  1. Character:
  2. Name: Hiromi Sato
  3. Gender : Female
  4. Job: Gekkoukan High student
  5. Arcana: Devil
  6. Persona: Yuki-onna
  7. Quote: “My name is Hiromi Sato. That is all you need to know.”
  8. A newcomer to Gekkoukan High, Hiromi is a girl for whom ostentation has been the order of the day from which she was young. Distant, cold and more than a little arrogant, she considers this move a sign of failure, and with good reason. Her father, previously a wealthy businessman, fell upon hard times and moved his business to Port Island, hoping for better fortune in a new place, which left quite the impact on her family, her in particular. However, she seeks to make the best of it in her own way, and activity is by far not her weak point, having been in the previous school’s girls fencing and acrobatics team.
  9. Skills: Not Your Average Princess, Ice Queen Could Mean Many Things, It Is Perfectly Healthy To Keep Your Teddybear, I Meant To Do That, Cheerleading Is For The Bimbos.
  10.
  11. History:
  12. Hiromi Sato was born to Kenichi and Mayu Sato, and what should have been the heir to a fair fortune and a relatively small but reasonably successful chain of textile shops originally operating from the city of Sapporo, which had operated since her great-grandfather started the chain in the 1920s, by the name of Sato Textiles, and Hiromi was being groomed in business from a young age.
  13. “What should have been”, however, was not to be. Kenichi Sato was, for lack of a better term, a complete buffoon when it comes to business. When he was not wasting money on things that he did not really need, such as the most expensive cars, lush housing, et cetera, he was making terrible business dealings with people who could not have been properly trusted to keep their end of the bargain. Quickly, the fairly affluent company started losing money, and soon his financial advisors (who were facepalming pretty heavily by this point), suggested that he close the company before it fell into debt that would turn on his family. For once, he listened to them and did so.
  14. While in Sapporo, Hiromi was a rather popular child, and she got an ego to match, seeing most people as below her notice. Of course, many of her friends were more interested in her money than her friendship, but Hiromi was fine by that, as long as it kept her in the circle of attention. Quickly, as her family’s fortune dropped, she saw that her friends started to move away from her. It was during this period that she played the Persona Game – much to her chagrin, going through the motions just to keep what were left of her friends.
  15. Soon, her parents sold her lush home and most of their high-class possessions, and moved to Port Island on a different business venture, a much less impressive one of a newspaper shop, but one, at least, run by her mother. While not really poor, they are now much tighter on money, and Hiromi hated the move, asi t was a sign of her father’s failure, a new beginning that is far worse than the life that ended. Some things never change.
  16. As yet, while she played the Persona game, she has not been in any particular danger and therefore her Persona has not emerged.
  17. Personality:
  18. Hiromi is someone who has been, ever since she was born, used to being special. Therefore, she acted it. When Hiromi wants something, she will do everything she can to get it. This can apply to pretty much everything, whether it be that expensive but oh-so-beautiful piece of jewelry that she saw in a windowsill, or that taken but oh-so-cute boy with the vapid bimbo on his arm. Being used to getting everything she wanted when she was rich, now that she is not, she is suffering from quite a bit of cognitive dissonance. So obsessed is she of her being special, that she holds her very common name in contempt.
  19. Due to this, she is prone to do things that most would think are foolish, ready to prove that she is no different than she used to be. Despite that now she is lacking in funds, she is ready to buy something she can’t afford. Likewise, she kept the same attitude that she had when she still was rich – cold, arrogant, and mostly distant : Except to those she considers friends. The fact she overspends her family’s budget is something that has gotten her in a lot of trouble with her family. She is thus likely to be a gold-digger, or do whatever else it takes to get what she wants.
  20. Friends, when it comes to Hiromi, are something that she has yet to properly understand. Her grandfather told her, when she was young, that the wealthy do not have any friends. From a young age, she was taught in politics and manipulation on the school level. While she made friends, she kept them all at arm’s length, and even now she does not properly understand the idea of what it really means. The friends that left her as her family’s fortune dwindled only reinforced this line of thought. She is willing to socialize with those that she considers her friends, but she is not very likely to put down her cold exterior, even towards them. Of course, underneath any cold shell is a girl like any others, however at this point not even she knows how much she’d find if she went in. What is clear however is that it would be a far more likeable person. She would definitely like someone who’ll like her for who she is, but if released, she would have quite a lot of self-loathing for what she is now. While her not being rich is part of it, understanding how shallow and materialistic she is would open a great can of self-loathing for her, even though it would allow her to earn it. Materialism, currently, rules her way of life, and she does not understand how she could ever be as popular like she used to be, if she is no longer as rich as she used to be.
  21. Hiromi is far from a stupid girl, and her shallowness does not really come from being vapid or stupid. Her grandfather would tell her, when she was young, to always be wary of those that would call themselves her friends, because a rich person had no friends. She took this to mean that people are, in general, shallow and materialistic. What she does is what she considers necessary to be held in the same light as before. While she is well-versed in literature, she considers most of it to be idealistic nonsense. She believes love, etc exists, just that it’s a really rare one in a million thing. This, of course, makes her materialistic aims more devious, as she is quite capable of being so.
