Server and In-Game Rules

Violations of these rules can lead to a ban on your ability to host servers or ban you from the master server, preventing you from playing Zandronum, at the discretion of the administrators with or without warnings. You only have yourself to blame. We take rule violations very seriously and judge on a case-by-case basis. Do not tempt fate by trying to dance around the rules.

Playing on a server

Respect other players. If harassed, contact the administrator of that server.
No cheating is allowed, unless it is a sv_cheats server which allows the use of cheat codes built into the game (iddqd, idkfa, "give all", etc).
Any malicious activity towards a server or server hoster is prohibited, not tolerated, not advisable in the least, and can warrant a ban from the master server if such activity is proven.
Any persons caught maliciously impersonating official Zandronum staff can lead to a master ban. Don't do it!
Don't use an offensive names (racially, ethically, etc), or the name of another player. (Don't even come close!)
Don't use a clan tag unless you're in the clan.

Hosting a server

Servers may not condone impersonation, harassment, hacks, or exploits. (sv_cheats are OK.)
Do not broadcast offensive messages or warez (in the server name, MOTD, WAD names, or elsewhere).
Respond to complaints and feedback. If people report abusers on your servers, it's your responsibility that they get dealt with. If you need help patrolling your servers, just ask!
If you want to run more than 10 servers, just go to #ststaff and ask for a server limit exception for your IP.
If you're disrespectful to people in your server(s), Don't expect any good feedback or respect back. We will not help you if we have proof that you were being moronic in your servers while people try to peacefully play. If you're going to act like an idiot, make the server private.

Reporting abuse

There are certain things that will get you masterbanned right away, as listed here:

Cheating of any kind - aim bot, wall hack, etc. (This does not include using console/type-in cheats if sv_cheats are enabled - however, hacks are STILL prohibited!)
Exploiting bugs of any kind (other than vanilla Doom bugs such as speedrunning and wallrunning if enabled by compatflags)
Distributing cheats - this includes hack programs themselves.
Impersonating of ANY KIND of other users - it does not matter who they are - they be members or staff or people outside the Zandronum community.
Pretending you are in a clan that you're not in. This includes wearing the tag on your name.
Discrimination, including racism, sexism, any form of harassment towards another Zandronum player.
Creating a server with the intent of discrimination/racism/sexism/harassment towards any other player.
Pirating / copyright violations (incl. but not limited to distributing IWADs)
Constant vote spamming to kick others for no reason.
Any kind of activity found serious enough to warrant a master ban...


Please note that the above list can be for violations that occur anywhere - on the forum, in IRC, or on a server - if you do these in any of these locations, you can be banned from all of Zandronum. The "What happens in IRC stays on IRC" cliche does NOT apply.

What do we need?

We need proof that it happened. Screenshots, logs, demos, whatever. Screenshots most importantly. Demos even better.
We need to know what server it happened on, and who the admin is, so we can contact them for logs. This is very important! If it's, for example, a Canadian Bacon server, please say so - there's a number of Canadian Bacon admins who can get this information! It helps to even include the server # so we can get the log directly.
You must contact one of us in #ststaff. Making a topic on the forum is just troll bait, and will most likely earn you a warning, and almost definitely get the topic locked. Currently, the people who have Master server access are in the #ststaff channel - you may contact any ST staff member and they will forward the message to one someone who can help you.


If at all possible, please take your report to #ststaff on IRC. If this is not possible, then send a PM to a Zandronum admin. Making a topic just attracts trolls, so we do not want you to do that.
