  1. >"Just shut up and take it!"
  2. >Gilda shoved the box in your hand and started walking away
  3. "W-wait but..."
  4. >Gilda flips you off one last time before crossing the street
  5. >You're stunned by what just happened, regardless you decide to take a peek inside
  6. >It was a white cardboard box she had tied it up with rough twine
  7. >You pull back the cover slowly at first fearing some kind of gag
  8. >But instead you're pleasantly surprised to find a plain chocolate cake
  9. >You dip a finger in the frosting and lick it
  10. >breddy good mang
  11. >You shift the box in your hands to take a bite off the top to try it out
  12. >...
  13. >It was hard as stone
  14.
  15. The next day
  16.
  17. *Riiinnnggg Riiinnnggg*
  18. "Hnnngg...-lo?"
  19. >"What are you still doing in bed dweeb!?"
  20. "Hada, bada, wha?"
  21. >"Get your ass moving I'm not walking to school in the rain!"
  22. ...
  23. >"Dweeb?"
  24. >It suddenly hit you like a ton of bricks
  25. >You still owe Gilda for pulling that asshole off you in the hallway
  26. >"I can still hear you breathing. If you want to keep doing that then GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE!!!"
  27. >Click
  28. "Wa-wait! Gilda? Gilda! Hello!? Damn it!"
  29. >You hop out of bed and run downstairs
  30. >Two seconds later you run back to your room to get dressed
  31.
  32. ---
  33.
  34. >Soon after you pull up to her driveway to find her waiting in the open garage
  35. >She stares daggers at you as she gets in the car
  36. >What did you do wrong now?
  37. >"Well?"
  38. "Uuhh, well?"
  39. >Gilda became infuriated
  40. >"Well...did you like the cake or not!?"
  41. >Oh that
  42. "It was, okay, i guess."
  43. >"You guess? You guess what?"
  44. "I guess, it could've used more baking powder?"
  45. >"What?"
  46. "Eh, sorry Gilda. I couldn't eat it, it was hard as a rock."
  47. >Gilda leaned back in her chair
  48. >"Fuck! I'm going to fail Home Ec!"
  49. >You silently agreed
  50. >"What are you waiting for Dweeb take me to school!"
  51. "Oh, uh, right."
  52. >You shift to reverse and drive away
  53. >This was how you were supposed to repay her
  54. >As she stood over you two weeks ago she made her demands very clear
  55. >1. You were going to be her ride. Everywhere.
  56. >2. You were going to help her with her homework. All of it.
  57. >3. You had to be her test subject for Home Ec.
  58. >These 3 simple demands kept you from getting beaten up or harassed any more than usual
  59. >Gilda was a tough bitch and everyone at your school knew it
  60. >Even the jocks were afraid of her
  61. >She was school boxing champ after all
  62. >You sneak a peek at her through the corner of your eye and instantly look back at the road
  63. >You swore she was staring right at you
  64. >You squeeze the steering wheel a little tighter as you make a turn
  65. >"Jeez why did you have to be so lame?"
  66. "Huh?"
  67. >"Im asking how someone could turn out as lame as you."
  68. "W-well. I, uh, i'm not the biggest guy around."
  69. >"Oh, please don't give me that crap. I know a little guy in my boxing club who could take on guys twice his size. So what's your excuse?"
  70. ...
  71. "Um, i guess, i don't know...maybe i'm just not that type of guy."
  72. >"No shit, so why are you this kind of guy?"
  73. >You shrug
  74. "I don't know. I've always been pretty quiet. Even as a kid, i just sorta did what adults told me to do."
  75. >Gilda keeps glaring at you, you take it as a sign to continue
  76. "You know, i was actually pretty angry too. Way back when? But, somewhere along the way i guess i just realized that being angry never made me happier. Everyone always used to tease me, and i would explode on them then get in trouble when i made them cry. Like it was my fault."
  77. >Gilda leaned against the door and propped her head on her hand
  78. "I got tired of getting teased and then being punished for standing up for myself. So one day i just stopped. I stopped being angry and started letting them tease me. Maybe it wasn't the right thing to do because now im a total wuss, but..."
  79. >You trailed off as you remembered your sixth grade bully
  80. "But sometimes, it felt like i was helping them."
  81. >"How the hell are you helping those jerks by letting them punk you all the time?"
  82. "You remember those school meetings about bullies, and how they were just friends you haven't made yet?"
  83. >"Don't tell me you believed that crap."
  84. "Not all of it. But they did say something that made sense to me. The part of how some of them have troubled home lives, like maybe their dads are alcoholics, or they get their asses whooped, or maybe their parents are getting divorced? You know that kind of stuff? And that's why kids act like jerks, to try and understand their emotions and shit."
