TSW 35: The Last Messenger.

[16:18]	IcePickLobotomy	RobinE: The Outrider bay is unnaturally quiet, the normal hustle of the support crews is gone, leaving only the subdued hum and groan of the automated machinery. The personal lay sleeping on the floor and on the gantries, a few dangling by their harnesses who had been working on the units themselves.
[16:20]	RobinE	paces back an fourth running her fingers through her hair nervously.
[16:21]	RobinE	"please don't show up,"  she mumbles, "She better not."
[16:22]	RobinE	pauses for a moment and looks back at the unit, she gets a curious expression on her face.
[16:22]	IcePickLobotomy	The unit gives no sign or attempt at a response. It's not as though it's ignoring you, its as though there is nothing there to even acknowledge you in the first place. A empty vessel.
[16:23]	RobinE	reaches out to touch the unit.
[16:23]	IcePickLobotomy	The super-material metal is cool to the touch, but you can feel the heat radiating out from the gaps in the armor.
[16:24]	RobinE	"hello?"
[16:25]	RobinE	looks around feeling a bit stupid, before remembering everyone else is asleep.
[16:25]	IcePickLobotomy	Your voice carries in the cavernous space before fading into the darkness.
[16:31]	RobinE	"I guess its good you are so calm," she shakes her head, "I'm scared."
[16:32]	IcePickLobotomy	You feel the Unit, empty and. . . not dead but neither alive. It's something in between, a machine of metal and flesh but nothing more than that, never more than a machine. You can feel yourself reflecting from within it as you press closer to it, and that sensation lessens as you draw back.
[16:36]	RobinE	"hm," the strange feeling makes her shiver.
[16:36]	IcePickLobotomy	There is something else. A heartbeat, distant and steady and slow. From below, beneath you feet, deep under the earth.
[16:37]	RobinE	"huh?" she picks up one foot and looks to the floor.
[16:38]	RobinE	"Do you feel that? or, is that you?" she looks back up to the unit.
[16:40]	IcePickLobotomy	The beats seem to pulse upward, where they touch the unit's core they seem to warp and bend around it, like a current of water around a walk. You can feel the beat reverberating off yourself. Your own heart beating in sync with it.
[16:40]	IcePickLobotomy	*rock
[16:42]	RobinE	just stands and feels the beating, then she reaches out to the unit with her other hand.
[16:44]	RobinE	"wow," she states awestruck, "but... but where," she ponders as she looks back to the floor, "where is the beat from?"
[16:46]	IcePickLobotomy	You know where.
[16:46]	IcePickLobotomy	You know who.
[16:46]	IcePickLobotomy	Mother.
[16:48]	RobinE	her hands quickly retract from the unit.
[16:49]	RobinE	"what?" she sounds insulted and a bit scared.
[16:51]	RobinE	"is she messing with you too?"
[16:52]	IcePickLobotomy	The silent unit doesn't responded.
[16:54]	RobinE	reaches back out with one hand, "keep resisting," she cheers the unit on quietly.
[16:57]	IcePickLobotomy	Green.
[16:57]	IcePickLobotomy	The empty core is now tinted like green, stained glass. You can feel the heart-beat shy away now, no longer touching the core but curving away like a magnet's push.
[16:59]	RobinE	shakes a bit as she feels the fight, "you do hear me," she chuckles nervously.
[16:59]	IcePickLobotomy	No response. For what need is there for a tool to speak?
[17:01]	RobinE	"ok then," she tries to feign confidence as best she can, "we will fight them together."
[17:03]	IcePickLobotomy	Emerald, a emerald corona around your unit baths the space in a eerie green light. Bolts of emerald lightening peel and arc across your unit silently.
[17:04]	IcePickLobotomy	And then it fades, not gone. Simply subdued.
[17:06]	RobinE	stares at the space where the spectacle happened, stunned. She shakes it off, a small smile forms at the ends of her mouth.
[17:07]	IcePickLobotomy	And as you step away. . . you still hear a heartbeat. But it is yours, and yours alone."
[17:08]	RobinE	"I guess I should get ready," she rubs the back of her neck, some upsetting thoughts still in her head, "Be ready for me." She takes her leave of the room to go think on what just happened.

[18:27]	IcePickLobotomy	...empty run of low buildings and a deep trench before a tall grey-blue wall covered in small bumps and blisters emerges out from the ground. You can see a 2nd taller wall behind it, and past that the sight of the three Towers curved and bent inward, creating a cone-like covering about a third of the way up their height. A bright green corona of energy can be seen under it, arcs of emerald...
