  1. What are the SmokeMonster EverDrive Packs?
  2. The EverDrive Packs are complete sets of roms that are ready to copy directly to an SD card for use in flash carts. EverDrives and many other flash carts are supported. Extract a pack to an SD card using 7zip and you'll have an organized setup that's ready to use. Log-in here at EPForums to see the download link below.
  3.
  4. The Importance of Good Roms
  5. The sets are composed of quality roms released by expert groups like No-Intro. High-quality roms are essential to experience games exactly as if they were the original cartridge, bit-for-bit. Bad roms have been circulating at shady direct download sites since the '90s. Avoid those, and treat yourself to bit-perfect roms instead.
  6.
  7. Why so many folders?
  8. The original EverDrive OS limited folders to a maximum of 255 files each. This means that games must be divided into multiple folders. Newer EverDrives have limits of 512 or 1024 files, but having more files in a folder slows the OS and makes navigation tedious. Most other FAT32 based flash carts have the same limitations.
  9.
  10. Organization & Sorting
  11. ALWAYS enable file “Sorting” in the EverDrive menu. Some flash carts automatically sort files alphabetically. Some can't, but it's easily done manually with a program like FAT Sorter. Sort your SD card every time you add files to it. What are the “Selections” folders in Hack, Homebrew, and Translations? I place interesting, new, and exemplary releases there to bring extra attention to them. Why are revisions in the main folders? The latest version of roms always appear in the official folders, since many original releases had bug-fixes issued by their developers. Older rom revisions are available in the Revisions folder.
  12.
  13. Numbering (root folder)
  14. Level 1) Licensed US games, or games released in multiple NTSC regions which include US (World, US/JP, US/EU, etc).
  15. Level 2) Licensed games from other regions, and Unlicensed.
  16. Level 3) Other consoles that an EverDrive supports. For example, you can play Master System roms with Mega EverDrive & ED-GG, Famicom Disk System with N8, etc.
  17. Level 4) Everything else, except for Tools and Service carts.
  18. Level 5) Tools and Service Test Carts, and hardware related files.
  19.
  20. Formatting & Updating
  21. Do not simply copy a new or updated pack onto your SD card without formatting. If you skip formatting, you lose alphabetical ordering and risk OS fragmentation, which is a common cause of errors. To Update: First, copy your existing saves to your computer. Then format the SD card to FAT32 using 32KB allocation unit size (cluster size) if available. Finally, copy the new pack to the empty card, along with your old saves. To use a 64GB or larger SD card, follow RetroRGB’s instructions.
  22.
  23.
  24. Requests:
  25. Requests for individual roms are denied unless the roms are provided to me. Send in any roms that you want added. I will add roms that are sent to me pre-patched, but please do not send me IPS files to patch for you. Thank you to everyone who is actively submitting new and improved hacks and translations!
  26.
  27. Error Report Form:
  28. Use this form to report errors or missing official roms. Do not post reports in the forum thread. Only post missing reports for hacks/translations if you can provide the rom. 99% of missing rom reports are false alarms so please search before reporting.
  29.
  30. Notes
  31. No content is included if it is still actively sold by its creator. Period. This project is in not affiliated with Krikzz, nor any other developers. Do not post these packs at other sites.
