  1. ------
  2. Cooking guide outlines
  3. ---
  4. General:
  5. Be a survivalist and use harvesting flask (the ones from the shop stack with the renown ones)
  6. Be smart: The general Cooking Achievments (if you look in your Tech Tree, everything in the (from left) first and third collumn) will greatly help you do get better results with the more obsucre, zone or theme bound achievments (second and forth collumn).
  7. If you don't have any cooking materials already, save them up and start crafting once you have most of the stuff you need to complete everything.
  8. Having a subscription helps you, you get 10% bigger circles for discovering variants.
  9. While farming, pick each and every herb along the way. it helps. (you should plant them in your garden)
  10.
  11. I will not list where you can get all the recipes, you will get most of them while farming the materials anyway.
  12. -NOTE: The only thing that i did farm, was a recipe from dominion npcs in northern celestion, so you might want to look that up. (most likely deradune or ellevar cooking related)
  13. -NOTE: If you got the bag space, some recipes go for crazy money on the AH, compared to the effort you need to put into them.
  14. ----
  15. Talents
  16. ---
  17. Level 1: Experimental Chef. It helps.
  18. Level 2: Leftovers. Even though you can't really count on it, when you begin to craft your own buff food, it will save you money.
  19. Level 3: Gatherer. I don't think it works on meat drops, but having that little bit of additional flowers helps, i guess. you don't really craft basic meat or fish meals anyways.
  20. Level 4: Whatever tickles your fancy. all of them are basically useless in their own little way.
  21. Level 5: Pick whatever you like. I like the Additional Ingredient Slot for having done all discoveries, but i can see that increased target size is usefull in some cases.
  22. Level 6: Caterer. More Bang for your buck.
  23. Level 7: whatever.
  24. Level 8: useless. Especially as you must have completed DS cooking, this is a joke.
  25. ----
  26. Basic Cooking
  27. ---
  28. Cooking I - II - III - IV - V
  29. ---
  30. With each iteration of this Achievement, you will unlock better ingredients to use in your crafts, therefore you would aim on completing these achievements first and before you craft anything elese.
  31. The good news: you will have more than enough materials to complete everything in this and more once you have gathered the materials for all the zone bound achievements in your tech tree.
  32. Each of these achievements has one meal in the following Schematic groups:
  33. -Meat Meals
  34. -Bug Meat Meals
  35. -Poultry Meals
  36. -Seafood Meals
  37. -Vegetarian Option Meals
  38.
  39. Each of these Groups has 5 Meals (for the 5 tiers of basic cooking, see what Carbine did there? wierd how that works, isn't it?)
  40.
  41. Should you need that little bit extra of materials, you can always use the auction house. The price for most of this stuff is reasonable, as it is just stuff you get when farmign the zone specific materials anyway.
  42. ----
  43. A Special Primer for Hybrid Meals:
  44. 1.) Fuck this.
  45. 2.) You need to be beloved with 'The Exiles/The Dominion' in order to learn all meals.
  46. 2.5.) You only need to buy the skills. there are no discoveries, so only 50 meals remain for two basically free skill points in cooking.
  47. 3.) If you want to be smarter than the guy writing this stuff, try to craft a few while doing auroria cooking, whitevale cooking and while finishing the general cooking achievements.
  48. 4.) if you are like me and ignored this achievement because it is basically the boottom of the list, you want to gather some additional honeywheat and some bug Meat and force you way through this achievement.
  49. (Works just as well with Glowmelon and Gourmet Poultry, but fuck both of those things when you have a way cheaper option at hand.)
  50. ----
  51. Zone Based Cooking Primer
  52. ---
  53. Each zone has 3-4 Materials from the local (or not so local, as you will see) wildlife.
  54. So basically you will have 1 Schematic for each food and a combination of all of the zone specific materials for a 'westfall stew'-kind-of meal.
  55. Each Schematic has discoveries, so you will most likely (dependent on your luck and your ability to grasp the way these discoveries work) craft about 3-5 meals of the basic variant to get one discovery.
  56. Each of these Zones also has an achievement in the Tech Tree that requires you to cook 50 meals of that Group. The logical part is to cook as many meals as you need to get all discoveries and than fill up with the meals that have the easiest materials to farm.
  57. I will try to leave a comment on every zone on what I think is the simplest material for that zone.
  58. ----
  59. Agoroc Eats
  60. ---
  61. Roan Steak: Roans north of gallow (also kill the dagun while you are at it, you will need Dagun Meat later)
  62. girrok chuck: between grim's lumber mill and gallow
  63. stumpkin root: north of grim's lumber mill
  64. -NOTE: All 3 of them are relativly easy to come but, but gettign the stumpkin roots and roansteaks would be the easiest for the 50 meals achievemnt, as you can go around in circles in a relativly small area.
