  1. 01[22:54] <SpaceThor> A few hours later, the mercenary hobbles to wherever it is you're holed up. "Hey, you said to come by, so here I am." She's already ditched one of the crutches.
  2. 06[22:56] * Karin_Yildiz looks over to her. "Iris isn't going to be happy about that crutch." She smiles where she's sitting at a small bench, working on a pistol.
  3. 01[22:56] <SpaceThor> "Can't do anything if both my hands are on these. Only need this one anyway."
  4. 01[22:57] <SpaceThor> She hobbles over to the bench, sitting down.
  5. 06[22:58] * Karin_Yildiz nods, sliding the mostly finished pistol over to her. That's a Clockwork Seeker.
  6. 01[22:58] <SpaceThor> "Nice piece of work." She takes it into her hand.
  7. [23:01] <Karin_Yildiz> "I like to think so. Don't tell Clockwork Creations that I've got blueprints for thier top of the line toy~" She gives a grin. The grip isn't perfect but then, it doesn't quite look finished yet.
  8. 01[23:02] <SpaceThor> "So working on the handle then?"
  9. 06[23:03] * Karin_Yildiz nods. "I wanted you here to get a good look at your grip technique, so I can tailor it. After all, if I'm making a custom job I might as well do it properly."
  10. 01[23:04] <SpaceThor> She nods, shifting the gun in her dominant hand, finding a good grip.
  11. 01[23:05] <SpaceThor> She rolls it around for a while, before nodding. "There. The weight's different in this one than in my Colliers."
  12. 06[23:08] * Karin_Yildiz nods "Colliers have a lot of weight in the barrel. Makes them solid but also makes the balance different to the Clockwork, where it's more even."
  13. 01[23:08] <SpaceThor> She nods. "Well, that's the position then."
  14. 01[23:09] <SpaceThor> "Offhand's gonna be different, old wound on my left elbow. Still healed, but some of my fingers curl funny."
  15. [23:09] <Karin_Yildiz> "You should get Iris to look into that. It sounds like nerve damage."
  16. 06[23:10] * Karin_Yildiz is taking notes.
  17. 01[23:11] <SpaceThor> "I picked it up when I was a little girl, I'm not worried about it at this point."
  18. 01[23:12] <SpaceThor> "I did notice you worrying about this though." She waves the manacled left wrist around.
  19. 06[23:12] * Karin_Yildiz shrugs. "It's...an interesting choice. I've never met anyone who decided to keep it."
  20. 01[23:14] <SpaceThor> "Well, it makes sense if you know why I got it."
  21. [23:14] <Karin_Yildiz> "Oh?" She raises an eyebrow.
  22. 01[23:16] <SpaceThor> "Used to be Guild. Good little soldier girl. True believer and all that. Then my Sergeant bungled a mission. His boss was his buddy, so they had to find someone to court martial instead. Guess who got the short straw."
  23. 06[23:17] * Karin_Yildiz nods. "I can guess...I'm sorry to hear that."
  24. 01[23:17] <SpaceThor> "I knew the guard shift changes on a chain gang, though, so when they were doing that, I left. Busted most of my manacles off, but left this one to remember the son of a bitch's name."
  25. 01[23:19] <SpaceThor> "Then a few years ago I told him mine, one last time."
  26. 01[23:22] <SpaceThor> "That answer your question?"
  27. [23:24] <Karin_Yildiz> "It does, yeah." She sighs. "I'm sorry. The guild...they do terrible things."
  28. 01[23:25] <SpaceThor> She shrugs. "I liked everyone I worked with, except the dead one. People do terrible things when they're responsible for who lives and who dies."
  29. 01[23:25] <SpaceThor> "So I just decided to only be responsible for my own life."
  30. 06[23:26] * Karin_Yildiz nods. "I'm...well...I know about being responcible for who lives and who dies."
  31. 01[23:26] <SpaceThor> "Oh? How terrible'd you get?"
