Fem vs Ame
TLDR: Fem won
As the GDT goes on, the quality of debates rise ever upward.
Fem approached this debate with a straightforward strategy that utilized teamwork and their strengths. Fem set the terms of the engagement, and with Edward’s TP held initiative. I think on a meta level this speaks to the strength of a well-rounded team, Samus is ranged with esoterics. Edward as presented can grapple above his weight class, can read minds, and has very relevant offense against biological opponents where his strength may prove ineffective. Finally, Wonder Woman is all-around a great frontline with the best (and most consistent as argued) speed. Fem did not hold back how each of his teammates support one another, which can be very relevant in a team fight.
Ame’s strategy relied on what Fem described as “Gimmicks”. Geo Force’s gravity, Superboy using his TTK to defeat Samus. Nottingham is straightforward, though the magic absorption felt like a reach and more of the same. I personally felt like these win conditions overshadowed arguments that could’ve given Ame more of an edge here. That being said, it’s reasonable to say that these “Gimmicks” are pretty fucking strong. Gravity powers are nothing to mess around with, and neither is Superboy’s TTK.
However. Several of Ame’s points and claims lack feats and context, or are a stretch that Fem effectively countered. See the WW sword point, thinking her opponent is ares or the claim that Edward will only read two of his character’s minds when Fem has a feat for Ed reading a whole cafeteria. I’m all for characterization arguments where they matter, but this feels like grasping at straws at points. I specifically took issue with the King Shark scan where he supposedly “bites through mechanized armor” that’s clearly astronaut suits, made of cloth with helmets. If he’d had an accompanying scan that sold me on it being good armor, that would be fine but it in no way proves Superboy’s piercing durability which is relevant against WW and Edward.
Fem meanwhile had a strategy that controlled the debate and from my perspective, Ame failed to meaningfully counter. He tried, but as above many of the claims were flawed or lacked sufficient evidence. Moreover Edward’s ability to preempt anything resembling a strategy is devastating to things like Superboy’s TTK or Nottingham’s absorption. Geo is pertinent in this situation, but I find myself agreeing with Fem in that it’s not clear as to how he’ll act when Fem demonstrates exactly how his team will act. Ame’s “How the fight will go” would better have served him in his first or second response. Give his lack of travel speed he is, again, a sitting duck when there’s a bunch of bullet-timers running around. The whole separate arms thing for GF is not appropriate for a 3rd response, as new claims and arguments that can’t be effectively responded to generally aren’t.