[18:27]	IcePickLobotomy	...lightening snapping and hissing like angered snakes. The play of static makes picking out details at that central area hard and the sight sets you on edge.
[18:31]	Arina	shivers. "... we're going to take fire as we close in. Sound off, who's going to have trouble with that trench up ahead?"
[18:32]	Arina	"MAGI, what's the timeframe look like before the Angel fully corrodes down to layer thirteen?"
[18:32]	JohnH	"No trouble here..." John trails off then mumbles something
[18:33]	IcePickLobotomy	[It has penetrated Layer 12, but does not seem to be attempting to access the Guidestone. Instead it appears to be seeking the access shafts in order to go deeper.]
[18:33]	Arina	"... Beyond thirteen?"

[18:33]	RobinE	"I'm gonna have to take my time with that trench."
[18:34]	Mary	"So the Prisoner is here...."Mary says, and then starts to sprint towards its.
[18:37]	Arina	"... Okay. I'll move in and draw fire until everyone reaches the wall, then we push past to the second."
[18:38]	Arina	unlimbers her spear and hits the trigger, dashing at the wall with a little assistance from the plume of rocket fuel coming off the spearhead in a straight-up charge.
[18:40]	IcePickLobotomy	As Robin moves forward a blister forms along the wall, one of the larger ones.
[18:43]	Arina	plunges into the large blister, shattering it and bringing her spear back out. "Let's go!"
[18:45]	Mary	Jump to get over the trench
[18:47]	IcePickLobotomy	The remaining large blister blasts out a large bolt of emerald lightening, while the smaller one fires off a smaller blast, both directed at Arina.
[18:48]	Arina	stabs her spear directly into the large bolt, dispersing it and letting the second hit her armour.
[18:54]	JohnH	"Here goes nothing." There is no emotion in John's voice
[18:56]	JohnH	misteps and falls into the trench
[18:56]	JohnH	"God damn it. Stupid flashbang."
[18:57]	IcePickLobotomy	And thats when one of the larger blisters fires a bolt in John's prone unit
[18:57]	Arina	"John!"
[19:00]	Mary	is deadly silent as she starts, to run, only to let out a angry stream as she stumbles her start and then lands on the prone john.
[19:00]	Arina	grits her teeth and stabs at the blister that hit John. "Damn it-!"
[19:00]	IcePickLobotomy	It fires off another bolt at Mary, but manages to only carve a glassy furrow near her and John as the shot goes wide.
[19:03]	IcePickLobotomy	RobinE: you notice that the green light from the center of the Intruder has been growing stronger, the amount of lightening increasing, now bolts are going off at a rate of at least a dozen per second as the energy is crackling around the towers.
[19:05]	RobinE	"That storm looks stronger," Robin says glancing around.
[19:06]	Arina	is driven off by a burst of energy fired by the blisters, hissing. "Get up!"
[19:07]	Arina	"It's getting bad in there..."
[19:07]	IcePickLobotomy	Another bolt lashes out, this time at Robin
[19:08]	RobinE	holds her arms out in front of her as she blocks the bolt with her AT.
[19:09]	RobinE	"Alright," she groans, "my turn."
[19:12]	RobinE	takes off running at the large turret, she takes a swing with her claw arm only to whiff completely.
[19:13]	IcePickLobotomy	The glow of green at the center grows brighter, almost blinding as you see the green lightening semingly crawl up the tower and begin to concentrate at the tip, a rapidly growing mass of green arcs glowing like the mid-day sun through a emerald tinted sheet of glass.
[19:14]	Arina	"... I think it's going to shoot that at us so everyone brace!"
[19:16]	Mary	lifts herself off, and uses john as a stepping stone to get up, and then tries to climb the wall, even if it instead does look more like the Koolaid Woman, and it falls.
[19:18]	IcePickLobotomy	[ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHmvJC29O3w ] The entire set of towers pulses with a sickly green light as a single massive arc of energy lashes out from the tip at Mary, and then continues for the Trench, aiming for John as it carves a molten trench on the way.
[19:18]	Arina	watches, eyes wide. "No-!"
[19:19]	IcePickLobotomy	The storm around the towers drains away, leaving a much more subdued glow at the center.
[19:19]	Arina	"... everyone's okay?"
[19:20]	RobinE	"for the moment."
[19:21]	JohnH	gets up and trundles out of the trench
[19:22]	JohnH	"We need to get this over with."
[19:22]	IcePickLobotomy	It spits out a bolt at John from one of the smaller blisters that remain but it goes wide.
[19:22]	Arina	nods. "... Okay, we're all at the wall, push through!"
[19:28]	Arina	looks up towards the towers, shivering.