  65. ----
  66. Celestion comestibles
  67. ---
  68. Dawngrazer Meat: oddly, best farmed in deradune with mammodin flank
  69. snoglug meat: best from Greenbark Spewer, you can run an easy circle like round in the area
  70. buzzbing meat: you have the option to farm then in southern celestion (Dazeroot Hiveguard) or the entry area of galeras OR on the honey hive area of auroria near the river. i would recommend the later, as you get some buzzbign thoraxes aswell
  71. -NOTE: for the 50 meals cooked achievement, i would recommend getting a mixture of dawngrazer meat and buzzbing meat, as farmign the slugs is annoying as you run aroudn far more ten you are actually kill stuff.
  72. ---
  73. Deradune Victuals
  74. ---
  75. -NOTE: all of them can be farmed in a small, confined area or by doing big circles. Start here if you are starting out your cooking journey.
  76. Mammodin Flank: Combustible Mammodin, on a hill just northwest of metal maw's cage. in that area you have dawngrazers and mammodins. this is by far the easiest area to farm both meat types.
  77. Garr Backstrap & Pumera meat: follow the river south from feralplain collective and turn east when you get to the bend south of metal maw's cage until you hit the waterfall and kill all garr in the river while doing so. go north in a relativly straight line and kill all pumera you encounter, when you reach the feralplain collective again, follow the river again and repeat.
  78. ---
  79. Ellevar Edibles
  80. ---
  81. Dagun meat: farm it in algoroc (see Roan Steak) or Plagued Fields Hunter in Auroria (while farming Dagun Steak, nice circle way to farm)
  82. Ravenok Thigh: Copperworth Village (see Bleakwing Elder), you can run around the outskirts of the village and dip into the center for the bird groups
  83. Spider meat: Forst just east of Grimwatch Outpost, kill all the spiders (the rootbrute's here don't drop any kind of meat, ignore them.)
  84. -NOTE: depending if you farmed enough dagun in algoroc earlier, you can do either of the two alternatives to get materials for the 50 meals. personally, i would go for the birds, as you don't got many different birds in the game and need to cook 100 general bird meats anyways.
  85. ---
  86. Galeras Grub
  87. ---
  88. Roan Tenderloin: Hill on the southwestern edge of Galeras, you can run around in a nice, small circle there.
  89. Buzzbing Thorax: depending if you farmed them in auroria earlier for Buzzbing Meat, i would highly recommend to combine it with Stemdragon Meat
  90. Gribbon Breast: if you are Exile, go to Crosswind Post and watch for the birds in the air. you can make a nice, big circle once you learn all bird locations in the area. If you are dominion, your best bet is to go to the stone bridge formation between skywatch and tempest refuge and pray for a decent respawn rate
  91. Stemdragon Meat: Area East of Crosswind Post, you can run around in circles and farm buzzbing thorax along the way (serious, the amount of bees in this area is amazing), if you haven't already done so. You might to stay a bit longer here as you will need double the amount of buzzbing thorax because you need it for the auroria meals aswell. You can complete your galeras 50 meals progress with stemdragon meat then.
  92. ---
  93. Auroria Chow:
  94. ---
  95. Cubacon: Cubig Farms, between the cubigfarm and Honeyworks headquaters marker. the droprate is very low, but this is your best bet. you can farm soem girroks here aswell, if you break out of the farm a bit to the north while you wait for cubig respawns.
  96. Buzzbing Thorax: See Buzzbing Meat or Stemdragon Meat.
  97. Dagun Steak: Bingberry Orchard. you will get some lesser Dagun Meat on the side while being here.
  98. Boulderback meat: Hills above the noxious glade. OR (would recommend) west of Snowfade Grounds in Whitevale (see Mammodin Stirloin)
  99. -NOTE: Boulderback Meat and Cubacon are annoying to farm, therefore farm more bugs in galeras or Daguns in the Orchard.
  100. ---
  101. Whitevale Vittles
  102. ---
  103. Dawngrazer Shank: Snowsoft Meadows, run in a big circle on the outskirts of the area. you will get some excess Dawngrazer Stirloin and Rootbrute Meat (if you kill them whiel you are here).
  104. -NOTE: These are the most annoying materials you have to farm in the first few area by a long shot, even the slugs aren't that annoying.
  105. Shellark Meat: Bay area south of Deadrock Prison.
  106. Fatty Walatusk Meat: Keep circeling the lake south of thermock hold (U shaped runway), i would recommend to end your turn with a visit to the fields where you will be farming the Mammodin Sirloin and go back from there OR just go to the lake in the eastern part of the zone, but respawn is horribly slow there
  107. Mammodin Sirloin: West of Snowfade Grounds. You can get some Boulderback Meat while you are here. OR Cliffs south west of Profitorium 9 (see Wooly Mammodin / Wooly Trampler)
  108. -NOTE: All of them except the Shellark Meat suck to farm. I know, swimming and diving while farming something is annoying, but atleast the droprate is halfway decent and the area is densly populated.
