Dear Mayor Rosamila & Council President Wiltshire,

I am sure you concur that each and every member of the Ethics Board should be held to the highest standards and in no way be involved in partisan politics. Nor should any member of the Ethics Board be appointed to their position as a result of political activities. Recently, a member of the Troy Ethics Board, Jennifer Carmichael, submitted a FOIL request for my voting record while I was a member of the Troy City Council. I served on the council from 1994 to 1999. It would appear that this request was part of a political operation to look into my votes while I was a member of the city council. While I have no objection of people looking at my voting record, I don't think a member of the Ethics Board should be involved in an obvious political agenda regarding this matter.

I am, therefore, calling upon you to determine if Ms. Carmichael was in any way appointed because of her political involvement, or in fact as a member of the Ethics Board, acted in a political manner. One must question whether Ms. Carmichael made this request on her own volition or did it as a favor to a political leader.

The Troy Ethics Board and its members must be beyond reproach, and we must all have confidence that politics doesn't play any role in their decision making.

I would appreciate your investigating this matter, and providing me with a response in a timely manner.
