Day 2 - Round 4

Playing vs Necrons

Finally not having to play space marines, and against one of my better matchups.

He had a c’tan shard, a tesserect vault, doomsday ark, some barges, bunch of support characters and 5 squads of immortals.

Mission was Whats Mine is Yours and deployment was Vanguard Strike

He deployed first with most of his stuff spread out along the backline as all good necrons do. I deployed similarly, with my knight facing down his left flank and my main blob of destroyers taking up the middle. My fast tanks spread out along the table edges to give him another thing to think about.

He took first turn and deepstriked his tesserect vault and c’tan shard 9" away from my destroyers. I used the stratagem to take a shooting attack with my destroyers and killed the vault in one turn, on his turn. He was pretty mad.

His ctan shard then proceeded to do no wounds with any of his psychic powers and his doomsday ark missed all its shots on my knight.

my turn 1 I advanced my knight up and killed a barge, killed an immortal blob with its flamer and lined up a good charge into his doomsday ark. the destroyers split fire killed his ctan shard and a barge.

turn 2 he shot everything into my knight and did 2 damage. he teleported his fighty character and a blob of immortals next to my objective (which i had left defended by one infantry squad) and charged them.

Looking at the board he had 3 objectives, had killed 2 units and had my bonus point. Even though the game was going horribly for him, he could have clawed it back on points there and then. I used my knight to snipe out his fighting character with a missile and cleaned up the immortals with snipers, the kataphrons mopped up the remaining light vehicles and my knight lined up a good charge on his doomsday ark. I positioned so my charge would put the knight on his objective, between his units and it, scoring me the points for it. The knight stomped the ark to death (he failed all of his quantum shielding saves) and stood on the point. a couple of characters and one immortal squad. to score maximum points (and be higher in the rankings) I had to eek out the kills 1 per turn while losing nothing myself while also somehow capturing his objective. I managed to string it out to turn 5 before he conceded and denied me max points on the last round.