[19:28]	Arina	drops her spear-butt to the ground and uses it to pole-vault over the wall, landing in a crouch on the other side. "Keep up as best you can, I'll draw its attention!"
[19:29]	IcePickLobotomy	Arina: as you come over the wall you realize this may have been a bad idea. There's over half a dozen floating egg shapes, made of the same material as the wall. They turn to orient at you, green energy flickering between the 4 smaller ones as their bottoms slide open to reveal what looks like the chamber of a gun, and begins to glow green
[19:30]	IcePickLobotomy	And then they fire in unison
[19:31]	Arina	swirls her spear between her and the gunshots, batting two aside on the way down, landing with a grin.
[19:35]	Arina	"Revision, if you can get across /now/, do it, we have an opportunity."
[19:35]	Arina	"But they're going to recharge so if you can't make this window, blow the wall down and move in slow and steady!"
[19:36]	IcePickLobotomy	Arina: from your vantage point you can see a few bolts of green lightening around where the core is, and the slowly growing glow
[19:36]	RobinE	makes her way over the wall slowly, "on my way."
[19:37]	Arina	"We're getting another blast building up."
[19:38]	RobinE	[retract last Robin action]
[19:40]	Mary	"OUT OF MY WAY!" She screams at the wall as AT energy manifests around her and she screams in anger at the wall the energy following suit and cutting deep hole into it nearly evanglion sized.
[19:41]	IcePickLobotomy	You can see it slowly creeping around the cracks and hole to repair itself, but not on a speed that's relevant to the battle
[19:41]	IcePickLobotomy	It fires a bolt from the large blister on the inner wall, which Arina bats away with her spear.
[19:45]	RobinE	"Thank you Mary," Robin calls out as she lifts up her claw arm. She begins to rip and tear at the wall until a sizable hole is made.
[19:49]	IcePickLobotomy	One of the larger spawnlings fires at Robin through the gap, damaging her unit's leg
[19:50]	RobinE	"Argh," Robin staggers a bit when her leg is shot.
[19:51]	Arina	"Good job, same plan, if you can bypass the wall do it, if you can't, move in destroying everything one by one!"
[19:51]	JohnH	levels his rifle and fires it through the new hole, at one of the little guns
[19:56]	IcePickLobotomy	It explodes in a burst of green fire and shell-like fragments
[19:59]	RobinE	"RrraAGH!" Robin Rushes a large turret and takes a large swipe at it, claws digging in.
[20:00]	IcePickLobotomy	It's slamed into the ground but floats back up, the shell cracked and leaking a green-ish black oil. It fires a shot back at Robin but goes wide.
[20:02]	JohnH	carefully aims and pewpews another gun-egg
[20:02]	IcePickLobotomy	The heavy gun on the far wall fires, the shot glancing off Arina's shoulder to no effect
[20:10]	IcePickLobotomy	The green glow and energy begins to creep up the towers and to the pinnacle. It'
[20:10]	IcePickLobotomy	It's readying to fire.
[20:11]	Arina	takes a breath, and charges, completely bypassing the egg-shaped Angelspawn and pole-vaulting off her spear, ascending high into the air, and then, at the apex of her arc, bringing the spearhead down and hitting the trigger, plunging down with the full force of both gravity and rocket motors to land atop the wall, spearhead digging in underneath her.
[20:11]	Mary	roars as she runs foreard and then just starts to hammer her weapon down on the thing in a great fury even with her AT field depleted
[20:14]	IcePickLobotomy	Arina: you can feel the energy from here. It's not like anything you've felt or scene. There's a almost physical haze of green that crackles with bolts of lightening between the base of the three towers. The core floats serenely in the center of the storm. It pulses once as it lets off another blase from the top of the spire.
[20:15]	Arina	whistles as it shoots over her shoulder. "... I'm very glad that's hard to aim."
[20:17]	IcePickLobotomy	The blast misses Arina and John but slams into the head of Mary's unit
[20:18]	Arina	"Mary, status?"
[20:20]	Mary	" nothing that stops me " she says despite the fact that part of her skin appear to blister.
[20:20]	Arina	"Okay, good!"
[20:25]	RobinE	drags her claw arm behind her as she rushes the nest turret in her sight, using the momentum to strike.
[20:26]	IcePickLobotomy	The other large spawn turns and fires on Arina
[20:27]	Arina	spots it on cameras and swings the spear behind her to disperse the blast.
[20:29]	Mary	Running foreward the rocket sword sparking over the ground as she gets up to speed, before she jumps and burries the sword in the turret.
