- Journal entry 301
- I, Hans son of Berkel, proud gunner of the Roar of Sigmar platoon of the first wave of Karl Franz’s expeditionary force have finally felt the sweet freedom of release from this damned boat. It has been months since I was last able to feel solid earth. No longer will I have to endure nights of feeling ill because of the damnable waves rocking our vessel. No longer will I have to endure the awful rations while the captain of our transport ship feasted like Franz himself. I often wonder whether the others on the other ships were subjugated to eating such filth that could even repel the blasphemous powers of the north that plagued the Empire. Our first task is to secure the beach head and set up camp, despite the climate being rather muggy it seems that general Wulfhart has picked a strategic point for our colony. I shall write more of what’s to come later for I am needed now. Until next time journal, you are my only bastion of sanity.

- Journal entry 302
- Journal, the night was disastrous. While we slept beasts of enormous size came upon us as silently as a silent wind. Several of our men were slain before the poor cook, Gretta, came upon one of the beasts tearing a man asunder. She did not fair well after, but gods bless her for if not for her the night would have been even more disastrous. General Wulfhart is demanding we complete the fortifications by dusk lest we become ravaged by the ever-hungry denizens of the jungle. It must be a trick of the light, but on occasion I can see eyes leering at me from the tree line while I work. I won’t be able to sleep tonight. I don’t think the others will either, everyone is tense after last nights events. I am being called to work and shall tend to you another time journal.

- Forgive me journal for I have been unable to write to you due to the amount of work that has been demanded of us. After building the fortifications we doubled the night guard to ensure the events of the first night does not occur. Yesterday we were greeted by an immense reptilian beast and its entourage of smaller reptilian creatures, it presented us with a stone plaque and disappeared back into the jungle shortly after its arrival. Many of the men were on edge by the intimidating presence of the brute. Wulfhart’s mage took the plaque to his study and did not leave his tent for the rest of that day. That brings us to this morning, Wulfhart announced to us that the denizens of this jungle do not welcome the men of the empire and demand we leave back to where we came from. They believe that we are trespassing and that if we do not leave, we shall suffer the consequences. Wulfhart rounded up some men and ventured into the jungle after his announcement. A short while after dusk he returned with the carcass of a monstrous reptilian beast, somewhat like the one we witnessed yesterday but this one seemed more feral. Wulfhart has kept up double guard duties.

- This is it! This is the moment I have been waiting for! No more guard duty for Hans, the Roar of Sigmar have been given the honor of retrieving an artifact of ancient power from some nearby ruins. We are to scout out a path through the jungle soon and prepare our carriage for the journey. Our hellblaster gun will keep the beasts at bay as we take the artifact and use it as leverage to broker a deal with the local inhabitants and secure resources. Our mission can save this expedition! Karl Franz himself may greet us as heroes when we return home from this gods forsaken land. Father would be so proud.

- Journal, scouting the jungle has been treacherous. We finally located our artifact inside a vast temple. It seems to be uninhabited, however we have seen some footprints here and there around the temple grounds. Markus was bit by a snake in the middle of the second day and now his foot has swollen to the size of an ogre’s arm. He has had a fever since and continues to spew nonsense about giant monsters stalking us through the jungle. I fear the worst for Markus. We will make it to camp by nightfall and come tomorrow we will take our carriage through the makeshift path and retrieve the artifact. Glory awaits!
- Journal entry 309
- That was too easy journal. We blazed a path through the makeshift trail we created during our time scouting and made it to the artifact. Small Tim and Schrute are loading the artifact onto the wagon as I write. Despite having such an easy go at this I can’t help but feel eerie. After Markus passed late last night, I can’t help but be a little paranoid of my surroundings. I need to relax journal. Thank you for being my bastion of sanity throughout this expedition. Oh, gods journal... I see something. It’s huge! I am too afraid to drop my writing quill. Sigmar be with us the drums have started, there are so many of them. The roar, Schrute has taken my repeater rifle, he is shooting at the monster that is chasing us. If something happens to the horse this beast will devour us whole! Markus’s delusions were visions of the future! We must make it to camp, I can’t die here. We are approaching the temple near camp now. I must help, I am Hans son of Berkel, if this is my final entry let it be known that I fought with honor.
