Annals of the Shakai-dai

In the mists of legends the noble Lotus Emperor visited the primitive natives of Arconia's woodlands. Gifting these savages the knowledge of civilization and most importantly the code of Honor and dignity that would become a hallmark of these Arconians. At first there was but the native species who followed the way an isolationist people who utilized cunning and sabotage to keep threats at bay. So was it that a foundation of culture was formed upon the planet. Known simply as the Shakai-dai or Great Society to its inhabitants. These early days where known as the Jade Age for it was a time when heroes who had witnessed the Lotus Emperor still lived.

After all those elders who'd heard the Lotus Emperor's words died the Shakai-dai splintered as the people lost sight of their purpose. Squabbling inwardly as savage bands of Oni and other violent spirits stalked the lands. The age of chaos had begun and it stretched on for generations. Only when a great shooting star was seen traveling across the sky with a massive boom as it struck the far north did things change. The Lotus Emperor appeared once more, giving gifts of technology and magic to the people. Raising up a beggar to sainthood to lead the reunified Shakai-dai. This new leader shifted the peoples focus from the self outwards. Expanding rapidly to incorporate other races upon Arconia and lands into the Shakai-dai.

This was generations ago. Now the people look forwards towards the future and the return of the Lotus Emperor once more. Believing that only if they are able to fully unify and civilize Arconia will they be deemed worthy for another visit from their god. Under the last surviving descendant of the Lotus Emperor's chosen heir. It is not uncommon to spot the White Lotus symbol of the Shakai-dai anywhere on Arconia. As the relentless advance of their explorers, diplomats, and merchants scour the planet.
