  1. Request for a guilty plea for citation #T0339735-4
  2.
  3. Trooper Miller:
  4.
  5. Today I throw myself into the mercy of the court for a guilty plea for the said case. I am hoping to be able to prove that a 3111A violation would be acceptable as an alternative to the original 4 point speed violation of the 3362A citation. The following is a list of reasons why I feel this to be both acceptable on your behalf, and necessary on my behalf:
  6.
  7. • As seen from the attached driver report from PennDot, I currently have a 2 point violation that was due to have its points removed in just over a month from this citation. The 4 point citation would set me at 6 points, requiring a test and 2 years to have off of my record.
  8. • Such a large increase in points means that I would pay about 30% more in insurance over the course of three years. As a college student who is struggling to pay off school and living expenses on his own, this would be a very detrimental result.
  9. • This added cost would mean that I would have to work more than I already do (working 2 jobs currently at over 20 hours a week), and would have less time for school. I strive to maintain a 4.0 gpa, as can be seen in the attached report of last semester's grades.
  10. • The 3111A violation would remedy all of these problems while also maintaining the same revenue for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania State Police without the burden of increased insurance on my behalf, which is again a very serious issue in today's economy and at my age.
  11. • While I can't say that this has completely changed my perspective on things, it certainly has made me slow down and consider the consequences of speeding. I am now a much safer driver, often driving just at the speed limit even despite other cars going faster than myself. You may have also heard this many times, but as an Eagle Scout and one who values pride, this is certainly a true statement and not just a ploy.
  12.
  13. The above reasons provide a moral, logical, and ethical argument as to why the citation should be changed to a no point 3111A violation, at the same fine amount. I humbly and graciously throw myself in the mercy of yourself and the Honorable Judge Cohick today.
  14.
  15. Respectfully,
  16.
  17.
