomDeNarrateur> [In time Ng Mui would kick down the door, some barmaids will get a tip, and a lot of mooks will be killed all round]
- [22:35] <NomDeNarrateur> [But right now, Laure needs to...what does she need to do?]
- [22:35] <NomDeNarrateur> [Oh well.]
- [22:35] <NomDeNarrateur> [Roll camera]
- [22:36] * [Rut]Laure goes for the nearest empty room in the hallway, before the imminent flood of escaping survivors comes pouring out the door.
- [22:39] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: it's not hard to find an empty room, though this may change as guests start to panic and the entire mansion rouses in alarm. The doors of most unused rooms are shut, though. It'll be difficult to ascertain their purpose without venturing in.
- [22:39] <NomDeNarrateur> There are doors to either side of you. They all look the same. Pick a door and win a prize.
- [22:41] * [Rut]Laure picks the middle way.
- [22:42] <NomDeNarrateur> Let's see what she's won!
- [22:42] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: you open the door, and...well, it's dark. As would be expected, for an unused room. It may have been used for storage.
- [22:44] <NomDeNarrateur> There is a light switch on the wall, some boxes in a near corner, a table and a chair in another, and a lot of black
- [22:48] * [Rut]Laure ducks into the room. She closes the the door swiftly and fishes in her pockets. A glasses case, a hair tie, and a small white container.
- [22:49] * [Rut]Laure removes and stores her glasses, ties her hair into a low, short ponytail, and takes a pair of contact lenses from the white container. They're blue. She pops them in.
- [22:56] <NomDeNarrateur> ???: "My, you've made quite a mess."
- [22:58] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: is it just you, or does that voice have...an Asian accent?
- [22:59] <[Rut]Laure> Oh, my. I wonder if all of your people pick such strange times to appear.
- [22:59] * [Rut]Laure turns around.
- [23:00] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: indeed, a familiar Asian woman is standing behind you. Her fan covers the lower half of her face making it difficult to determine her expression, but her eyes are certainly not very mirthful
- [23:02] <NomDeNarrateur> ???: "Did you know who that man was? Did you care? You've managed to blow up Lord Eddington. He is--was--a very important man."
- [23:08] <[Rut]Laure> Oh, I'm sorry. I do not recall any such individual being specified in the terms that were agreed upon. So, no, I did not know him.
- [23:08] * [Rut]Laure smiles pleasantly, but her eyes seem to add "and didn't care either".
- [23:10] <NomDeNarrateur> Asian woman: "Therein lies the problem. You have made quite a fuss indeed."
- [23:11] <[Rut]Laure> So it seems. Which is why I had wondered why we are talking, presently.
- [23:15] <NomDeNarrateur> Asian: "How many people, do you think, saw you blow up a royal heir? After physically assaulting him?"
- [23:22] <[Rut]Laure> No one -saw- me "blow up a royal heir", Miss 'U'. My apologies if there was any miscommunication.
- [23:23] <NomDeNarrateur> Woman: "Really? How could you be so sure? Are you confident that no one would notice a little waitress darting about? That no one would watch -you-?"
- [23:26] <[Rut]Laure> I was confident that they would not stop me, Miss. If the collateral damage is an issue, I humbly suggest that "avoiding casualties" be better reflected fiscally in future contracts. Especially when heavy ordinance is involved.
- [23:29] <NomDeNarrateur> AW: "You have compromised the mission. There is a manhunt out there. Your work is now considerably harder. And I don't think the client will be all too pleased."
- [23:32] <[Rut]Laure> Mm. Will you begrudge me if I... respectfully disagree on the former?
- [23:32] <NomDeNarrateur> WA: "I will. But that does not really matter for either of us."
- [23:33] <NomDeNarrateur> Deciding the conversation is probably over, she makes for thedoor
- [23:33] <[Rut]Laure> My sentiments exactly...
- [23:35] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo turns around just before she leaves, to leave a parting shot
- [23:36] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "Ah, I should also note that as of now, you are expendible. But a useful one. I leave you in interesting times."
