  1. >be sleeping in bed
  2. >sudden noise in the middle night
  3. >shocks me awake
  4. >realize it's my phone, no need for alarm
  5. >look at my phone, it's 5 AM
  6. >phone shows got a text message
  7. >it was from my boss
  8. >read text message
  9. >he'll be absent this week due to unforeseen circumstances
  10. >without him, our entire department was pretty much down since he controls work flow
  11. >nobody can work, nobody should show up, nobody gets paid
  12. >muh shekels
  13. >rub the crust from my eyes and go back to sleep
  14. >no income is gay, sleeping in is pretty good though
  15. >7 AM alarm starts ringing
  16. >should have turned it off earlier
  17. >felt like only 20 minutes had passed
  18. >flip the phone over to silence it and try to get back to sleep
  19. >end up staring at wall for a long ass time
  20. >could see the slats of sunlight from the blinds crawl up the wall
  21. >I yearned for more rest but my brain is already up
  22. >get out of bed, stretch, and pop every joint before dragging my feet around the house
  23. >cook some pork chops for breakfast
  24. >hear someone knocking on the door
  25. >not expecting any packages or visitor today
  26. >sit down and eat breakfast, hear more knocks
  27. >you fuckers aren't cutting into my week off, wait your turn
  28. >the police would have announced their presence by now, must be Mormons or solicitors
  29. >finish breakfast
  30. >more knocking
  31. >wait a fucking minute, I'm not even dressed
  32. >decide to take a shower instead
  33. >get all cleaned up and dressed up
  34. >time to see how bad they need to talk to me
  35. >walk up to door, look through peep hole
  36. >nobody is there, not even a car in the driveway
  37. >hear some foot steps outside coming from the back yard
  38. >bolt to my bedroom and grab a pistol
  39. >who the fuck burglarizes this early in the morning?
  40. >hide in the shadows of the house, the unseen shooter is the deadliest
  41. >observe the windows at the rear of the house
  42. >the blinds are down, but the shadow of someone trying to peek inside is obvious
  43. >the shadow moves from window to window, circling the entire house
  44. >can't see me
  45. >after an tense hour of hide and seek, the shadow finally fucks off
  46. >dial 911 on the phone to report suspicious activity, get nothing but a dial tone
  47. >fucking hell
  48. >wonder when the scout will return with a crowbar, trash bag, and a friend
  49. >try browsing the web to see if there was an alternative way to contact the local police department
  50. >cellular data is super slow, browser times out
  51. >try using home internet on my laptop
  52. >same results, high latency and sub dial-up speeds
  53. >what the hell is going on with TT&T
  54. >guess I'll be taking matters into my own hands when they show up
  55. >and play the waiting game for the rest of the day
  56. >not sure how to pass time without a sound, my hearing will likely be the first sense to detect unwelcome company
  57. >decide to run drills through the house for the rest of the day
  58. >no one ever returns
  59. >they better have they found another house to rob
  60. >plenty of better targets in the area, the kind of people who store junk in the garage and their new car in the driveway
  61. >still keep quiet and have pistol in arms reach in case of return
  62. >sleep light through the night
  63. >nothing happens
  64. >return to DEFCON 5
  65.
