- Rates?
- How about acceptable rate settings? I would actually help populate server and would actually play on them if my rates weren't limited.

- We do have acceptable rate settings, your asking for unacceptable rate settings. Tell ya what, donate enough to pay for a top teir level server and i will gladly set rates to a higher amount then. We pay for EoR's lower teir of servers at .99 a slot, if your willing to pay the extra buck a slot every month, i will gladly set rates to a higher amount that those better servers can handle.

- This wasn't suppose to be a topic It was suppose to go into another thread, guess that is what happens when I'm tired. You also don't need a high tier server for higher rates. Truly as long as the server holds 66 frames per second you have enough. Anything higher is just really a gimmick to charge more. Valve also now limited FPS on servers (My server went from 909FPS to 416FPS). Also, my rates are not really a outrageous request. 22000 is to low. Watch the packets you get per second when server is full, it drops down to 15 if its 32 player. That is less than 1/4 of what it should be running at. And if you think it isn't the rate setting, go to a different 32 player server, set your rates correctly, and check your packets per second. Then set rate to 2200 (like both the servers are) and watch them drop and everything start lagging.
- Edit: Also why not set the 24 player server to something like 60,000? Have one set higher (60,000 should be almost lag free) and just see which one runs better? Even Valve servers have their rates allowing 100,000.

- I really don't understand the point you're trying to make. The rates don't change when there are more people in the server and 25000 is the limit PER CLIENT. Whether we have 4 people or 32 in the server, each person is getting up to 25000 streamed to their client. Setting the sv_maxrate higher would therefore cause MORE lag, given the limited hardware of our server provider. You've explained this to me before but really your logic doesn't seem to line up on this topic, I can't imagine how allowing more bandwidth to be streamed per client can in any way reduce lag. That's counter intuitive. More bandwidth = more usage = more data on the same connection. If the plan is to reduce lag, the opposite should be true.

- If you want proof, hop into a full valve server with netgraph open. Enter these commands:
- rate "100000"
- cl_updaterate "66"
- cl_cmdrate "66"
- Then watch your netgraph when you get into a battle. Watch the center 2 numbers on the right. Now, when you die, or get a chance, type rate 22000 into console. Set them to the same that the TL server is. You will see the center two numbers on the right dropping rather low, depending on how many you see and are surrounded (payload server would work best for this.) Notice how they didn't drop that low when your rate was set to 100,000. Do this same thing in a 32 player server, but once you enter the commands type rate into console (with no numbers after it), to make sure the server isn't forcing rates. Many 32 player server FORCE 100,000 so people are less laggy. 25,000 isn't the cap, I was just on a valve server with it capped at over 1,000,000. Hardware limitations would simply be a bad hosting company, even gameservers.com (known for relatively bad servers) could handle that.

- It is not a hardware restriction, its a restriction based on how much were paying for the server... If you want better rates, its a buck a slot... get you and some others to donate...
- Our main server is a 66 tick 250 fps 32 slot sever. Our rates are set to provide stable gameplay for the greatest number of people all the time.

- Mattman is claiming that the hardware is the reason it isn't higher. As stated, only 66FPS is required, 1 frame per packet. Is the server host honestly limiting the rate? I spoke to a rep about it and they said you can run custom configs, including network settings, if that is part of the deal, does it include the 24 slot server? If not, set that one to AT LEAST 60,000 for better game play. I joined it, checked my rate, and then left when I saw it was limited.
- I think that everybody should changing their rates and then setting them to TL server setting so you can see what I am talking about.