- [23:45] * [Rut]Laure give minor acknowledgment before heading for the door. By now, the guests would be in a frenzied rush to exit. It could be useful as cover, or at least, a distraction for the guards.
- [23:47] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: a loudspeaker crackles to life, and you hear a booming message being played throughout the mansion
- [23:49] <NomDeNarrateur> "ALL GUESTS, PLEASE REMAIN CALM. THE MANSION IS CURRENTLY LOCKED DOWN IN EMERGENCY PROCEDURES. PLEASE REMAIN AS YOU ARE AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS OF THE STAFF."
- [23:50] <[Rut]Laure> ...Right on time.
- [23:50] <NomDeNarrateur> "ALL STAFF, BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR INDIVIDUALS OF THESE DESCRIPTIONS:"
- [23:51] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: and lo, there is a perfect description of you, and various variations of you, given over the speakers.
- [23:51] * [Rut]Laure almost forgot; she swiftly discards her bowtie and vest.
- [23:56] * [Rut]Laure lingers in the darkened doorway, waiting for any further descriptions. They shouldn't know about NgMui, but if they do, it might complicate matters slightly.
- [23:58] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: it's official: they're all on a hunt for you. You've been abandoned, betrayed, or simply scapegoated
- [00:01] * [Rut]Laure leaves, darting in the opposite direction she came from. Blending with the mob was too risky now, but a number of the guards would have to be dedicated to crowd control. Were they to sweep the building for her, it would mean they were spread out.
- [00:02] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: you have been given several escape routes for this mission. The main door is one. Getting into contact with others who shared your objective was another
- [00:27] * [Rut]Laure decides on an alternate route. The main door would be jammed with both guests and guards, but finding NgMui would only draw attention to her (and the package). She would look for a ground-level window or secondary exit, keeping hidden to avoid patrols.
- [00:40] <NomDeNarrateur> Laure: your recon shows that there are guards stationed around the perimetre of the mansion. Some windows are less guarded than others, but there are still obstacles
- [01:09] <NomDeNarrateur> [Let us return and have a look at what the rest of the motley crew have been doing in the meantime]
- [01:10] <NomDeNarrateur> [The building has suffered a structural integrity problem, and may even have caught fire. Maids are currently booking it.]
- [01:10] <[Atai]Millie> [meep meep!]
- [01:11] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: a loudspeaker crackles to life, and you hear a booming message being played throughout the mansion
- [01:11] <NomDeNarrateur> "ALL GUESTS, PLEASE REMAIN CALM. THE MANSION IS CURRENTLY LOCKED DOWN IN EMERGENCY PROCEDURES. PLEASE REMAIN AS YOU ARE AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS OF THE STAFF."
- [01:12] <NomDeNarrateur> "ALL STAFF, BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR INDIVIDUALS OF THESE DESCRIPTIONS:"
- [01:12] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: one of those sound rather familiar
- [01:13] * NgMui searches for any immediate exits in the hallway.
- [01:14] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: there is an upper story window. Where that leads is a mystery. Certainly not to a bush of poisonous ivy or anything.
- [01:15] * NgMui takes a closer look. Does the fucking thing open without the need to shatter it?
- [01:16] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: Since the mansion seems to be locked down, it is locked. As one might expect.
- [01:18] <NgMui> Tch.
- [01:19] * NgMui busts the window to shit.
- [01:19] <NomDeNarrateur> Window: you are busted to shit
- [01:19] * NgMui now takes a look.
- [01:19] * Window is busted, quite very possibly to shit
- [01:19] <NomDeNarrateur> Mishra: the Chinese woman has busted a window. To shit. It is very loud
- [01:20] <[Atai]Millie> Oh hey, an exit.
- [01:20] <[Crix]Ashra> I'm sure windows get broken all the time around here
- [01:20] <[Atai]Millie> Not that loudly.
