*yawns* [panicked] Wait what? What's happening?

Huh? Baby?  You're awake! It's... *squints at clock* [surprised] it's 4am! We need to be up in 3 hours for work. [concerned] Why are you awake?

*Rustling then an exhale of breath* [calmer] Sorry. Sorry. I just... I don't exactly react well to a kick in the shins at 4am.

*yawns*

Apology accepted baby. Just, just don't make it a habit, please. I don't quite know how to go walking through the gym with bruised shins and not be stared at with suspicion.

*Half heartedly laughs then sighs*

You didn't answer my question. Why are you awake? You've never been an insomniac before. If anything, you always fall asleep like that *snaps fingers* and I lose all chance of me ever waking you up. [adopts a fake serious voice] In the battle of sleep versus me, I lose and by a long way. Its no laughing matter. [drops the voice]To be honest in a battle between an air raid siren and sleep, sleep will win.

*laughs nervously* Oh, even in the dark I can feel your death stare. And I know you're planning which rib to jab for the most pain. Don't you dare.  *laughs*

*yawns then stops abruptly. Listener has mumbled something* Baby, what did you say? You mumbled something and i didnt catch it.

The presentation tomorrow? You mean the one for your project? Is that what's kept you awake all night?

You dont even need to say a word and I know that's a yes.

*sighs* Oh baby, come here and let me hold you.

[Softly] You have nothing to be nervous about, sweetheart. No you don't. This is what you do best.

You have a way with words. You always know the right words to say to win someone over or to brighten their day. It's why so many people look up to you, myself included. I know you doubt yourself. It still surprises me that you do. You always think that this time is where you'll hit your limit and they'll stop paying attention but you prove yourself wrong all the time. You always do.

Remember what you told me when you first started dating? You used to lie down before bed and convince yourself that you should give up thinking love was for you. That you were destined for a boring job and a life where the weeks are all the same. From what I remember, you said you did that a lot.

(rustling) Let me stroke your cheek. Look at you now. You have an incredible job and it keeps getting better and (clears throat)[bashful] I might have come into your life at some point. And, I don't know. Maybe... Maybe that's love. Just guessing. But what do I know? *laughs* Oh I'm being cheesy with my words, am I? Well I was aiming to be sweet but fine, I'll be cheesy too.

Babe, It's not impossible, never was. But... em....*yawns* sorry, but you can't be amazing without some sleep.


Huh? *laughs* I know. Who knew I could be so eloquent at 4am?  But you needed to hear me and even with a bruised shin, or two, I am still ok to do that.

Cuddle in close and try for even a couple of hours. I'll get up early and make sure you don't sleep in and your clothes are sitting out. *sighs* There we go. Now. No more shin kicking please and more sleep. *yawns* good night baby.
