Ariel's family never had very high hopes for them. They grew up hearing how they would never be independant and carve out their own life, never do this or do that because of their disability. How could they, when they couldn't even speak? Ariel's peers as well found them too strange to relate to, leaving their only friend the family Espurr, Chloe. As they grew older, they naturally grew more and more restless. Eventually the dam burst, and Ariel was desperate to prove themselves to be more than just a burden. Knowing that they would never get permission to go on the Island Challenge, they and Chloe ran away one night, determined not to return home until they could come back a winner. They adopted a new name, both to carve out a new identity for themselves that felt more comfortable and to throw a potential search off the trail.
But despite befriending a few pokemon, they soon became lost and disoriented, the outside world proving itself larger and more threatening than they thought. Before all could be lost, they crossed paths with an ex-Team Skull member by the name of Stanford, who took pity on the kid and would help them to survive. When chaos struck Alola in the form of Ultra Beast attacks, Stan decided to cut his losses and hurried the both of them to Kanto, reasoning to a distressed Ariel that perhaps the gym challenge might be easier. Little did they know what trouble was brewing there...

His unique appearance and hard edge from an early life of poverty helped him to stand out from the soft core of the Kalosian elite, and he soon became known as an intense, magnetic personality that many desired to work with. He even attracted the attention of a powerful CEO within the region, and the rumors surrounding those two are already beginning to spread...