- [01:20] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: it is a bit of a way down from here, but below you there is a bush of something. Will pad your fall, perhaps.
- [01:20] <[Atai]Millie> Or that breakily.
- [01:21] * NgMui climbs through and hops on down. Briefcase full of documents in tow, of course.
- [01:21] <[Atai]Millie> Also, not many have scary chinks climbing out of them
- [01:22] <[Atai]Millie> Oh, that reminds me.
- [01:22] * [Atai]Millie pauses, and glares at Ashra.
- [01:22] <[Atai]Millie> What was that about a sword?
- [01:22] <[Atai]Millie> and something else that I can't remember?
- [01:22] <[Crix]Ashra> I'll be able to summon it up later, It's no big deal.
- [01:22] <[Atai]Millie> You, uh.
- [01:22] * [Atai]Millie thinks how best to word this.
- [01:23] <[Crix]Ashra> I'm glad you reminded me though!
- [01:23] <[Atai]Millie> You aren't part of the normal staff, are you?
- [01:23] <[Atai]Millie> Or any staff.
- [01:23] <[Crix]Ashra> I guess you could put it that way.
- [01:23] <NomDeNarrateur> Suddenly, a crash! A Chinese woman has left the building!
- [01:23] * [Atai]Millie looks her up and down, critically.
- [01:23] <[Atai]Millie> Hmmm.
- [01:24] <[Atai]Millie> Well, whatever. If you're with the firm, you won't get killed, so... yeah.
- [01:24] <[Atai]Millie> And if you are, no skin off my nose.
- [01:24] * [Crix]Ashra has ditched her apron (too bloody), now wearing black pants, a plain purple shirt and throughly messed up purple hair
- [01:24] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: that wasn't one of your better landings. You didn't quite manage to miss the bush, and you didn't quite manage to make much use of it either
- [01:25] <NomDeNarrateur> You are one with the bush. That is, a tangled mess.
- [01:25] * [Crix]Ashra bends out the window "Hello, Ninja-lady? Are you ok?"
- [01:26] <[Atai]Millie> Hey.
- [01:26] * NgMui grunts loudly, mentally scolding herself for this fuck-up.
- [01:26] * [Atai]Millie taps Ashra on the shoulder.
- [01:26] <[Crix]Ashra> Hm oh yes?
- [01:26] <[Crix]Ashra> I was never good with falling, do you want to go first and catch me?
- [01:26] * [Atai]Millie shoves Ashra out the window.
- [01:26] <[Atai]Millie> Ladies first.
- [01:27] <NgMui> !?
- [01:27] * [Atai]Millie calls out:
- [01:27] <[Crix]Ashra> Hey I-ieeeeeeeeeeaaaaah
- [01:27] <[Atai]Millie> REMEMBER TO TUCK AND ROLL-- oh wait, that's for leaving a moving vehicle.
- [01:27] * [Atai]Millie shrugs.
- [01:34] * [Atai]Millie goes on down the hall, smashes open another window, and peers out. Any unoccupied bushes down there, maybe?
- [01:35] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: you fall! And fall! Luckily there is a bush and a maid to stop your fall...or was, because the entire bush has been wrenched out by its roots and is rolling away
- [01:35] * NgMui 's reflexes are much better than her general ability to concede to gravity. Seeing the quickly approaching mess of frill and apron, she springboards herself off of the wall and somersaults to the ground.
- [01:36] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: you manage to get out of the way of a falling maid, but you have taken a lot of bush with you.
- [01:37] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: there is nothing in the way of you and the ground. Well, this sucks.
- [01:37] <[Crix]Ashra> Eveennn the shubbery conspires against meeee!!
- [01:38] * NgMui grumbles, wishing she had taken out those other two before leaving. She finds a dark corner somewhere to rid herself of the excess vegetation and assess the situation.
- [01:39] <NomDeNarrateur> Ashra: you manage to follow Millie's advice, but it is a clumsy affair. You manage to roll forward as you hit the ground, but your roll is stopped short by what looks like a Chinese treant
- [01:39] * [Crix]Ashra tries to cough, but that's hard when the wind is knocked right out of you.