  85. >"Pfft, and you let them bully you cause of that? You really are a wuss."
  86. >Gilda stared out the window
  87. >"So what was wrong with that Michael faggot? Is his mommy fucking the mailman?"
  88. "No, i think he may actually be gay."
  89. >"What?"
  90. >Gilda was flabbergasted
  91. "Oh, yeah. I think he's actually gay. Remember when i was called to the principal's office two weeks ago?'
  92. >Gilda nodded
  93. "They called me in because they found a bunch of gay porn sites on my assigned computer in the lab."
  94. >"Dude, seriously?"
  95. "Yeah. And do you know who was assigned to sit next to me?"
  96. >Gilda shook her head
  97. "Really? I'm telling you this sto- It was Michael, Michael sits next to me. I got up to use the bathroom and i guess that's when he got on it. We sit near the back so i guess nobody caught him."
  98. >"Haha! He looked up gay porn on your computer! That's hilarious! HAhaha!"
  99. >Gilda continued laughing for awhile
  100. "Yeah, you're not the only one who thought it was funny. That's the whole reason the fight started. I guess he really didn't want anybody to find out it was him."
  101. >"So he jumped you. Haha man i was getting a little worried there for a second."
  102. "Why?"
  103. >Gilda tensed up and dodged the question
  104. >"What happened to that faggot anyway?"
  105. "I think he got transferred to a different community, i think performing arts but i don't know. I hardly ever see him anymore so that's good."
  106. >Gilda flicks at your eye and you flinch
  107. >Even though your black eye had started fading it was till a bit sensitive
  108. >"So that's why you're such a dweeb? Because you feel bad for everyone else?"
  109. "Sort of. Everyone just has a different reason."
  110. >Gilda stared out the gray window again
  111. "So...what's your reason?"
  112. >"What!?"
  113. >You felt as if you struck a nerve
  114. >Still...
  115. "Nothing, i'm just saying. W-why do you pick on me?"
  116. >"What the hell are you trying to say?"
  117. >Oh, crap
  118. "No, i just mean. Either people have a reason for what they do or they're just assholes."
  119. >What the fuck brain?
  120. >Gilda looked ready to blow up
  121. >But God must've been smiling at you that day because Gilda just settled back and crossed her arms
  122. >"You're just an easy target you little prick."
  123. >You held your breath
  124. >"Do you have any idea why none of the other girls like you? It's because you're a pussy, you're too afraid to stand up for yourself because you're too busy worrying about what everyone else thinks instead of just thinking about yourself."
  125. >You make another turn
  126. >"You know even the jocks feel bad after they knocked the shit out of you?"
  127. ...
  128. >"It's because you just sit there and take everything the throw at you. And with that goofy ass smile on your face, what the hell is that even about?"
  129. >The campus comes into view and your torture is just about over
  130. >"Do you like getting the crap beaten out of you? Are you too stupid to know what pain is? Or are you still trying to be friends with them? Because no matter what you still look like a bitch!"
  131. >You pulled into the parking lot
  132. >"Are you even listening to me ya bastard!?"
  133. "...Yes.”
  134. >"So? What do you have to say for yourself?"
  135. "...I just don't want to be another asshole."
  136. >Gilda stopped her rampaging and watched you pull into a parking spot
  137. >You had finally arrived, after this Gilda wouldn't be bothering you until the end of the school day
  138. >Unless you were fortunate enough to see each other in the hall
  139. >You turned off the car and reached in your backseat for your pack
  140. >Gilda was already halfway out the door before she stopped
  141. >"Hey anon..."
  142. "Hmm?"
  143. "I was thinking, maybe you should take Home Ec next semester."
  144. "But, it's not in my community."
  145. >"Listen Dumbass! I'm going to fail that class so when i come back I want somebody there to put the blame on! Got it!?"
  146. >A few people stared at you two as they walked by
  147. "Uhm, okay?"
  148. >"That's more like it."
  149. "Oh, Gilda?"
  150. >"What?"
  151. "Maybe instead of just taking the blame for everything, I could actually help you cook?"
  152. >Gilda looked shock but recovered quickly
  153. "Just get out of the car already Anon!"
  154. >Gilda slammed the door and walked away
  155. >You follow her orders and exit the car
  156. >A cold wind swept drizzle against your face and you hurried along
  157. >You catch up to Gilda and even manage to open the door for her
  158. >"I could've opened it myself, you dweeb."
  159. >You give one last sigh of contempt and walk in after her
  160. >You couldn't help but notice she had a great ass