  66. >wake up next morning
  67. >groggy as shit from what almost qualifies as sleep
  68. >check around the house, find everything in place
  69. >check front door again, this time, opening it up and looking outside
  70. >no packages, no notes, no newspaper or anything
  71. >close up and return to a normal morning
  72. >in the middle of breakfast, phone starts vibrating like mad
  73. >bombarded with a burst of email and texts
  74. >I'm on surprise vacation, I owe you niggers nothing
  75. >internet and phone must be back up
  76. >decide to check it out once I'm ready for the day
  77. >look at weather on laptop as if I was leaving the house for work
  78. >notice interesting news article in the corner
  79. >read it
  80. >society shocked at the sudden mass appearance of monsters
  81. >everything about it was confusing
  82. >they swarmed out of a portal in the middle of the city
  83. >there were many varieties, and they were all female
  84. >and among them, consent is a myth
  85. >there were reports of men getting fucked out in their yards
  86. >and reports of men even getting fucked in their sleep
  87. >there was no doubt that monsters loved big hard throbbing cocks
  88. >we were only a small city, the incident alone sank the unmarried male population like a rock
  89. >I was now statistical improbability
  90. >all because I decided not to go outside
  91. >no wonder why my boss contacted me yesterday, he was for sure caught in the middle of it
  92. >at least they weren't hostile invaders
  93. >the portal showed no signs of closing and more monsters were on the prowl
  94. >yeah, I'm going to wait this one out
  95. >the question now was how I would save myself for "The one" in this shitstorm
  96. >start doing more research
  97. >the monsters have been open and upfront about their own biology, perplexing everyone
  98. >every hour, a few new medical journals show up
  99. >while each race have their own mannerisms, common traits are obvious
  100. >an innate ability to sense marital status, as they leave their mark on their mates
  101. >or property if you asked one of them
  102. >I don't particularly look forwards to being some monster's property
  103. >especially the hellhounds, who have quite a wild reputation for being unstoppable
  104. >it also gives me an idea
  105. >if I want to get by with monsters on the hunt, I need to be stereotyped, I need to be classified as "property"
  106. >fire up e2p, time to surf the dark web
  107. >post a W2B ad in the marketplace
  108. >want to buy 250ml of hellhound drippings with night delivery to a dead drop in the local park for 0.25 eShekels
  109. >should be more than enough
  110. >please let there be another e2p user with access to a hellhound could deliver
  111. >they would have to be in this city as well due to the portal's location and timing
  112. >take a break from the computer to "walk" around the house
  113. >the name's Bong
  114. >James Bong
  115. >practice sneaking around the house again, dipping into shadows, brandishing a finger pistol
  116. >the living room turns into the park where the dead drop will be
  117. >and I become the embodiment of speed, stealth, and momentum
  118. >chairs become trees, couch becomes a bush, and the windows become lights
  119. >with one quick motion, I lift a black hard case from behind the edge of the table
  120. >roll into daylight
  121. >fuck, messed it up
  122. >practice a few more times so I stay in the shadows
  123. >satisfied, I cut the act, and go back to my computer
  124. >got one reply
  125. >an explicit picture of him collecting and bottling from a hellhound, he asks for the location
  126. >send him the latitude and longitude of the park, and circle a spot in the park's playground gravel
  127. >get a confirmation response, and send him the eShekels
  128. >feeling a little livid for the transaction, for I risk going outside alone
  129. >have some dinner and watch the sky darken from the glowing orange as the sun sets
  130. >suit up in some black operating clothing to match the dark of night
  131. >slick my hair back
  132. >and put on some sports shades
  133. >out in the night, I've become transparent
  134. >faithful to my theoretical significant other, loyal to no monster
  135. >take the hard case and head into the garage
  136. >get in my super advanced stealth car
  137. >it uses an electric motor to move silent and quick in the city
  138. >its slick and futuristic body cuts though wind without a sound
  139. >and a gas motor for the highway, gets good gas mileage
  140. >brodozer drivers flip me the bird and roll coal on it, they're jealous of my stealth and efficiency
  141. >leave my house and head over to the park
  142.