- [01:40] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: the fall is not very wholesome, but there is enough vegetation to cushion your fall if you take care. Alternatively, you can try to make use of the gutter pipe and protruding bricks to climb down
- [01:42] <[Atai]Millie> Oh hey, that works.
- [01:43] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: your thoughts are interrupted by a bump against your shins.
- [01:44] <NgMui> ...
- [01:44] * [Atai]Millie looks at the easier route down.
- [01:44] * [Atai]Millie ...Fuck easy modo.
- [01:44] * [Atai]Millie hops out.
- [01:44] <[Crix]Ashra> Hello, yes I'd like to place a collect call..?
- [01:45] * [Crix]Ashra falls asleep next to that odd moving bush
- [01:45] * NgMui withholds the urge to stomp the idiot into the ground and gets back to deforesting herself. Preferably somewhere out of sight.
- [01:45] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: you follow the Chinese woman's example and jump out the window as well. Surely, if some Asian waif can do it so can you, right?
- [01:45] * [Atai]Millie considers on the way down that this probably was a very stupid thing to do.
- [01:46] * [Atai]Millie sighs.
- [01:46] <[Atai]Millie> Shit.
- [01:46] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui, Ashra: there is a bang and a crash, and out of a nearby window comes your other colleague. It's raining maids!
- [01:47] <NgMui> Argh, ridiculous...
- [01:47] * [Atai]Millie lands, painfully.
- [01:48] <NomDeNarrateur> Millie: Not watching the sequal to Ng Mui's efforts was probably a mistake. The bushes seem to act as natural defence mechanism to those who wish to escape via windows. You follow the fate of those before you and get entangled.
- [01:48] * [Crix]Ashra rolls up into a sitting position arms splayed back for support, then noticing something moving in the bushes.
- [01:49] * [Atai]Millie could not remember how you're supposed to land after jumping so high, either, but it's for goddamn sure not "land flat on your back"
- [01:49] <[Atai]Millie> ...fuck.
- [01:49] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: you hear a loud whistle. Your escapades have roused -something-. Shouting voices are heard soon after. Torches flick to life
- [01:49] * [Atai]Millie looks up.
- [01:50] <[Atai]Millie> ... /fuck. /
- [01:50] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh, this is bad..
- [01:50] * [Atai]Millie hauls her ass out of the bushes in a very ungainly manner.
- [01:50] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: you are in the garden of the Minister. It is a rather large extravagance, full of fountains and hedges. The main walls that surround the area are tall and unfriendly, but there is rear gate way to the back
- [01:51] * [Crix]Ashra gets up and does her best to walk in a straight line towards the bushes in order to help Millie out
- [01:51] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: you have managed to remove most of the offensive vegetation. It shouldn't impede your movement, but it's in your hair and stuck to your clothes and to an independant observer you would look rather silly.
- [01:52] * NgMui makes for the rear gate. Going over the wall may be quicker, but it would be a good way to put a bullseye on her back for pursuers.
- [01:54] * [Atai]Millie rolls neatly out of the bush, and to the ground, landing in front of Ashra.
- [01:54] <NomDeNarrateur> Mishra: Millie manages to defeat the grasping shrubbery with Ashra's help, but it has left its marks. You look like you fell from the second story into thorny bushes. Which you did.
- [01:54] <[Atai]Millie> Fuck. Ow.
- [01:54] <NomDeNarrateur> Mishra: the Chinese woman does not wait. She makes a dash for the rear gate
- [01:55] <[Crix]Ashra> That was quite careless of me, falling out the window like that.
- [01:55] <[Atai]Millie> ...Good work on not dying. Valuable skill.
- [01:55] * [Atai]Millie looks over.
- [01:55] <[Crix]Ashra> She, can't possibly be taking that statement as anything but sarcasm
- [01:56] <[Atai]Millie> The gook's hauling ass. Probably not a bad idea.