[20:30]	IcePickLobotomy	The spawn dies as it splinters into a dozen pieces. Meanwhile the one next to Robin fires, who in turn barely shifts out of the way
[20:35]	JohnH	sees the opening and opens up on full auto on the remaining turrets
[20:36]	IcePickLobotomy	They die, busting into flame and spewing car sized fragments along the city-scape
[20:39]	JohnH	throws an arm up and lets the oncoming damage splash over an invisible barrier that was created instinctually
[20:41]	Arina	blasts forward, off the wall and rocketing in directly at the core.

You see the city and the core, you see a massive chamber of grey metal overgrown with vines. And then the city again. And. . . and

[20:45]	Arina	"Aaaaaaaaah!"
[20:45]	IcePickLobotomy	It hurts. It tears away at you like sandpaper, etching away at you and your unit on a level deeper than just physical. Muromets' note turn sour in agony as you can feel the Intruder's AT Field eating away at yours like acid eating away stone.
[20:48]	Arina	howls and fortunately, was already moving forward so manages to catch herself before she slams into the core, instead slaming into it spear-first.
[20:48]	IcePickLobotomy	A green field collasces into place between the tip of your spear and the core itself. You can see the energies within the the field slowly tearing away at the armor of your unit.
[20:48]	Arina	"S-stay out of the sector if you can fight at range at all! It's /not/ good in here!"
[20:49]	IcePickLobotomy	!dr 60
[20:50]	Arina	grits her teeth as she impacts, and hits the spear's trigger, driving it through the fracturing AT field and nicking the core for a moment before it's flung away.
[20:52]	Arina	"This th-thing is... I thought there was something else here but this thing is powerful!"
[20:52]	Arina	"The pressure's t-too high, stay back and shoot if you can, just don't hit the towers-!"
[21:00]	RobinE	runs for the wall, readying an attack. Due to stumbles and poor luck, she ends up face-planting into the wall.
[21:04]	Mary	"ARGH!" She screams at the wall that dares to block her, and strikes down with the blade, the rockets in it bosting the hit and driving the blade deep in before the return strike makes a skretching sound as the wall fights against the rocket and is loosing as she starts to rip it appart
[21:08]	IcePickLobotomy	The core flickers thrice and 3 massive detonations carve through the ground at the feet of John, Mary, and Arina, the former and latter narrowly dodging
[21:09]	Arina	plants her spear and pole-vaults away from the blast, eyes wide. "... god the damage is going to be horrible..."
[21:09]	IcePickLobotomy	As the explosions fade you can see they're in the shape of a cross, and linger for several moments.
[21:13]	Arina	shoves her spear in again, and a rocket pulse pushes it in enough to nick the core once more.
[21:18]	IcePickLobotomy	It seems to ignore the blow as the corona of energy drains into the beam, slicing at Arina, Mary and John.
[21:19]	JohnH	advances forward to join the rest of his squad
[21:24]	Mary	The evas leg starts to burn, and the other pilots can see how her face distorts for a moment as she is hurt, and then moves on. " Its only pain."
[21:25]	IcePickLobotomy	Mary: [Warning, Oversync Warning. Oversync Warning.] Danger orange text blares in your HUD with the cool psuedo-femail voice of the computer reading off the words as your SR climbs into the mid 90's.
[21:25]	RobinE	climbs the wall and falls to the other side
[21:25]	IcePickLobotomy	RobinE: you grit your teeth as the field tears at yours, but you maintain integrity.
[21:27]	IcePickLobotomy	From the core a bolt of energy curls around it that then leaps out at Arina
[21:28]	Arina	flicks up her AT field, red light pulsing and deflecting it away as steam starts coming out from between the Evangelion's joints.
[21:31]	Arina	drives through the blast and nicks the core one more time, pulling off as the AT field forces her away.
[21:34]	JohnH	continues to move forward, gaining precious ground
[21:38]	Mary	"There is no danger, I got to save her, GO DOWN!" she screams at the wall as she burried her two handed sword in it again to the hilt
[21:39]	IcePickLobotomy	The wall wavers, bit of it falling to the ground to crush the surrounding buildings, but it remains standing.
[21:40]	IcePickLobotomy	Arina: you start to feel the familar tug of gravity pulling you off your feet
[21:41]	Arina	jumps out of the strike zone, preparing to charge in again.
[21:41]	IcePickLobotomy	Debris swirl and collasce into a ball which begins to glow red from the pressure but you remain standing as you are. A moment later it drops onto the ground.
[21:44]	RobinE	steps forward to the internal platform and begins to fight the core's field.
