- Yogan, Igo 's hands come up to his face and he gently pulls the blindfold down so that the piece of cloth rests around his neck. He blinks a few moment, letting his eyes adjust to the dim light of the cell he was in. Then, he began to observe his surroundings.[1]
- It looked like a standard jail cell; there was a mirror with a sink, and toilet and a bed. Next to him, on the wall was an equation. He stared at it for a moment, doing his best quick mafs in his head. '9 squared is 81, and 6 squared is 36... which means that X equals.... uh... 45..' he thinks to himself.[2]
- "Yeah. Can you hear me?" he calls out, recognizing Kata's voice. "That you, Kata?"
- Yogan, Igo nods, though Somen can't see him do so. He takes a moment to consider the riddle on the wall.[3]
- “When one bears no lock to pick, and no key to turn, they must create their own. This does not mean you can wash yourself of responsibility.” Igo rubs at his chin for a moment, considering this, then answers Somen.[4]
- "Think that's a safe assumption, mate. But yeah... I have a riddle, and a math equation over here. You said a 'four' number combo? Are the missing numbers labeled by letters, Kata?" he asks.[5]
- As he waits for his response, he contemplates the riddle. Something about it kept drawing his attention. "Do you guys have any riddles?" Yogan, Igo glances toward the sink and the toilet as a thought strikes him. 'This does not mean I can wash myself of responsibility' he recites in his mind.[6]
- He approaches the washing area, closely examining the sink, the pipes beneath it connecting it to the water supply system, and its fixture to the bricks. He meticulously does the same, going over the mirror carefully. He'd try everything, from pulling it down and off the wall, to staring into it.[7]
- He moves to the toilet next, and goes over it just as carefully.
- Yogan, Igo notices something stuffed down in the drain, but in such a way that extraction would be painful. He huffed, then chewed on his bottom lip, rubbing at his chin. Another idea hits him. He lifts the lid off the back of the toilet's water tank and manages to finagle the lever that lifted and lowered the water valve off its mechanism.[8]
- He smirked, and then made his way back to the sink. Then he'd begin to slowly and carefully fish the object out as best as he could, using the small plastic arm and the chain attacked to it.[9]
- "I found something in my sink! Give me a second, working on getting it out." Yogan, Igo // "Awesome, you two! Give me one second!"
- Igo turns and makes his way to the bed, stipping the thing blanket off. Then he'd grab the flushing arm of the toilet and grab it by the broken chain. He'd take a few minutes to roughly drag one of the split links at the end of the chain across the rough stone of the wall until there was a jagged edge. He smirks, and turns to the blanket, which he stretches over the floor.[10]
- With some effort and being extremely careful, using the sharpened chain link, he would cut thin strips from the blanket until he had three or four long strips. He ties the ends together to make a long rope out of the blanket. Then, he takes one end of the rope and ties it throught/around the key as securely as possible. He gives it a few tugs to make sure it wouldn't come loose under stress. His smirk grows.[11]
- "Alright, whoever is in three, get ready to try and grab this!" he calls out. Then he places one end of the rope in his mouth. He takes the other with the key in one hand, and stretches his arms as far as he can with the chains attached to them through the gate...[12]
- And then he throws the key to the best of his ability. He jerks his head the opposite direction to add tension to the throw and help it take the curvature of the wall and hopefully stop near enough to the gate that Somen could grab it.[13]
- "Did you get it?!" he asks, taking the end of the rope from his mouth with his hands. Yogan, Igo walks over to the his toilet first, and inspects it once more. The wash line of the riddle kept coming back to him. He took a deep breath, then stuck his hand into the the toiled, hoping to maybe see if there was another key down in the water. If there wasn't, he'd examine the water tank once more to see if he'd pissed anything.[15]
- If he found nothing, he'd make his way over to the mirror, and attempt to smash through it with the corner of his manacles, to see if there might be anything behind it. If there wasn't, he'd peer into the drain of the sink once more. Maybe there was another key further down?[16]
- If he didn't find anything, he'd make his way back to the gate. "There's nothing here that I can see..."[17]
- Yogan, Igo waited for the chisel to knock against the bars to the door of his cage. He grinned, reached a hand through while straining against the chain. After only just managing to grab it, he got to work.[18]
- He started slowly at first, making a groove in the wrist-clasp parts on each side. Then he got to work sawing and chipping away. Yogan, Igo takes a moment to breathe, calming his nerves. He closes his eyes, for a few seconds, and then stares down at his wists. He takes a deep breath, then begins to chisel away at the screw locking the manacle on his right wrist.[19]
- "Any chance you could lend me some of that strength without poppin' full monkey-boy mode?" Igo mutters quietly to Goku. Yogan, Igo at first, he stares at Goju incredulously, then he just grins and shakes his head, going back to chiseling away at the screws, again. "If you have any jutsu that can slice through this, hit me with it. Kata can patch me up." Igo says matter or factly. "If not, I'm about to break my hands."[20]
- takes a deep breath. He lines up to begins his sprints. He does them in sets of repitions; to the west all, then back to the east, and then all the way back to the square. He nodded to himself reassuringly. Then, he imagined a whistle blowing, and off he went.[21]
- He pumped his legs as hard and as fast as he could, running hard. Soon the west wall came into view. On he went, until he neared the towering barrier. He slapped it once with a hand. Then he turned around and bolted in the opposite direction. After a few minutes, the east wall loomed into his view.[22]
- On he went like that, pushing himself to his limit and then beyond. After a full half an hour of pure sprinting, he began to slow. His chest heaved for air and his lungs burned. His legs felt as though they would fly off... but still, on he pushed himself.[23]
- It was his 17th pass at the western wall that his body had decided would be the last he'd make. His arms shook and his legs quivered as he pushed himself forward. He reached the wall, and then slapped his right hand against it. Then, with an exasperated sigh, he collapsed, arms and legs sprawled out on the grass.[24]
- It was a long time before the rise and fall of his chest slowed. After a long while, his breathing calmed and returned to normal. He pushed himself up into a seating position and grinned. That was Part one down![25]
