- Description: The pair, high on cocaine, went to Ella’s door and asked to borrow $20. When Ella said she didn’t have any money, McNair asked for a glass of water. When she turned to fetch a glass, McNair grabbed her by the neck and stabbed her in the throat. When the blade broke off in her neck, Grimsley grabbed another knife from Ella’s kitchen and gave it to McNair, who stabbed Ella in the neck again, severing her carotid artery and jugular vein, before choking her as she bled to death on her kitchen floor. He then stole her purse and fled the scene with Grimsley.