  22. She holds her great-grandfather and grandfather as her idols, as the former was the one who made the company, and the latter was the one who made it affluent. Taking from them and listening to pretty much everything her grandfather says, one of her goals is to bring back her company.
  23. Beauty, to her, is another aspect of this shallowness. Attractive girls are popular just like rich ones, another sign of people’s shallowness and another goal for her.
  24. To her, her family is a point of pride in general. She feels sorry for her mother, for having to work so hard to keep the family going in light of her father’s failures. The one exception to this rule is her father, who she despises for his incompetence ruining the family fortune. Her great-grandfather, having formed the company in a rather difficult economic age, is the one she’s most proud of and seeks to emulate.
  25. Her hobbies include gymnastics and acrobatics, fencing (a proper lady’s art), as well as literature. Despite being as shallow as she is, she was trained in high society and still holds those same interests as she did before. While she holds popularity as important , she holds intelligence in high regard, which in some ways is another way for her to look down at others. This comes into play both for who she respects (a respect which may be hard earned but is rather unshakeable), as well as who she would be attracted to. Handsome, but stupid boys hold less interest to her than most.
  26. Faction:
  27.
  28. Unaffiliated. She is from an entirely different area of Japan, and as such has not had the chance to be properly embroiled in any of the insanity, and knows absolutely nothing of the groups.
  29. Possible reactions to the different factions:
  30.
  31. SEES: As a social group, it would definitely interest her, although it is possible that she would avoid it just so that she does not have to spend too much time with Mitsuru, who she is likely going to be jealous of, as well as having it reinforce her already jaded belief of what popularity and friendships are all about.
  32. She would show no interest in the KDA. Even once she understands the concept of the KDA and that the supernatural does exist, she’s not likely to be interested in their wild goose chases of ghost stories. In any case, detective work is not something she cares about, though keeping a contact with one of them would be helpful in the long run.
  33. D4 is a police group, and would hold no interest to her, even less than the KDA. Let the police do what the police do, she’d say, it does not concern her. Unless, of course, she’s the victim.
  34. Strega… Well, they’re a bunch of crazies. Who would want to bring the –end of the world- ? She may have hit hard times, but she’d rather get back to being rich. The world is where she keeps all her stuff, thank you very much
  35. The NWO would be something that… well, the idea is definitely scary, but depending on which way she goes, she might very well be interested in putting her interests first. If the NWO, powerful as it is, would be able to provide her with the contacts to make her family powerful again… Then she will gladly do whatever is needed.
  36. The SFC’s reaction would be a similar way. While ties to criminal organizations would have her wary, if it would mean that somehow it would help her family get back on its feet then she would do it. The aims of bringing the Supernatural to the world would be an added benefit. What’s the point of superpowers if you can’t use them?
  37. Combat
  38.
  39. Personal stats:
  40. While in Sapporo, she was in the gymnastics and fencing team, and this should reflect. However, she has no particular strength or endurance more than any other girl. In fact, she is rather petite even for a Japanese girl of her age. Her high intelligence but rather iffy luck so far would lead to a high magic but low luck score (low STR, high AGI, high MAG, low LUK)
  41.
  42. Weapon-wise, she has a fencing sword which is currently unsharpened for obvious reasons, but can easily be modified for real fighting.
  43. Special attack: Pointed Retort – A flurry of jabbing attacks with her fencing sword. This may change as she awakens.
  44. Supernatural abilities:
  45.
  46. While she played the Persona Game, she’s not yet awakened due to not having had her life risked. When she does, her persona will be the Yuki-onna. The Yuki-onna is a youkai, a snow spirit (literally snow woman) who appears in the visage of a beautiful woman, and in many versions of the stories leads people to their death or kills them outright. However, underneath the cold, cruel façade, many stories exist of the Yuki-onna’s softer side, should they find someone who is able to get through to it. This reflects both Hiromi’s gentler side, her love of literature and intelligence as well as her colder outer side.
  47. Her Arcana is the Devil for many reasons. She wants something she cannot have, and is prone to jealousy for those who do have it. She is materialistic and shallow, as well as fairly egoistic. Other than also being interested in looking good. The fact that she is jaded and pessimistic and the element of self-bondage, I believe makes Devil a shoe-in Arcana for her.
  48.
  49. Background assets/Miscellany:
  50.
  51. While she will not admit it to anyone, she still keeps a Teddybear in her room that she calls Toto that was given to her by her father. Her allowance is not nearly enough to support the life she lives, which gets her in a fair bit of trouble with her parents. A passing interest in botany, although not enough to work on it in any real capacity, more of a hobby, and not enough to expand. Like many Persona girls, can’t cook worth a dime. Has a lovely singing voice, but has never taken lessons.
