- Description: Smith walked up to James and, without provocation, shot him multiple times. He searched his pockets and found $4.27. He was sentenced to death in ‘90, but it was overturned and changed to life in 2011. He is also serving a life sentence for another murder. He will be eligible for parole in 2026.