[21:54]	JohnH	Just as John reaches his goal, he is forced to deflect more of the alien blasts with his magical forcefield
[21:54]	IcePickLobotomy	4 massive cross shaped blast slam across the battlefield, buffeting each pilot with heat and rubble.
[21:56]	Arina	weaves aside, growling. "Damn you..."
[21:59]	JohnH	aims his gun at the wall and shoots a convenient, eva shaped hole for the reinforcements to use
[21:59]	IcePickLobotomy	And the wall comes down. A moment later a multi-layered series of green panes, interlocking like armor snap into place.
[22:07]	IcePickLobotomy	[ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9aS9bH8f9Q&t=31s ] It fires again, and JohnH and Arina can only watch in horror as the beam vaporizes Unit-01/B's head, and shears through Unit-05's torso, bisecting it. Both units immediately go status Black, but you thankfully see Mary's and RobinE's plugs eject off to safety at least.
[22:07]	Arina	"Robin! Mary!"
[22:07]	Arina	"MAGI, can you recover them?!"
[22:07]	JohnH	watches silently
[22:08]	IcePickLobotomy	[No, we lack the ability to recover plugs without support personal. Destruction of the Intruder is needed for recovery to take place.]
[22:09]	IcePickLobotomy	{GM Note: Mary did not eject but her vitals are reading as stable }
[22:10]	Arina	"... Well all right then. John?"
[22:16]	JohnH	aims and fires a cluster of controlled shots directly at the core
[22:17]	IcePickLobotomy	The splash off the emerald forcefields to no effect
[22:19]	IcePickLobotomy	Two more cross shaped blast detonate meters from your units
[22:20]	Arina	barely makes it out of the detonation field, gasping, and bursts out of the clouds of smoke, pulsing a red glow that slams into the emerald panels, forcing them just a little dimmer. "Come... /on/! Die!"
[22:21]	JohnH	dances around the beam while reloading his rifle
[22:22]	JohnH	"I'm not done with you!" john squeezes off another cluster of bullets
[22:23]	IcePickLobotomy	More layers of the pains break and shatter under your assualt.
[22:25]	Arina	winces as her Evangelion's armour steams, and the joints open up wider as the body within swells. "Think you can do it now Ilya?"
[22:27]	IcePickLobotomy	Arina: A firm and solid beat, that of a military march pulses from the core of your unit
[22:27]	Arina	taps her heel against the bottom of the plug in tune with it, and lunges into another thrust into the panels. "Now BREAK!"
[22:28]	IcePickLobotomy	Two more layers shatter under the assault, leaving only one thing set between you and the core.
[22:38]	Arina	hits the trigger and accelerates the rocket-propelled spear through that one last panel, as John's autofire splashes around them. "I... /said/... BREAK!"
[22:40]	IcePickLobotomy	The last of the panes shatter before a brilliant green bolt lashes out at you and John from above.
[22:41]	Arina	uses the pressure of the spear against the AT field to fling herself away, eyes wide.
[22:48]	JohnH	fires even more bullets
[22:49]	IcePickLobotomy	The core gains several pits as chunks of it's crystalline form are blow off.
[22:49]	Arina	levels her speartip at the core as she angles back towards it. "MAGI, requesting telemetry assist."
[22:50]	IcePickLobotomy	[Uploading. Projecting optimal path for single strike destruction. ]
[22:51]	Arina	"Got it, thank you!"
[22:51]	Arina	hits the trigger and lunges in behind the spear in a burning red flash of fire and AT field. "Leave us /alone/!"
[22:53]	IcePickLobotomy	The core flashes white as you punch through it, a conflagration of green flames engulfs your unit.
[22:54]	JohnH	runs forward into the fire to ensure the safety of his special lady friend
[22:55]	Arina	holds it off with her field - barely - and touches down on the other side. "... I /hope/ that was mission complete. MAGI, how is everything looking?"
[22:55]	IcePickLobotomy	[Readings pending. . . ]
[22:56]	IcePickLobotomy	You see the green storm around you fade. The towers above croak ominously but remain standing as the Intruder's modifications remain in place. The red dome over the city drops away, revealing the starkness of a cloudless moonless night. You can see over a dozen lights of aircraft circling the city.
[22:57]	IcePickLobotomy	"-peat this is the USS Enterprise to Breakstone, please come in. Please come in, we have just recived authorization to use nuclear weapons. For the love of god come in!"
[22:57]	IcePickLobotomy	A man's voice, desperate and hoarse comes in over the radio.
[22:57]	Arina	"... Please don't. Situation is clear."
[22:57]	Arina	rubs her eyes.
[22:58]	IcePickLobotomy	"Roger that Breakstone. Standing down, we will await a full report at your discretion."
