“Why are both of you looking at me?”
>Cloud pokes the changeling once more.
>”Well, you seem to have a powerful nose when you turn into... that was a bear right?”
“Yes... bear's naturally have a strong sense of smell.”
>”Well if there is a changeling hive nearby we need to see if they are hostile or planning to invade Ponyville.”
“This one knocked me out of a tree and bit me... I almost died trying to get a drink of water!”
>”Hmmm attacking an unknown creature is new for changelings, normally they would sit and watch it.”
“Possibly saw me shift? I don't know much about changelings so you will have to fill me in.”
>”Well, they feed on love. Most changelings communicate through a special connection. No need for talking, anything they see or hear is relayed to everyone else. Some changelings break off to form smaller hives to live alone or among them selves. Single changelings are never a problem as long as they have emotions to feed off of and don't cause problems, so we leave them alone. But when they begin taking over a town-”
>Midnight interrupting ”We just need to know if this is a big or little hive. If it's big we leave and tell Celesita and Luna, if it's small we stay a bit longer find out what they are planning possibly wipe them out if they will become an issue, think you can lead us to them fido?”
>Midnight slaps your leg.
“I don't know... How about we find it and then you report it to Luna and Celestia?”
>”Sounds fine to me.” Cloud nodding at you.
>”Alright fine.” Midnight releasing a sigh of annoyance
>Shifting bear, sniffing around a bit ignoring the rotten corpse of the changeling.

>You pick up something leading farther into the forest.
>But it may just be this changeling's scent before you met it.
>Following the scent Cloud and Midnight taking up your sides looking around.
>The path goes straight but you never pick up anything new.
>After some time you shift back rubbing your nose.
“I'm not picking up anything else.” You begin sneezing, strands of grass flying out of your nose.
>”Attractive.” Midnight bounding off the ground into the trees.
>”Hmm, how far does it go from here?” Cloud looking around.
“I'm not picking up anything new, doubt it turns.”
>Cloud yawning “Well maybe we should leave, if you are not finding anything it may have been a stray
>”Cloud! Anonymous! Get up here!” Midnight's whisper causes both of you to look up.
>”Move!”
>Cloud rockets up as you shift to bird landing on a branch nearby
>”Why are we up here?”
>”Changelings, ahead. I flew up to get look above to find two scouts making patrol. Straight ahead.”
>”So it does keep going.” Cloud lands on a branch nearby. “Think you could keep following that scent to see if it leads us to it?”
>You nod your head before dropping back to the ground and shifting to bear once more.
>Picking up the scent you continue to the follow it as Midnight weaves up and down making sure it connects and Cloud staying with you.
>Twigs snap under you as you walk.
>The forest gets darker as you go much farther in, unsure how far you are now but a new smell hits you.
>A corrupt smell that burns your nose forcing you to shift.
>”Whats wrong?”
>Doing your best not to sneeze or cough
“Something... ahead... smells awful. Burns my nose.”
>”Hmm, Midnight can you check it out... Midnight?”
>Looking around she's already gone.
>Cloud checks his spear as you keep rubbing your nose.
“Feels like someone just lit my nose on fire!”
>After a while you start getting worried.
>Nose still burns but not as much now.
“Should we go-”
>Midnight bursts out from the trees.
>”Run!”
>Both you and Cloud questioning her as she tries to push you
>”Run?”
“Run?”
>”Found changelings! They saw me! No time, run!”
>Standing up you hear cloud brandish his spear pointing it at midnight.
>”How do we know its you?” he inches closer
“What?”
>”Changelings can change forms much like you can, but if I heard Luna correct you can't change into anything, they can.” He inches closer to her as she backs off
>”Well!” He screams pulling back with his hooves ready to launch forward.
>”Three years ago! Gala that black griffon!”
>Cloud pauses his attack as he steps back
>”Alright, lets go... how many?”
>Midnight gets a running start as Cloud catches up to her.
>Shifting to cat you catch up with ease.
>”Small group, five or so, not sure about a hive.”
>Dodging trees left and right, jumping over logs. Twigs breaking under...paw

