Documents Set #1:

Interview Appointment Confirmation – You will get these once you schedule Appointment in CGI Federal.
DS-160 Confirmation – You will get these once you filled the form Online Form. You have to fill seaparate form for Each Parent.
If you are Filling the DS-160 form, Mention the same in Last Page of DS-160 that You have filed the Form. You need to enter your passport Number while signing online in last page. Dont Hide any thing
UPDATE: Looks like passport number of form filler is not being accepted now. So try entering one of the parent passport number.

Documents Set #3: [ ONLY COPIES]

Employment Verification Letter: Raise a TT (quick link) with CTI as Human Resource / Job and Personal Information / Employment Verification (Non Immigrant). TT will get Auto Resolve. Reopen the Same TT and add correspondence requesting for the letter
You can login to www.theworknumber.com in order to get an online employment data report as well
I-797 Notice of Action, Form I-129S Blanket L Petition with Stamping from Consulate. You will have these documents from Fragomen during your immigration process.
If you are work visa is through Non Blanket Petition or H1B etc, Documents might differ
Documents Set #4:

Recent I-94 Printout of Mine
Recent I-94 Prinout of Spouse ( Only Needed if Sponsoring In Laws )
Copy of All Pages of my Passport ( Including L1 Visa Page with Entry Stamp )
Copy of All Pages of Spouse Passport ( Only Needed if Sponsoring In Laws )
Copy of Marriage Certifcate ( Only Needed if Sponsoring In Laws )
Documents Set #5:

Bank Verification Letter: Walk-in to Chase/FirstTechCredit and request Bank Verification Letter. They have standard letter format and should provide you with in minutes.
Have atleast $15K amount as Balance in Bank Account
Recent 3 Months Pay Slips. You can get it from ADP
Last 6 Months Bank Statement. You can get it from Online Banking. I downloaded monthly wise statement
Last 3 Years W2 Tax Returns ( Its ok If its Not there )
Morgan Stanley Shares Information. Login to Stock Plan Connect and From Overview Page you can See Download Button. You can get the pdf for the shares vesting/vested
Documents from Parents

Original Passports
Sending Documents to Parents:

I created above 5 Sets of documents separately, didn’t staple, and instead used removable staples.
I wrote numbers on every set of documents using pencil so that I can explain to my parents about the documents over phone.
Transport To/From Bangalote to Chennai Visa Office ( Flight Tickets/Hotel Reservation to Chennai Office/Chennai Hotel Stay ) – I booked this once I scheduled the appointment and sent the documents along with above documents
Go to Mailroom in your building, they will provide you DHL Envelope, put the documents in envelope. Pay 17$ fees (cards are accepted), Fill the Address Form and Submit.
Documents Reached within 5 days.
At Visa Office:

Time on Appointment letter is not strict. Parents can go at any time on that day. My parents were delayed by 4 Hrs. due to delay in Flights. They allowed.
On Biometrics Day/First Day, Only Original Passports and Documents Set #1 is needed. So asked parents to secure that in separate file.
On Interview Day, Questions asked in Telugu and Parents answered in Telugu
VO: Good Morning

PA: Good Morning Sir

VO: Please provide your passports

PA: Gave Passports Only

VO: Why are you going to US?

PA: To meet my son and visit Tourism places

VO: for how much duration?

PA: 2 Months Sir

VO: Where do your Son Work?

PA: Amazon Sir

VO: Did he send any documents?

PA: Yes Sir, Please have a look. Parents gave Documents Set #2 to Set #5

VO: Silent for 2 min and was doing something on his computer

VO: Your Visa is approved

Important: ALWAYS MENTION AS "TO MEET SON/DAUGHTER AND TOURISIM PURPOSE ONLY"

Collecting Passports:

Check the Status of the Passports http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/in-niv-passporttrack.asp
Once it shows "Ready for Pickup", you can visit the pickup location ( In My case it was Prestige Attrium in Bangalore) which was selected during scheduling the appointment.
If Parents are visiting, Original and One Copy of Govt Issued ID card (Voter ID, Aaadhar Card) needs to be carried along with Appointment Confirmation Letter

Customs Form on Arrival to SEA:

It might be challenging for parents to fill the US customs and Border Protection Plan Form, a blue form given to Visitors by Airlines. It will be good if you can fill the sample form and send it to them prior to journey so that they can carry a copy while travelling

Download the PDF and Fill it. Send it Parents to take a Printout. You can Give training about this over phone.
Parents can Copy paste the same details to Original Form given in Airlines. ONE FORM IS ENOUGH for both Father and Mother.

I used the email shared by Praveen as the base. Mine was a little different case as I relocated Nov/16 and was applying for in-laws VISA in Jan (without having bank statement and Tax filings). My in-laws VISA got approved.

VO: GM
IL: GM

VO: Why are you going?
IL: To meet daughter

VO: DO you work (my father -in-law)
IL: NO retired

VO: Whats your last salary?
IL: Answered

VO: Do you have another son/daughter?
IL: Yes, he works in XYZ MNC in Mumbai

VO: Whose sponsoring your VISA?
IL: Son-in-law

VO: Your VISA is approved

He did not check any papers and whole intention was to look into the DS-160 and the other things are aligned along with what he was asking and the risk of they not getting back to India

Thanks for the information it helps, but unfortunately my mother's visa got rejected (Section 214B).
Not sure of the exact reason but looks like its due to recent change in administration only

The reason for 214B denial is the officer is not convinced of the applicant's strong ties to home country, officer presumes the applicant can stay back in US abandoning residence back in India. You need to disprove this and show strong ties back in India.

It shows an error if i put my passport number instead of the person for whom the form is being filled.

Ideally, We, as in Son/daughter fills the DS-160 Application on behalf of parents/in-laws in the last page of DS-160, hence you have to give details of person who filled the Application (I did this and it worked fine)
However, looks like things are changed now. If there is no option to provide your passport details , may be just enter one of the parents/in-laws details

Whose passport number (my passport number or their passport number)should I enter while submitting application on my in-law's behalf?
There is no reference to add 3rd party passport number while signing in travel.state.gov FAQ-

Person who is paying ALL EXPENSES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THEIR VISA EXPENSES, AIRLINE TICKETS TO/FROM USA, USA DOMESTIC TRAVEL, LODGING, BOARDING, FOOD, INCIDENTAL EXPENSES AND VISITOR MEDICAL INSURANCE is called as Sponsorer.
If you are doing this, you will be sponsoring your in-laws

Hi all, I opened a tt requesting employment verification letter. It was closed giving instructions to get it from worknumber.com. But the steps there tell to download 'employment data report', its a 13 page pdf. Is it the correct doc? Please help.TIA.

That was an Auto Closure of the TT. Reopen the Same TT and add correspondence requesting the letter and you will get the Letter. Also mentioned above

My parents visa got rejected (214B) for the first time for specifying duration of stay as 6 months. Next time i reapplied making duration of stay as 6 weeks (also, with more supporting document) and visa got approved. Thanks Praveen for documenting well.
