The Six Deaths of Malaray

Mortale – A skeletal figure in a black hood, Mortale is always there when no other Death makes claim to a spirit. He always sees them to the afterlife they deserve, and never fails in his job.

Axolotl – Formerly a Grippli, the deep green of his skin has drained to a chalky white, and he wears a black, hooded robe. He is the apprentice to Mortale, though why he needs one is yet unknown.

Aliel – A young lady in a robe of waterfall spray riding on wings of rainbow, Aliel serves as the angel of death to Layana, taking her most faithful to the Pristine Lake personally, where they will live out their happy eternity.

Marquis de Saturday – He appears as no more than a man in black top hat and tailcoat, his face painted with the visage of a skull, but the Marquis facilitates death where he is owed it. People, most commonly in Ochrin, pray that he lifts them of some sickness, and as tribute he lays claim to their soul once they die. Some he favours, and allows their spirits to join his gay court. Others, he uses and plays with as he wishes.

The Hunter – Tales of the Hunter abound in the wilds of Malaray, most often in Wulfshome Forest, but he has been known to appear in cities, and reports vary on his appearance. Some claim they saw a burly man, others a slim woman, and everything in between. The Hunter only claims specimens that will make for good sport, and once such a person dies, he will pursue their soul successfully or die trying.

The End – The End has not been seen by the living, as the other Deaths have. No Sight is strong enough. But those touched by the eldritch tendrils of the universe have felt it. It is a great, slow thing that comes from below and claims those who allow it. It is common practise, when dying, for those who dwell in the Wulfshome forest to give themselves to The End, and allow the earth beneath them to consume their soul. The practise is also not uncommon among druids, farmers, and the more superstitious and traditionalist element of Lofthold.