  143. >park behind the library about a block away and continue on foot
  144. >stay out of fluorescent light from the library's sign
  145. >look back and see a monster
  146. >I freeze harder than a coffin nail
  147. >sliver hair, pointy ears, dark skin, can confirm a dark elf
  148. >she hadn't noticed me at all, tucked away in a sleeping bag under the entrance's overhang
  149. >only other thing was a hiking backpack
  150. >too late for her since all the men in the city are now taken
  151. >she must have made some stupid fucking mistakes that left her homeless
  152. >how is somebody homeless, just get a house
  153. >bet that she won't bother me since she is out cold
  154. >continue down the street with the hard case
  155. >each flickering street lamp is now a security laser, guarding a precious museum piece
  156. >dance though the laser show like a suave thief, and make it to the other side of the street
  157. >finally in the park
  158. >even the moon was now starting to be more of laser light as well
  159. >take cover in the trees, peeking out before moving to the next
  160. >see no monsters in the area, other than the dark elf across the street
  161. >sneak over to the playground, exposing myself
  162. >proceed to place the hard case in the gravel to act as the dead drop
  163. >tuck and roll to get out of the moonlight and find distant cover
  164. >now I know what it's like to be a vampire out in the sun
  165. >take a deep breath and try to calm down
  166. >before too long, hear a droning noise in the distance
  167. >it sounds like a wetback lawn crew
  168. >some asshole niggerbastard on his dirt bike enters the park
  169. >his bike had no concern for stealth
  170. >it sounded like an overpowered weed eater, and billowed blue smoke everywhere
  171. >that dark elf has got to be awake right now
  172. >he rides right up to the dead drop and places the promised goods inside
  173. >he revs the piss out of it, doing a wheelie as he exits
  174. >I guess his delivery flavor was expedience rather than stealth
  175. >should have made it clear that stealth was not optional for this mission
  176. >wait, frozen in fear, observing the dark elf
  177. >allegedly, they're more preceptive, and I can't blow my cover now
  178. >those ears might even catch satellite radio
  179. >after a moment of looking in the direction of the biker, she lied back down
  180. >wait for her to fall back to sleep, better safe than sorry
  181. >after about half an hour, I slide through the moonlight and take the hard case
  182. >and slide right back into cover
  183. >repeat the laser dance through the street, and make it back to the library
  184. >head back to my stealth cruiser, and creep around the parking lot and into the street
  185. >check my mirror again and again for anyone in pursuit
  186. >arrive home untouched
  187. >mission accomplished
  188. >take the goods inside
  189. >get some rest for the next day
  190. >find it a little hard to calm down
  191. >borderline insomniac if you asked me
  192. >not sure what to do
  193. >most people would have a smoke or take another pill
  194. >not me though
  195. >get up out of bed and wander to the liquor cabinet
  196. >two shots of vodka
  197. >enough to sedate without a hangover
  198. >get on the couch and read a book with a dim red light
  199. >fuck, reading a car repair manual sure is boring
  200.
  201. >wake up on the couch
  202. >ponder how I'm going to spend the rest of the week as I set my morning routine to automatic
  203. >not sure what any of my friends are doing
  204. >they've fallen prey to the monsters, I know it
  205. >chained to a bed with a monster on them bouncing up and down up and down up and down
  206. >they're might not want to go to the range, play woodsball, or at the very least, play computer games right now
  207. >decided to spend time reading more about these monsters
  208. >details about their mission and motives are now available to read
  209. >some time ago, there was a regime change that changed them from murderers to perverts
  210. >it was like reading about another world like ours
  211. >a bunch of different regions with different cultures and populations
  212. >so painting with a broad brush for the sake of convenience was harder to do
  213. >still, they all reached a consensus about coming here
  214. >as for this city, not sure why us
  215. >decided to read up on elves and dark elves, like the homeless one I saw yesterday
  216. >it was quite interesting, as there are "normal" ones and monstrous ones
  217. >I guess I try to see where the homeless one fit in and test out the hellhound essence
  218. >rub a little all over my neck and face, its rather slippery
  219. >doesn't have much of an odor
  220. >leave the house, except walk rather than drive
  221. >no monster bats an eye at me, it must be working pretty well
  222. >make it to the library after a long walk, dark elf is still at the entrance
  223. >she's reading a book and cooking something on an oil burner
  224. >her tattered leather clothes almost matched her sleeping bag
  225. >her equipment doesn't look like it's from this world
  226. >she notices me staring at her
  227. <"What do you want?"
  228. >she doesn't sound too happy
  229. "You sound upset. Why is that?"
  230. >she looks up from her book
  231. <"I don't want to talk about it. If you're here to gloat, fuck off,"
  232. >she projects a potent forlorn aura
  233. >being in her presence makes me feel sad
  234. "Hey, I'm not here to gloat. I'll listen to you,"
  235. >it seemed to help, but she didn't seem 100% convinced
  236. "Apologies, I'm Anon."
