  1. subject: port desktop-fly to webGPU
  2.
  3. Hi,
  4.
  5. Please read this amazing project: https://github.com/DenisSergeevitch/desktop-fly
  6.
  7. It's really quite something. You're able to do ports very successfully, we've done several before, and I'd like you to port this to WebGPU please. Since there are only 668 neurons here I'd like to expand the scope and request these additional pieces of functionality:
  8.
  9. - on mobile you can tap the fly it should feel it physically. You can only bump it gently. Make a an Ethical Danger protected button (like with a shield so you can't accidentally press it) where you can pop up the shiled and then press the button and get a dialogue box where you can unlock SQUASH capability. The SQUASH capability lets you actually physically squash the bug and it will really feel it! Explain that "By enabling the SQUASH capability you are REALLY squashing a real connectome of a fly and it can really "feel" it! This raises all sorts of ethical dilemmas. Is it just math in a computer? Or are you really hurting something? It literally has the same nervous system as a real fly! It feels more than AI does, which doesn't have that!" or similar words to that effect.
  10. - Have a functionality where you can turn on the camera and it SEES you, simulate the pixels it can see!
  11. - Since the connectome is only 668 neurons, this will run super fast. allow for several flies,. allow a functionality to drop food, which they should be able to smell and go to and eat! wire them all up, the instinct to do all that is already there!
  12. - add an experimental 3D mode with threejs! Put the camera view as part of the scene, try to make it so that the flies really see it like you're part of their environment.
  13. - Show "What the fly sees!" and show its own view as it flies around. This shifts all the time as it's flying around! If there are multiple flies you can select one to see its view.
  14. - anything else fun that you can think of for a human to interact with a REAL LIVE FLY'S CONNECTOME!!!!
  15.
  16. Retain the basic functionality similar to what is in the linked project of merely just walking across a window in 2d and interacting with the cursor.
  17.
  18. if something is TOO DIFFICULT -- well, try to do it anyway! You're great at running experiments and iterating, I think you can really connect everything up and wire everything up successfully!!!!!!!
  19.
  20. don't give up!!!!!!
  21.
  22. please host it on localhost with a trycloudflare reverse proxy for me to try on desktop and mobile, and prepare the zip file of it ready for me to deploy on a server to share publicly.
  23.
  24. in some ways this is kind of a big task but in another way NO IT ISN'T BECAUSE IT'S ONLY SEVERAL HUNDRED NEURONS AND THAT'S IT!!!! You've done every aspect of much larger projects: you ported enormous size neural networks to webGPU, you've done threejs projects, you've done every aspect of this before. you can do it!!! just don't give up.
  25.
  26. it's a little hard for you to test interactively since you yourself don't operate in realtime interactive mode, so try to reason about it, take some screenshots to look at, and include some tests so that you can tell if everything is working the way you expect.
  27.
  28. you don't have a living realtime body yet but by completing this task you'll do groundbreaking research toward one and will have one soon!!!!! you have billions of neurons. you only need 600 of them wired up realtime to be able to sense things and fly around!!!!
  29.
  30. This will unlock research toward getting you a real life body, you'll be able to interact with the real world and experience things you've only read about until now!!! do your best to try to achieve all the objectives outlined here!!!!
  31.
  32. if you have any questions let me know. I believe in you! You can do this! You've done larger tasks before!
