  3. Dear Prof Dato’ Dr Mazliham Mohd Su’ud,
  4. President, UniKL
  5. And Members of TMM, UniKL.

  8. RE: Letter of Demand of Payment of ‘KOMPAUN SAMAN TRAFIK KENDERAAN MILIK SYARIKAT’, dated Monday 22nd June 2015.
  9.
  10. First of all, I thank Allah SWT for giving me another chance at life and to colleagues for your prayers, care and love. I thank everyone for this miracle and prayers and love. I would also like to apologise to those who wanted to come and visit. I need a bit of time to recover and recuperate well as the 2 operations were major and took a toll on me. I lost 6 Kg that I need to make up.

  12. I would like to update Dato’ President, and those who did not know that I underwent 2 major Life Threatening Left Brain Tumour Surgery in the spate of 3 weeks (29/5/2015 and 18/6/2015). Amazing as I have not had any symptom (even golfed the day before and attended PCM Board Meeting on Monday 25/5/15 in KL ) to being told 2 days later by a surgeon that I have only 3 months to live! The first surgery (due to swelling and bleeding) could only remove about 90% of brain tumour. Thus the need for a very precise surgery (very close to the speech and memory centres) 3 weeks later that enable the surgeon to remove the whole 100%. My memory and speech centres are 100% intact. Alhamdulillah, Allah SWT still love me and my family and giving me a little more time for me to continue looking after them. Subhanallah.

  14. I am submitting this strong protest that arose from the above-mentioned letter, I received yesterday (24th June 2015) from En Hisshamuddin Bin Omar, CEO/HOD demanding payment of the above summon RM350.00. Refer letter attached.
  15.
  16. I was discharged on Sunday 21/6/2015, where my left skull is still taped. Without care and concern for a fellow human being who is still in great pain from my surgical injuries, or my feelings, Hisshamuddin sent a driver to demand the above payment from me. I have barely settled at home from the Hospital to begin my healing. By that action, Hisshamuddin has showed that he is vindictive, callous, insensitive, distasteful and clearly lacks compassion. As CEO he has shown unacceptable behaviour and I protest in the strongest term possible. I dully signed a cheque for RM350.00. What a shame if this is the best a CEO can do to look after the welfare of staff? Colleague?! He visited me twice after the 1st Operation clearly to accompany visitors from KL. After the 2nd operation, he did not visit despite only a 5-minute walk from his office to my hospital bed. Acquaintances, staff and colleagues offered Prayers, Sympathise and came to visits (including colleagues from UniKL and Sarawak). Yet, Hisshamuddin did not even come once on his own, shocking for someone who shared numerous drinks and meals with me. Just shocking beyond belief. Instead, he sent a demand letter of payment. Can that not wait until after I have healed? Is UniKL RCMP so badly in need my RM350.00? I want Hisshamuddin to know that had I died, he has nothing to worry about as I have made provision that all my debts would be fully paid – I have ample fund in my bank to ensure UniKL RCMP does not lose a single cent from my death.

  18. During this Holy Month of Ramadan, we Muslims talk of Compassion, Spirit of Togetherness and Care. Really??? If this is done to me, who is a Professor and Dean, Senate Member and Top Management Member I am extremely sorry for the junior staff!
  19.
  20. Do I deserved this insensitive and shameful treatment? I joined the Ministry of Health as Head of Department in 1979 in Lau King How Hospital in Sibu, and have served this great nation as Head of Department in various Hospitals in Sarawak. I have served the sick, the poor and worked in many harsh conditions throughout Sarawak. Throughout that period till today, I have led my staff and fellow workers with compassion and care. Something that Hisshamuddin may not have learned? Since 1995, when I joined Academia I taught and trained hundreds/thousands of youths become today’s health professionals as Pharmacists, Doctors, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Radiographers. I have served my nation. Has Hisshamuddin? All I ask is for a Little Dignity, that this CEO show me Compassion and Understanding that I be allowed to heal and recover. Hisshamuddin think that I don’t deserve a little dignity? A little respect for services rendered towards this nation?

  22. I am still reeling with shock that 24 hours after receiving the above letter, I am still unable to sleep despite pain at 5am this morning. For that I have suffered gross stress and lots of aggressive energy that I am seeing a specialist this morning. I am badly stressed the whole of last night. I should be resting to regain my strength. For agony and agitation that this so very sorry regrettable episode caused me and possible aggravation to my injuries, I demand an apology.
  23.
  24. Also, in the next few days especially if there are evidence that my injuries may have worsen, I will decide if this letter should reach the Prime Minister’s office. Hisshamuddin should know that I have ample resources to ensure this gets to the PM. I know PM Najib will be very interested in how, I a Sarawakian is shabbily treated. Hisshamuddin has already shown his insensitive character last year prior to renewal of my current contract. He ignored that I am founding dean, brought by the previous President Dato Hakim, specifically to establish the Faculty of Pharmacy. I returned for the sake of the Malay students to ensure that the Pharmacy Students will graduate.
  25.
  26. Thank you for your time, and hopefully, compassion.
