"My Demotion"

as far as i can tell, because despite my best efforts i was never given a proper explanation beyond this, i was mostly demoted because i sad bad things about senior staff. ok. lets ask why i said bad things about senior staff? here's the timeline according to pwnemon:

    june 2014. be tier leader. as far as u can tell, everything is going fine, then u learn about smogmog and how not only did you not know information that could be important to the running of doubles, you didn't even know you didn't know this information. be (understandably imo) upset. say some things about smogmog that to the best of your knowledge are true, but then turn out not to be afterward. senior staff gets mad that u said things that weren't true because they withheld the truth from you so you did your best with what you did get. they threaten to demote you over this.
    september 2014. pocket steps down as tier leader. because u said the bad things about smogmog, senior staff says "fuck you" when you try to make blood totem your co leader and makes it mizuhime instead. they then send you a really condescending pm that basically says "youre not competent but youre tier leader anyways, be nice to us or we'll demote you."
    january 2015. the whole mizuhime thing is going so exceptionally well that i send oglemi a PM about it (the logs linked in the pm in order: 1 2 3 4 5. Oglemi responds with, i kid you not, "i swear if trc is the one who leaked the log of mizuhime being a tyrannical cunt i will punch him, also youre as bad as she is".
    april 2015. the style fiasco. blood totem is demoted for a harmless joke post that he had made 2 months prior. as a result, one of like 3 active and competent people in doubles c&c loses his motivation and quits c&c for good. i am also infracted because i make a joke about style's manaphy set, despite the only instructions in the ost thread being "don't insult anyone" and i really doubt that "icicle plate is a meta call" can be ever construed as an insult to anyone. eventually, this infraction would be used by tennisace on irc as the direct justification for my being demoted when i asked; however, im more inclined to put stock into the oglemi assertion that i was demoted for my "shitty attitude" which he said behind closed doors.
    june 2014 - july 2015. not a week goes by where im not reminded that if i dont tow the party line im going to get demoted. its really rude, especially considering how ive been the most active contributor to doubles for a long ass time. its natural that i would bristle at these repeated threats, and i say things like "fuck senior staff if they actually try to pull that." afaik this, along with my criticism of how senior staff handled the bloo shit, is basically why i was demoted.



its not like my replacement, mizuhime, was a better pick than myself. don't just take my word for it, the entire doubles council sans lolk signed onto this piratepad asking for her to be demoted during her previous term thanks to her attitude problem (it was agreed that i would store it as a word doc in case it was needed again). i mean since being reinstated as tier leader 7 weeks ago she's written a whopping THREE POSTS long enough to hit the dots on the preview window. well maybe she's active in C&C...? hmm, nope, her last post there was in October 2014. Oh, but at least she posted the suspect test! Wait, she fucked up the voting reqs and i had to step in and fix it.

Compare to myself, who runs the viability rankings, streams weekly, hand-collects usage stats from the summer seasonal, is a C&C mod, and in the same period of time had THIRTY-ONE POSTS (thats 10 times as many) long enough to not fit in the preview window.


So how was this issue originally addressed? Well, I didn't even know I was in any sort of trouble until I saw that I had already been demoted. tennisace edited arcticblast's post to take out the most blatantly opposed-to-this-decision part of it in the thread which announced my demotion, and when omfuga attempted to make a smogmog thread about it, it was deleted. this seems to be a pretty classic pattern when it comes to senior staff huh.


when it comes to the doubles community, favor of me being tier leader is quite high. as you can see in this thread the post announcing my demotion got 7 likes while arcticblast's post in thinly veiled opposition got eleven times that many. compare for reference the post where Agent Dell was forcibly demoted and you can see a clear difference in like count. Furthermore, it wouldn't take much of your time to conduct a survey of the doubles community. SpaceBass already did and told me that like every doubles auth was in favor of me returning to tier leadership, though im not privy to the forum conversation where this took place.

it's clear that the decision was not made in the interests of the doubles ou community so i kind of have to ask how you can defend a decision which stands to hurt the people directly affected by it. my dislike of senior staff came about because of the way they hide information, don't communicate decisions beforehand and make decisions based solely on how they are affected by them and not how the rest of the site is, and fittingly these same principles came into play in my own demotion.


this thread isnt for tooting my own horn or attacking mizuhime but i feel i need to make a case for myself here and that case does include being far more qualified for the role of tier leader
