　　12岁的阿兰本来打算逃离没有温暖的家庭，正当他要实施计划的时候，他遇上了暗中喜欢的女孩萨拉，于是邀请她一起玩刚刚发现的JUMANJI游戏。不料游戏一开始，阿兰就掉入了游戏里的热带丛林里，从萨拉的眼前消失了！惊呆了的萨拉吓得冲出了房子，没有把游戏进行下去。这一耽搁，就是26年。
　　阿兰原来住的房子住进了新的主人朱迪和彼德，两个刚刚失去父母的可怜的孩子。他们在屋顶发现了还像当年一样摆放着的JUMANJI游戏，游戏于是继续进行：远古时代的飞鸟、猴子、还有已经变成壮汉的阿兰，都出现在两个孩子面前。
　　各种各样的怪物不断从游戏里飞出来，搅乱了原本宁静的城市。为了尽快终止这场灾难，阿兰、朱迪和彼德找到了依然心悸不已的萨拉，并且成功说服她一起把游戏继续下去。他们同心协力，终于控制住了JUMANJI的魔力。在他们之间，增强了友谊，产生了爱情，还坚定了团结克服困难的信心……

　　阿伦与莎拉小时候玩Jumanji游戏琪时发生了怪事，阿伦突然被摄进棋盘上的魔幻世界去。二十六年后，两名小童茱和彼得来到阿伦的旧居，并意外地将伦从棋盘世界释放出来，但棋中的原始猛兽也一并来到人类世界，还四处大肆破坏。唯一的解救方法，就是要找寻已成年的莎拉，完成当年未下完的棋局！

　　1969年的一天，12岁的小男孩阿伦·帕里斯无意中在父亲的制鞋厂的工地上发现了埋在土中的“尤曼吉”游戏棋，将它带回了家。阿伦与父亲发生了争执，正欲离家出走，好友萨拉来到，两人一起玩起了“尤曼吉”，骰子一经掷下，棋盘就现出了不可思议的魔力：阿伦被棋盘吞没，萨拉却被一群吓人的蝙蝠赶出房间。
　　26年后，朱迪和皮特搬进了这里，他们又找到了“尤曼吉”棋。在研究了游戏规则后，他们发现了这个游戏一经开始就不能停止，只能一步步玩到底，姐弟只有继续当年艾伦的游戏。骰子掷出后，一头狮子和被禁锢了26年的艾伦跑了出来。制服了狮子的艾伦万分高兴，但很快又发现事情不对。首先物是人非，其次是游戏引来了大量野生动物在小镇上搞得天翻地覆。在朱迪姐弟两人的动员下，艾伦找到了萨拉，决心四个人一起把游戏进行到底。骰子一次次被掷出来，各种灾难危险连连出现，四个人凭着机智与勇敢与之拼斗奋争，最终骰子停到了适当的点数，游戏结束了。艾伦和萨拉也变孩子回到了26年前。
　　艾伦和萨拉把“尤曼吉”棋扔到了河中，回到家里过自己平静的生活。而在另一处偏僻的河岸上，“尤曼吉”正静静地躺着，等待它的下一位顾客。

　　1969年，一个小男孩找到一副“朱曼吉”棋，一把骰子没掷好，将他投入另一个世界。当他成为罗宾·威廉斯返回家乡时，父母已过世，小镇更是面目全非，惨不忍睹。为了帮主人公彻底解脱魔法，住在他家的两个小孩接着下棋，希望能走到幸运的一格，从而扭转乾坤。经过好几个回合的生死历险，故事终于走向结局。
