  3. <Howicus> \\x: No
  4. * \\x was being silly.
  5. <SigmaWP> L235: Prove it
  6. <L235> Ok, sorry about that, I thought that was your opinion
  7. * ty has quit (Read error: Connection reset by peer)
  8. <L235> What is your opinion regarding capitalists and fascism?
  9. <Howicus> L235: I believe SigmaWP was making some reference to Chile specifically re: fascism
  10. <ponie> SigmaWp: "That's like asking what my opinions are with apples and apples"
  11. <SigmaWP> Howicus is correct.
  12. * ty (~ty@wikia/vstf/TyA) has joined
  13. <SigmaWP> L235: That's like asking what my opinions are with rectangles and squares
  14. <SigmaWP> The answer is that not all rectangles are squares, though all squares are rectangles
  15. <L235> So... all fascists are communists?
  16. <Howicus> Fascism is a government system, yeah?
  17. <L235> Yes, that's right
  18. <wctaiwan> oh god I'm out of here
  19. * wctaiwan (wctaiwan@wikipedia/wctaiwan) has left ("Leaving")

  23. <Allen2> Being a President of the United States is not a dangerous job?
  24. <\\x> carly: Sigma is obsessed with capitalism
  25. <Howicus> So it's not comparable to capitalism/socialism directly
  26. <\\x> don't worry too much
  27. <\\x> Wait, does that mean all communists are capitalists?
  28. * carly 22:47 Chile
  29. <SigmaWP> [17:44:35] <Allen2> Being a President of the United States is not a dangerous job? <-- I don't know what anyone said after this because private property has done an excellent job at giving me reliable internet services
  30. <SigmaWP> to begin with fascism we need to look at the roughly similar movements emerging in the aftermath of WWI in Europe, which called themselves "fascist", then look at their characteristics to construct a general category of fascism
  31. <SigmaWP> All of these movements were backed by big business, the petty-bourgeoisie, and more downtrodden sections of the proletariat, as well as significant support from the military apparatus

  35. <SigmaWP> They arose in their strongest forms as reactions to left-wing proletarian movements
  36. * Deskana is now known as Deskana|Away
  37. <SigmaWP> In Italy, fascism arose as a significant movement after the biennio rosso and the factory occupations in 1919-1921, by the bourgeoisie to beat back the rising socialists; in Germany, the KDP and SPD were making advances, but squandered themselves, giving room for the Nazis to grow; In Spain, fascism was in opposition to the Popular Front government; etc etc
  38. <SigmaWP> So fascism is a reactionary movement opposed to the proletarian one largely composed of disaffected petty bourgeoisie and lumpenproletarians and supported by the big bourgeoisie as a cudgel, so to speak, against socialism
  39. <SigmaWP> That's fascism as a movement; fascism in power, as a particular variant of the bourgeois state, has some features that flow from this
  40. * Finnegan stares
  41. <SigmaWP> I have bad internet.
  42. <SigmaWP> I can paste slower
  43. <\\x> You think if there weren't private property you would have better Internet?
  44. <SigmaWP> I'll take that as a green light then
  45. <SigmaWP> its extreme anti-labor practices; second of all is its ideological emphasis on national unity, class collaboration, etc., as a reaction to the class struggle emphasized by the proletariat; scapegoating as a means of unifying "the nation"; broad state autonomy and authoritarianism as a mechanism of forcibly suppressing class struggle and the establishment of a firmer bourgeois dictatorship
  46. <SigmaWP> ok I'm done
  47. <SigmaWP> L235: ^
