- “Copy.” Fisher unzipped a pouch on his rig and removed two breaching charges, compact tubes containing C-4 plastic explosive and a wireless detonator. Gearing up back on the Paladin, Fisher had considered leaving the charges behind on this operation. Now he was thankful that he had brought a little extra overkill.
- Acting quickly, he surveyed the antenna and picked out the weak points on the supports, where the charges would do the most damage.
- “Stand by,” he said, “and get ready to go loud.”

- “Panther, do it now!”
- Fisher heard Grim’s call and double-tapped the trigger pad on his OPSAT. “Fire in the hole!”
- The breaching charges detonated together in a quick ripple of noise, and the supporting spars holding up the antenna came apart in twists of broken metal. The spindly mast lurched under its own weight, then teetered backwards across the office tower’s canted roof.
- Fisher dropped behind a machine unit as the thing came down and broke apart, the anti-collision lights along its length going dark. Thick cables tore free from their mountings and whip-cracked through the air, arcing over his head. The antenna broke its back across the roof, shredded wiring spitting blue sparks, pieces of it tumbling over the edge and down to the street below.