  237. >she places a string in her book to mark the page and closes it
  238. <"Asta"
  239. >I sat down against a concrete window divider that made up the wall
  240. "So, Asta. Why are you upset?"
  241. <"Can't you see? Look at me, I failed,"
  242. >she spread her arms out presenting her situation
  243. <"This was my second chance, and failure me blew it."
  244. >this was getting quite interesting
  245. >I can only imagine what stupid fucking mistakes she may have made
  246. "Second chance?"
  247. >Asta sighed and hung her head in shame
  248. <"It's a long story. Why do you even care?"
  249. >from the way she speaks, it sounds like she sense the hellhound on me
  250. "Why do I care? I'm a curious person,"
  251. >she looks back up with indifference
  252. "Second chance huh. What happened the first time?"
  253. <"I was doing just fine JUST FINE in the elf society, adopted and raised there my whole life. Just fine as a dark elf among their kind."
  254. >bringing up the subject agitated Asta
  255. <"And then this fucking cunt Druella came over and corrupted part of my village,"
  256. >the name sounded familiar from my research, royalty or something
  257. <"Even though I was not affected, THEY said I WAS, and THEY BANISHED ME!"
  258. >Asta was breathing quite hard and her fists balled up
  259. >I was starting to feel a little uncomfortable
  260. <"My 'Family' and my 'Friends' stuck me in the back with knives! Disowned me on the spot, right on the fucking spot. All those years I spent growing up there meant NOTHING to them."
  261. >that was too much for my heart to hear, I had to interject
  262. "They betrayed you like that? No questions asked? I'm sorry, but what the fuck."
  263. <"They left me out to ROT in the wilderness. I'll never fucking forgive them."
  264. >she let out a heavy sight, like an enormous weight had lifted off her chest
  265. "Asta, a lot of people in this world would say you should forgive them. Don't. Never let someone tell you how you should feel about what happened to you."
  266. >there was a look of shock on her face
  267. <"Wait what?"
  268. >I nod my head
  269. "Yes, they are that entitled to how you should feel. They don't particularly care for understanding your perspective or feelings. They just want to force you to feel 'happy' so they can feel better about themselves."
  270. >Asta put put a hand up to her face and her pointy ears drooped down
  271. <"They sound like arrogant assholes who all suck. Shoving shit under the carpet as you'd say, right?"
  272. "Yeah. They're a world wide cult too."
  273. >she let out a frustrated breath through her nose
  274. >she looks back up to me, it was the first time I saw her smile
  275. <"At least you're not one of THEM Anon. T-Thanks."
  276. >her ears crept back up
  277. "So, what did you do to survive?"
  278. >she seemed to be cooling off and calming down
  279. <"I wandered around in the wilderness, eventually hanging around the outskirts of some non-elf town. Fuck elves. I could live though, we're just fine on survival skills."
  280. >being alone and without a home sounded awful
  281. <"I was like that for months, but things got easier as I got used to it."
  282. >Asta looked over to her stove and put the flame out
  283. >she stirred the contents, and it smelled like a savory gumbo
  284. <"Then there was a ream wide announcement that we'd open a portal to your human realm in a month. That was my second chance, I just knew it."
  285. >she shook her arms a little, looking all giddy
  286. "So what did you do?"
  287. >Asta grabbed the handle of the pot on the stove, and scooped some food out with a spoon
  288. <"While the other monsters practiced fucking human dolls, I studied the human."
  289. >she had a couple of spoonfuls between speaking
  290. <"While they obliterated sex toys, I lived in the library, studying every book they had on humans. Pair bonding, child development, relationships, dating, marriage. I studied fucking everything."
  291. >holy shit, now that's dedication
  292. >she finished her meal pretty fast
  293. <"I wanted to be the perfect wife and have a perfect relationship, nothing less. I didn't want to make a mistake and fail. I didn't want to fucking fail, and look where it got me! Alone, homeless, and imprisoned in this library looking for where I went wrong. Looking for more information on humans to see if there was something I missed that fucked everything over."