  32. [23:29] <Karin_Yildiz> "...a few hundred people died. Then they made me Steamfitter."
  33. 01[23:29] <SpaceThor> "Huh. Hell of a thing. So, you kill em directly?"
  34. 06[23:29] * Karin_Yildiz shakes her head. "Guild firing line."
  35. 01[23:30] <SpaceThor> She looks confused. "If you're a Guild agent you don't have to tell me."
  36. [23:31] <Karin_Yildiz> "I was responcible for the safety of a group of refugees. The guild decided they wouldn't be allowed to settle where they arrived or even rest long enough to keep moving and gunned them down despite my best efforts."
  37. 01[23:32] <SpaceThor> "Oh. And here you had me thinking you were stone cold!"
  38. [23:33] <Karin_Yildiz> "Sorry to disapoint. I'm a failure, not a mass killer." She pauses. "...well, not at once. I've been in enough fights that I likely count that way."
  39. 01[23:33] <SpaceThor> "That was that Ridley business, yeah? Everyone was talking about it til they found something new to fret over."
  40. 01[23:33] <SpaceThor> "Way I heard it, one group attacked Hollow Point while the other infiltrated Ridley."
  41. 01[23:33] <SpaceThor> "You tell em to do that?"
  42. 06[23:36] * Karin_Yildiz shakes her head. "The people at Ridley were refugees. Some of them got desperate and tried to smash thier way in. I didn't manage to talk them out of it and then...well...the news happened"
  43. 01[23:36] <SpaceThor> She shrugs. "They were adults, right?"
  44. [23:38] <Karin_Yildiz> "Most were. Some, not so much." She sighs.
  45. 01[23:39] <SpaceThor> "Apparently I'm a fuckin elderly wisdom dispenser today, so listen up before it's gone. Every adult's gotta look out for their own life. If you do and you make a dumb decision that ends it, you got nobody to blame. If you put it in someone else's hands, you can't be surprised when one day they might just squeeze. And unless you were the one doing the squeezing, you got nothing to do with it."
  46. 01[23:40] <SpaceThor> "You can't force someone to not be an idiot. If you could, they'd have done it long ago and we'd live in a much nicer place."
  47. 06[23:41] * Karin_Yildiz looks at her and chuckles. "How old are you, elder?"
  48. 01[23:42] <SpaceThor> "Bout...few off of 40?"
  49. 06[23:43] * Karin_Yildiz blinks. "...I hadn't guessed that."
  50. 01[23:43] <SpaceThor> "Must be all the youthful work I do."
  51. [23:43] <Karin_Yildiz> "Oh yes. Hard work makes for hard looks. I guess mercenary work is easier than I though." She smiles.
  52. 01[23:44] <SpaceThor> "Depends on how you mean easier. Guild sergeant's got a paunch and a pack of wrinkles at 30. All the crap he has to watch over. Out here, I got exactly one person to watch over."
  53. [23:46] <Karin_Yildiz> "Up until Iris grabs you and forces herself at you. That girl is...she's by best friend but she's scary." Says the girl with half her skullplate made of metal.
  54. 01[23:47] <SpaceThor> "Oh, I think I'll manage. Done it so far. And the day I can't, I don't have to worry about after that."
  55. [23:48] <Karin_Yildiz> "Up until Iris learns to cure death." She rolls her eyes. "That girl worries me less than Rezzers, sometimes."
  56. 01[23:48] <SpaceThor> She stands, grabbing the crutch. "Anyway, last little bit. Ain't nothing wrong with wanting to be the bigwig in charge of people. Just remember to keep your head on and be realistic about what's going on. Idiots attack Guild and Union installations when you tell them it's dumb, not on you. Let me know when they do it because you told them to."
  57. 01[23:49] <SpaceThor> "Later." She hobbles off.
  58. [23:49] <Karin_Yildiz> "Later." She gets back to work.