>After running for a while an opening appears ahead.
>Cloud looks behind you as he slows down.
>”Think we are good.”
>A response from the woods in the form of purple energy bolts fly by.
>”Never mind, hope you can fight Anonymous!”
>Midnight and Cloud jump right into the changelings who are shooting bolts of green and purple magic from their horns.
>Midnight takes to the trees as a changeling lunges at you.
>Dodging to the side it's horn glows firing a purple bolt.
>You're put on the defensive as it launches purple energy bolts and lunges at you with it's horn and teeth.
>You get glimpses of Cloud and Midnight fighting changelings but other then that everyone is on the defensive.
>Dodging another bolt a pain laces through your hind leg.
>Looking a purple bolt is lodged in it before disappearing leaving an open wound.
>This creates an issue as the changeling in the tree begins launching it's attack at you with the one on the ground following.
>Doing your best to limp around a giant tree you wait for the changeling to come around.
>He pokes his head out immediately not wanting to lose you, which was its first mistake.
>You grab its head with your claws bringing it to the ground.
>It releases a shriek of terror mixed with pain before you sink your fangs into its neck.
>You rip its throat out before looking around to find the other attacker.
>Not revealing him self immediately you shift out of cat to heal yourself.
>Lacing your leg with lifebloom to heal it slowly and finish with a much more potent heal.
>A purple bolt lands in front of you as the changeling looks from you and its dead friend.
>But you are not a cat anymore, nor are you in human form.
>And he's within arms length.
>You're in worgen form
>Grabbing him you sink your free claw into him his gut before shutting his mouth with your other claw.
>Pain disappears slowly in your leg as lifebloom 'pops' causing the wound to close and heal.
>The changeling begins thrashing about trying to get you off but with no real leverage you are able to walk out from behind the trees.
>Ripping your claws from his gut you slash his throat before looking around for Cloud and Midnight.
>You carry the changeling who is still bleeding out having a hard time breathing towards the sound of Clouds spear.
>After calming down a bit you shift back to human form not to cause any problems.
>looking past a huge tree you find Midnight ripping a changeling's throat out with claws embedded in her hoof armor thing.
>She looks up at you with her light orange eyes glowing from the moonlight breaking through trees
>”Well hey big guy, looks like you had fun.”
>You cant see very well in human form but you can smell the blood on you, and you can feel it.
>Hurling the changeling still in your grasp onto the one she just killed.
“Wouldn’t call it fun, where's Cloud?”
>Silence as both of you wait for the sound of his spear, it's deathly quiet.
>Midnight reacts first calling out for him “Cloud?!”
>You both stand and wait for a response.
>Taking a look at the site you find two dead changeling's
“He can handle one on his own right?”
>”...he should”
>Both of you wait in silence for any sound.
>Moments go by before you decide it's time to break the silence.
“Lets go.”
>”We can't leave without him!”
“We're not.”
>You shift to bear sniffing around.
>Picking up a scent leading away from the changelings you follow it.
>Midnight stays close looking around every tree.
>The scent gets stronger until you turn.
>You find Cloud Skipper leaning against a tree, his head on some roots bleeding heavily.
>A changeling nearby is impaled into the ground by his spear.
>Rushing over you shift to hear him cough.
>”Hey... you take care of the others?”
“Yeah, come on get up.”
>You cast every healing spell you know.
>Rejuvenation, lifebloom, healing touch, abolish poison, remove curse.
>He begins looking better over time but you notice abolish poison is still actively removing something.
“Were you bit?”
>All he manages to do is nod.
>”What are you doing to him?”
“Trying to heal him but changeling poison does something to magic.”
>Picking up Cloud you hurl him over your shoulder as you walk over to his spear.
>Ripping it out of the ground and shaking the changeling off you start walking out the forest with Midnight at your side.
”I need to know everything about changeling's, most importantly their poison bite.”
>You keep casting abolish poison on Cloud Skipper as Midnight begins to fill you in on everything.
>Her worry for Cloud is very clear as she watches you keep abolish poison on him.
>Hopefully this helps but you can't keep it up much longer, your reserves for spells are running dry.
>Throwing innervate on yourself a cool wind is blown over you as your tank restores a bit.
>But it's a long walk from the everfree forest to Twilight's
>Reaching the open field you could go to Fluttershy's but the distance is still daunting... You know Twilight better then Fluttershy.
>Walking towards the town Midnight gives you all the information she knows while answering your questions.
>Learning of how they feed on emotions is troubling but a passive changeling doesn't sound so bad, you see why they wanted to check it out.
>Changeling's ability to change into other creatures is also troubling but it's rare to see a changeling change to anything other than a pony so you may be okay.
>She told you of the wedding that a changeling queen crashed and how love is a powerful emotion to them, increasing their magical abilities.
>But a problem arises when they feed on love, they want more. It begins a hunger they will never fill, an empty void.
>Reaching town the suns glow is seen far away telling you morning is arriving soon.

>Thankfully no ponies are awake to see you and Midnight walking through town you carrying a bloody spear and Cloud.
>Maybe Fluttershy's would have been a better idea, but you owe her already.
>Seeing Twilight’s treehousebrary you circle around.
>Your head is pounding as you keep applying abolish poison to Cloud who seems to still be out of it but keeps looking around.
>The fact he is awake and breathing is a relief but Midnight shows fear in her eyes.
>Reaching Twilight's door you see a light on inside.
>Turning the door knob you let Midnight in first before you follow ducking a bit not to hit your head.
>Standing up you find spike at the table eating something with a very confused look on his face.
“Good morning Spike..... got any bandages?”
