Reasoning: After the ground-breaking victories and defeats that had taken place at Zeraph's lair, Salt dedicates the down-time from that massive battle to train. Not only does he venture to new areas to train on his own accord, and further master the holy powers that he's acquired, but he instructs those younger than him in the ways of the blade. Re-affirming his foundations in sword-play, he acquires further experience by teaching the next generation, accompanied with battling it out with his peers in order to come to terms with the Sword of Hope. The death of his allies spurs him onward, and after a CRUSHING defeat at the hands of Aether, and tending to lose the majority of his fights, he continues to diligently improve. He understands there's a massive gap between himself and those before him, but he still aims to show that hard work and dedication can surmount even those odds.

 With the rift still in play, and zombies still lurking about, he knows that now more than ever is an opportunity to further himself not only as a swordsman, but to play a critical role within Oasis and become a foundation for his comrades and those that come after him.