  109. ---
  110. Farside Foods
  111. ---
  112. -NOTE: Still not of the most pleasant kind, these materials are at least a bit more accessible then Whitevale. Try to go out of your way to get some glowmelons (or seeds) while beeing off the planet surface
  113. Steamglider Meat: Only found in the southern-central area of Biodome 3, on the rocks of the 'middle' level of the pillar. Having ranged attacks or attacks that target the enemy you have in target helps alot.
  114. -NOTE: If you are a settler, you might want to farm in the biodome, as you can get a gravity defiance buff, that increases jump height and reduces fall speed.
  115. Rootbrute Meat: If you spend enough time in whitevale and bothered to kill the rootbrutes near the area for Dawngrazer Shank, you should have enough. Otherwise check Terminite Guts and Hookfoot Meat.
  116. Terminite Guts: From the terminites in the area between Touchdown Site Bravo (exile hub for farside) and the center of the crater. (think eastern-quater of the central crater)
  117. Hookfoot Meat: Mostly found on the south-western and north-western quaters of the central quater.
  118. -NOTE: You can do a circle in both of the northern quaters of farsides central crater and do a little breakout to the south on the eastern part (even more south, if you want to get some extra rootbrute meat)
  119. ---
  120. Wilderrun Provisions
  121. ---
  122. -NOTE: you might have a few dawngrazer sirloin from whitevale.
  123. Dawngrazer Sirloin: See Pumera Rump Roast. There are a few more Dawngrazers north of the spot i used for the pumera and razortail meat, if you need that little bit extra.
  124. Pumera Rump Roast: Twilight Grove north of Research Camp Echo. You can run around in a circle and get 3 of the meat types you need from the strain corrupted variants of the animals you need to kill. You can ignore the Garr (crocodile like enemies) in this area. Also the pumera found in the torine sisterhood camps can yield this aswell.
  125. Razortail Meat: See Pumera Rump Roast. Otherwhise, there are a few Razortails located south east of Twilight Grove, along the road.
  126. Snoglug Flesh: Around the waterway nearl giant's wall and wilderrun chase. This will be the stuff you will do to fill up on, so you can hit your 50 meals crafted achievement.
  127. ---
  128. Malgrave Sustenance
  129. ---
  130. -NOTE: the numbers of meat per serving are a bit off on this one (you need less than usual), check how much you need before going to grind.
  131. -NOTE: do this one after or during your grimvault cooking achievments.
  132. Scrab Meat: Drops from just about every scorpion in malgrave. East of Redsand Station are quite a few you can do while going for Excellent Boulderback Roast.
  133. Spikehorde Meat: You have 2 options, and both are horrible: 1) Go to the Area just north of Robber's Rest and hope you get lucky with drops (only 2 of the 3 spikehorde type of enemies drop the meat you are after), or 2) go farm the spikehorde pets in Starcom, but there are even less then in the first area i mentioned.
  134. Chompacabra Meat: See Excellent Boulderback Roast and/or Pure Gribbon Meat.
  135. -NOTE: Chompacabra Meat will be the thing you will use most to fill your 50 meals, i still got over 30 leftovers after finishing cooking, just form the stuff while farming the other meat.
  136. Thick Sliced Cubacon: Run in a circle around the Hellrose Bowl. Droprate is better then the cubacon in ellevar, so that's a plus.
  137. ---
  138. Grimvault Meals
  139. ---
  140. -NOTE: You will need more materials than you are used to, as most foods require more meat per serving.
  141. Perfect Dawngrazer Fillet: See Pure Gribbon Meat. Otherwise, the southern area of Southern grimvault is littered with Dawngrazers.
  142. Pure Gribbon Meat: There is a super nice circle in southern grimvault for this, You will also get Perfect Dawngrazer Fillet and Chompacabra meat along the Way.(http://www.jabbithole.com/npcs/greycrest-striker-53 only the spots in the western (exile) part.)
  143. Splendid Roan Ribs: In the R-12 Daily area in malgrave, just north of the exile hub on the area that looks like an abandoned farm. Only farm as few as you need, as the drop rate is abysmal.
  144. Excellent Boulderback Roast: Do a big nice circle around the Gravestone Area in Malgrave (http://www.jabbithole.com/npcs/red-shaleback-bull-42). Some additional Chombacabras on the northwestern edge of that route and some more scrab on the south esastern part, if you want to get them.
  145. -NOTE: You will want to cook as many things wit the boulderback roast as you can, even though you need 4 pieces for each meal, it's jsut the most pleasant to farm and the droprate is really good - compared to the other items.
  146. ---
  147. Elder Meals and special Diet
  148. ---
  149. This stuff is obtained from killing any level 50 enemy that qualifies for survival harvesting (poultry from birds, obviously, etc.), but it is actually fairly cheap on the auction house because is just falls of while doing dailies and dungeons and generally doing level 50 pve content.