- [01:56] * [Atai]Millie hauls likewise
- [01:56] <[Atai]Millie> Hustle.
- [01:56] <[Crix]Ashra> I'm almost a cripple wait up!
- [01:56] * [Crix]Ashra follows the other girls
- [02:00] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: you easily leave the other two stooges behind. The guards stationed outside are organising themselves to sweep the garden, but you are fast enough to weave through their net before it tightens.
- [02:00] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: you get to the gate safely. Funnily enough, there are no guards there. Instead...
- [02:00] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "Have you got the goods?"
- [02:02] * NgMui tenses, then realizes the voice is familiar. Nevertheless, she remains in form, in case Yoo is baiting her into a trap.
- [02:02] * [Atai]Millie isn't going as fast as she can because she's helping Stumbles The Hobbling Cook.
- [02:02] <NgMui> I got everything I could find in that room... In this briefcase.
- [02:02] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "Let me take a look."
- [02:02] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh Millie, you're my hero~
- [02:03] <NomDeNarrateur> Mishra: you two are making very slow progress
- [02:04] * NgMui slides the briefcase to Yoo's feet, keeping an eye out.
- [02:05] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: Yoo whips out a small flashlight, pops open the briefcase, and shuffles through the papers at an insane rate. She clearly knows what she is looking for.
- [02:05] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "Tch. This isn't it."
- [02:05] <NgMui> What?
- [02:05] * NgMui 's cautiousness gives way to rising anger.
- [02:06] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo slams the case shut in frustration
- [02:06] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "Who else got in and out of the conference room?"
- [02:06] * [Crix]Ashra points out to the two figures in the distance
- [02:07] * [Atai]Millie grumbles and gripes.
- [02:07] <NgMui> You don't mean... Those two maidservants?
- [02:07] <[Crix]Ashra> Hey look Millie, It's the ninj and uh...uh some other person!
- [02:07] <NomDeNarrateur> Mishra: meanwhile, the net tightens. Around you. This is going to end badly.
- [02:07] * NgMui swears in Chinese.
- [02:07] <[Crix]Ashra> [Ninja]
- [02:08] <[Atai]Millie> Next time, tell me that you're not rated for window-jumps. I'm almost certain you aren't up to code.
- [02:08] <[Atai]Millie> ...what?
- [02:08] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "That could have been it. Damn. He must have already passed it on."
- [02:08] <[Atai]Millie> A ninwhat?
- [02:09] <[Crix]Ashra> A ninja.
- [02:09] <NgMui> "He"? Who's "He"? What else are you not telling me, Yoo?
- [02:09] <[Atai]Millie> Is that some gook word?
- [02:10] * NgMui makes sure to invade Yoo's personal space enough to make good on her ribcage threat without taking a step
- [02:10] <[Crix]Ashra> It's a sort of assassin, specializing in Ninjitsu, or sneaking, or unarmed combat with a vague oriental flavor.
- [02:10] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "Weren't you told? You aren't the only one in there. Where are they now?"
- [02:11] * NgMui grunts angrily, and takes a step away, looking back the direction she came.
- [02:12] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo is playing with her fan, and clearly distressed by the prospect of losing the objective in all this chaos.
- [02:12] <NgMui> They were trying to follow me, but I got away during the sprint. I'll have to go back and get them.
- [02:13] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: You see two hobbling figures a bit back; probably the ones you left in the dust. You also see the flashes of torches and bunches of shouting men, who are methodically approaching your area.
- [02:13] <NgMui> There they are...
- [02:14] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "Do that. Regroup, and make for these coordinates by foot. There should be car waiting for you. Here are the keys. Make your escape from there."
- [02:14] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: Yoo shoves a piece of paper and a key into your hands.
- [02:15] <NgMui> What? But I can't- wait, were those two with the organization?
- [02:15] <[Crix]Ashra> Millie where is our chariot of hell steeds to take us away from this place? Or maybe a steam tank? A car?
