Bug: Brightness of status bar flickering when in app drawer

Here's an odd one.

When in the app drawer, the brightness of my status bar (clock, battery percentage, etc.) flickers.

If I stare at it for long enough (30 seconds or so), I see the brightness increase momentarily (maybe for half a second or so) before it returns to normal. The transition between normal and brighter is a noticeable discrete jump (it's not smooth and continuous). It also seems to happen at random times rather than at regular intervals.

I do not see this on the home screen... only in the app drawer.

I do not see this in my phone's stock launcher... only in Octopi Launcher.

The increase in brightness is not caused by my phone's auto brightness as I turned this off during testing.

Oddly enough, I've not been able to capture this in a screen recording.
