  6. Once, there was a maiden
  7. who was afraid of her power, and what it meant to her people, and the people who would make her abuse it for their own ends.
  8. This maiden did not know how to say no, for it was not her lot to do so; she was a servant, and she knew her place.
  9. One day, her people needed her the most, but she was told to stand down
  10. And instead, the maiden ran, and ran, and ran, and ran, crying diamond tears
  11. Until she died, cold, alone, and abandoned
  12. Just like her people did
  13.
  14. The Razor-Edge Between Death and Safety was found by a prospecting team in the reaches near Vos-Ulos, next to the skeletal remains of a long-dead Alchemical of unknown origin. Its history is not known. It is a tightly, precisely fitted set of adamant gears, like the inside of a clock writ large. It is controlled by the hand gestures of the attuned exalt. The gears are so well fitted and precise it is impossible to tell where the movement of them begins; it normally floats a few inches off the attuned user's back, or above their head where it serves as a functional umbrella. The gears are impossibly sharp, functioning as the razor edge of a chain-engine weapon as well as the ticking gyroscopes of a gryoscopic weapon.

  16. Evocations:
  17. Attuning to this artifact automatically unlocks the Industrial Violence Engine and Recursive Trajectory Cut evocations, as it is a Chain-Engine and Gyroscopic weapon.

  26. An Essence 3 Repurchase of this charm increases the effective Whispers rating to 4.

At the end of the scene the field vanishes and the shielded ally's Incapacitated health level is healed. The field vanishes early if you move more than Long range away from the ally, or if you are incapacitated.

When used, the exalted throws the Razor-Edge, which hovers over the target before irising out into a portal, from which descends a pillar of white light and the sound of infinite clockwork. The Great Maker turns his eye onto the target and asks them a single question: "Why do you exist?". If the target is able to justify their existance to Autochthon, they survive, potentially with bonuses depending on Storyteller ruling. If they cannot, the target is instantly slain, reduced to component essence and scattered to the winds. No magic or charm effect can prevent this. This evocation cannot target the same target more than once.
  71.
  72. An exalted cannot use this evocation on a different target from themselves until they have used it against themselves. The user does not have to be in Initiative Crash to use it against themselves.

The weapon may still be used in this form, but cannot be disarmed and the bearer's unarmed attacks may deal Lethal damage without stunting, and the bearer gains (+Essence) soak. If the bearer is unarmored or in light armor, she also gains +(Essence) Hardness. Additionally, if the user has Clarity, she may treat it as if it was 0 or 10 for any roll, whichever is more useful to her. She also reduces the cost of all of the Evocations of the Razor-Edge of Death and Safety by 2m, to a minimum of 1m.
