  1. Spirit Magic
  2. The Magic of House Alwetend is about altering and effecting perception – whether your own or others. It is associated with knowledge, understanding, and magic in general.
  3.
  4. Roots: Influence, Negate, Illusion, Time, Movement
  5.
  6. Influence – Influence covers magic that alters how others act towards you or other people or in general. This is altering their perception of people or events – or potentially altering yourself so that others perceive what you say in a better light.
  7.
  8. Example Effects
  9. Charm – There are multiple ways to do this from making the other person your friend, to making yourself more charming.
  10. Hatred – Altering another person’s perception of someone or of events or an idea to the extent that they hate it.
  11. Fear – From intimidation to making someone back away this one influences the person to be feeling fear from something – either amplifying an existing fear or creating a new one.
  12.
  13. Negate – As spirit is the school that is associated with magic as its whole, Negate is the effect that exists to help remove magic that is imposed by another mage’s will. While it is a narrower root word in types of effects, the amount of use you get out of that effects is very versatile.
  14.
  15. Example Effects
  16. Dispel – this is the primary effect of Negate – it is to remove magic though it requires that you are able to overcome the might of the spell that the original caster put on it.
  17.
  18. Illusion – One can alter what is seen, heard or perceived by the senses in different ways depending on how adept one is with illusions. From false memories to false sights, to false warriors, illusion is the art of magical deception.
  19.
  20. Example Effects
  21.
  22. Image – This is perhaps the classic illusion effect – that of creating an image that is not really there. Into this one can add other perceptions that might be found – such as sound, touch and others depending on one’s skill and strength.
  23.
  24. Sound – Much like Image there is an effect for each of the senses. Sound is probably the second best known – a false sound in the distance being just as useful often.
  25.
  26. False Memories – A more corner case of Illusion this is one where the illusion is placed into someone’s mind as a real memory. Difficult to perform unobtrusively it is subtle but powerful in how it alters people and their perceptions of the world but it has to be done right or else something may seem ‘wrong’.
  27.
  28. Time – Time is one of the most complex areas of magical manipulation due to the potential for causing issues that is not fully explored. Many of the greatest time mages have disappeared somewhere before they taught what they knew so the true boundaries of this are unknown but some basic manipulation of it is known.
  29.
  30. Example Effects
  31.
  32. Sleep – While called ‘sleep’ this effect is more putting the person into a trance state of time passing by them for a short period when they will ‘awaken’.
  33.
  34. Fore-sight – One of the most common uses of Time magic is to seek knowledge of the future without risking time traveling by looking into the future. How accurate it is and how far depends on the users skill and power as does its reliability. Specialists in this effect have been called seers at times.
  35.
  36. Trance – One of the odder abilities for Time Mages is the ability to let time pass them by in a short of trance unaging. While it is speculated that it might be possible to stop aging entirely, this doesn’t do that instead going into a form of trance that lets them bypass the time between.
  37.
  38. Pause – This is the first of the time manipulation effects that people think of – stopping time around you so that you can do something. It is a shorter term ability lacking the complexities of stronger ones b
  39.
  40.
  41. Movement – Spirit can also affect the way people move around or even cause instant movement across distances.
  42.
  43. Example Effects
  44.
  45. Slow - This effect causes someone to slow down a lot and move slower
  46.
  47. Speed – This effect causes someone to speed up and move quicker.
  48.
  49. Teleport – this Effect allows you to travel to teleport to an area you’ve been before.
  50.
  51. Fly – This effect allows you to fly through the air