  294. >it's a shame to see her alone, she is definite wife material
  295. >and she was sad again, it ached my heart to see
  296. >think of the last two days, and get an idea of what to say
  297. "Asta. Listen here. For us, the portal was a complete surprise. Everyone was caught off guard. We got rushed in a snap. Bam!"
  298. >I crashed my palms together like a side swipe on a two lane road
  299. <"So you're saying I wasn't fast enough? Fuck that,"
  300. >she crossed her arms and pouted
  301. "No. Not that you weren't fast enough. Only the easy and obvious targets got taken."
  302. >Asta let her arms droop to her side again, I could see hope in her eyes
  303. <"Go on, tell me more,"
  304. "The people that save themselves for marriage are much more careful. Hey, they're pretty hard to find. But believe me, they exist."
  305. >I had her full attention
  306. <"How can I find one? Please Anon, I must know!"
  307. >I stand up from the wall and stretch my legs a bit
  308. "Just follow me. You'll be united with one by sun down. I guarantee it."
  309. >Asta, excited, rolled up her sleeping bag and straps it to the top of her backpack
  310. >she stuffs the cookware and book in its large pocket and slings it onto her back
  311. >I take the first step home, and she follows
  312.
  313. >I tread down the sidewalk at a casual pace, Asta was right on my tail
  314. <"Anon,"
  315. >I look behind to see her blushing
  316. "What is it?"
  317. <"You're the first person to completely hear me out and reach out."
  318. >I smile
  319. >"No need to thank me. I enjoyed our talk."
  320. >Asta breaks eye contact, her face turns injun red
  321. <"I just... I can't... I'm... STOP FUCKING STUTTERING!"
  322. >cute
  323. <"I really envy the hellhound you're with. You must really make her feel special. But how will she be if she sees you walk home with... With me."
  324. >buying that fluid on the dark web was so fucking worth it
  325. "Hey. Don't worry about a thing."
  326. <"I... I just wish I had found you first. That's all, I've said too much."
  327. >Asta looks very nervous
  328. >I tap the bottom of my chin three times
  329. "Hold your head up high Asta. You know you've come a long way."
  330. >she looks up, and a tear rolls down one of her cheeks
  331. >we was home in almost no time
  332. >I open the door and step in
  333. >but Asta doesn't step inside
  334. "Hey, are you going to come in? You don't have to be alone and homeless any more."
  335. >she uses a sleeve to wipe her eyes
  336. <"Yeah, I know... I know... It's just... STOP IT ASTA! This endless nightmare... It's finally over."
  337. >she finally steps inside
  338. >I close the door shut behind her, causing her to freeze
  339. >Asta finally collects herself
  340. >she looks around the house and notices something isn't quite right
  341. <"Where is your hellhound?"
  342. "Wait here. I'll be back."
  343. >I walk into my bedroom and into the bathroom
  344. >turn on the faucet and wash the ever loving shit out of my face and neck
  345. >dry my face off with a towel
  346. >grab the bottle
  347. >walk back out
  348. >Asta looks at me rather funny
  349. >hand her the bottle
  350. <"What's this?"
  351. "Remember when I said people saving themselves are hard to find?"
  352. >she opens the bottle and takes a whiff
  353. >she lets it slip from her hands, drops it to the floor
  354. >I can see in her mind all the gears shifting into place
  355. >her backpack slides off and crashes on the ground
  356. <"You sure are one clever motherfucker Anon."
  357. >I walk into the living room and she follows me
  358. >she is very close to me
  359. >I point to a large mirror on the wall
  360. "So, what do you think?"
  361. >tears of joy run down her face
  362. "Talk. I'm listening. So take you're time."
  363. >Asta wraps her arms around me, and buries her face into my shirt
  364. >I walk her over to the couch and take a seat
  365. >hug her, run a hand though her silver hair
  366. >she looks up at me with watery eyes
  367. <"I've waited so long!"
  368. >and the rest is history
