anno and deformity

Hideaki Anno, in an interview excerpt from the 1997 book Shizo/Parano:

Hideaki Anno: "I have an attachment towards deformity. I can't love something if it's not broken somewhere. I believe that's due to the influence of my father."

Note: Anno's father, Takuya Anno, lost his left leg.