- [02:15] <NomDeNarrateur> Yoo: "What organisation? And you should hurry."
- [02:17] <[Atai]Millie> Uhh.
- [02:17] * NgMui swears in Chinese again, then makes for the shadows and tries to find a safe place to view the area. How many groups of men are there? How heavily are they armed? How close are the others to the exit?
- [02:17] <[Atai]Millie> I was thinking about stealing somebody's car.
- [02:17] <[Atai]Millie> ... That shouting's getting kinda close.
- [02:18] <[Crix]Ashra> Maybe we would be better off hiding?
- [02:19] <NomDeNarrateur> Ng Mui: They are far enough from the exit that you will have no problem getting there and back, but at their pace they probably won't make it before being spotted. There are a lot of men--if they are the same standard as the mooks in the conference room they shouldn't be a match for you, but it will slow your progress significantly.
- [02:23] * NgMui makes another dash, this time back towards the bumbling maids. Those two could fight, so they could probably take care of them if it comes down to it.
- [02:24] <NomDeNarrateur> Mishra: The ninja returns!
- [02:24] <NgMui> You two. Do you have the documents?
- [02:24] <[Atai]Millie> Evening, scary lady.
- [02:24] <[Atai]Millie> Uh.
- [02:25] <[Crix]Ashra> Uh
- [02:25] <[Crix]Ashra> That wine list?
- [02:25] <[Atai]Millie> I've got something, but nowhere you're getting it if I'm dead.
- [02:25] <[Crix]Ashra> I remember it perfectly
- [02:25] <[Atai]Millie> Probably not the wine list.
- [02:25] <[Crix]Ashra> Let's see the fir- Oh alright.
- [02:25] <NgMui> Come with me if you want to live.
- [02:26] <[Crix]Ashra> This is a win-win situation
- [02:26] * NgMui is suddenly Filia
- [02:26] <[Atai]Millie> Yeah, that was the idea.
- [02:27] * [Atai]Millie goes with the creepy jap.
- [02:27] <NgMui> I was not informed of your involvement, but nevertheless.
- [02:28] <[Atai]Millie> Eh, shit happens.
- [02:28] * [Atai]Millie realizes something that was said earlier.
- [02:28] <[Atai]Millie> ...oh. Documents?
- [02:28] <[Atai]Millie> So, uh.
- [02:28] <[Atai]Millie> You with the firm?
- [02:29] <NgMui> ...
- [02:29] <[Atai]Millie> Not the yanks.
- [02:29] <NgMui> Enough talk. They're right on top of us. Quickly, now.
- [02:29] * NgMui leads the way
- [02:29] <[Atai]Millie> Hm? mm.
- [02:29] * [Atai]Millie nods.
- [02:29] * [Crix]Ashra sits on a nearby stump (there is always a nearby stump) and rests while Millie talks to the ninja.
- [02:30] * [Atai]Millie THERE IS NO RESTING NOR IS THERE A STUMP
- [02:30] <[Crix]Ashra> Oh we're moving already!
- [02:31] <[Atai]Millie> Sh.
- [02:33] <NomDeNarrateur> Everyone: you start moving again, but you are still only as fast as your slowest member
- [02:33] <[Atai]Millie> Hey, scary lady: Can you carry Stumbles? She's not the swiftest.
- [02:33] * NgMui sighs and grabs up Ashra.
- [02:34] <[Atai]Millie> Thanks, doll.
- [02:34] <[Crix]Ashra> I'm fragile!
- [02:34] <NgMui> Shut up.
- [02:36] <NomDeNarrateur> Even though Ng Mui has an Ashra slung over shoulder progress is significantly faster. You should be able to make it out easily.
- [02:37] <[Crix]Ashra> hmph!
- [02:39] <NomDeNarrateur> And so, our maids waltz of merrily into the night, and live happily ever after!
- [02:39] * NomDeNarrateur Fin
