After the battle with Zero's army, it left Jin battered and bruised through the tank at the medic part of the hospital.  From there he went to confront the Saints again after trying to unlock his Cosmos. After speaking with the other two, it seems like the leader didn't believe in his words.
Jin had a long conversation with Tsuru Bell about becoming a Saint, and she still seemed unsure.  After he declared he didn't need the power to do right by the city, but he wanted the ability to do more of the town. She begins to easy up, but tell him that the Universe is the best judge of character and she would pick him unless he were able to do it himself.
He tried before the battle with Zero's army, and now he would seek to draw the power into his body, but he left her with these words.

"Jin says: If that's the cause I'll spend the rest of the day preparing for tomorrow.
Jin says: I believe in you all, and I hope you find in me.
Jin says: I mean every word I said and I'll prove it.."


Jin then seeks the highest point of a mountain, crossing his legs and trying his best to connect with the Universe.  He doesn't think speaking would work but gives it a try anyway.

"I don't know if the Universe can hear me, but I wish to make a change and prove myself worthy to receive the gift of Cosmos. The trip hasn't been easy, and I have to fight my way to test my intentions.
The others won't accept me until I prove myself, will you recognize me? Will you grant me the gift?  I only wish to do right by the people, and my fellow Saints. Will you allow me too?"

Jin didn't return home that night, nor did he leave that position, he attempted to connect with the Universe. The battle was tomorrow, and all the training done thus far will show if he'll have an impact on the conflict.


If Tsuru wanted him to prove himself worthy of calling forth the Cosmos and dawning a Cloth Jin would do so with every fiber of his being.
